Ed wrote:Oh shush it Quon! The name Quon was carefully selected after I analysed my favorite parts of this beautiful Maroons design. At first sight I fell in love with his green markings. Green happens to be my favorite color, although I wouldnt usually match it with black&white. But woah what a beautiful combination! The black and white neutralize each other and then BAM the gorgeous green markings to add a peculiar twist! I love how bright it is! "Bright". That how I came up with "Quon". The word "bright" was the fist that come to mind when looking at this design. So I decided to add another twist. All my favorite names are either Chinese or have a chinese origin. So I looked up male chinese names that mean "Bright", which brought me the beautiful name. Quon.
Quon wrote:Seriously guys? You really need to ask? Can you tell by my fine musular figure and my dazzling charm that Im a dude!?
Ed wrote:Yes Quon. Of course they could. They're just pulling your leg. *rolls eyes*
Yes so as Quon. Pointed out to us. He is a male. Hes not yet a fully grown adult but neither is he a child. Hes a "inbetweener" or a teen. Quon is 15 years old.
Quon wrote:My personality? Thats what Im like as a person right? Well. Im kind, caring, loving, layed back, cool, good two shoes, clever, love to work..
Ed wrote:Are we still talking about you Quon? Or is this a twin from another dimension? The Quon I know is a very sweet guy but is nearly none of the above. Quon is a young teenage Maroon, so he is very curious and loves to stick his paws into everything. He is very quirky and friendly, so he is quite popular and has many friends. Although Quon acts macho, he is a big softie. He loves small fluffy animals he can cuddle, but he likes to keep that to himself. Quon is very adventurous and loves nothing better than to spend his weekends exploring the woods, looking for new hideouts and camping out with friends. He is very survival and explorer educated but thats about his only education. Quon isnt good at any school subject. He muddles up numbers in math, he forget chemical symbols in Chemistry and the only French word he knows is Bonjour. He hates school and refuses to behave.
Quon wrote:But whats the point? A great explorer like me doesnt need school! When I grow up I will be sailing the seas and exploring every acre of Jungle in the world! I dont need Geometry for that!
Quon wrote:I really love to explore and find new places to make hideaways and dens! My favorite color has to be green, but orange comes a close second! Uhh.. My favorite food is Cheeseburgers! Ed wrote:But I thought we were Bffs?! D: Not cool huh? Fine.
Quon really hates the color pink. Its just a big no. He also hates fish (the food fish) and raisens. He has a slight phobia of clowns and snakes. And blood. And spiders. And bunnies...
Quon wrote:Hey! I thought we agreed that no one needed to know that!?

Harlequin Raven wrote:Ed stretched and yawned. It was late, and she knew she needed to get home to bed fairly soon. Still, something urged her on. There might be something just around the next bend or just beyond that next tree. An artist’s work was never done, after all. A new discovery might be just the muse she was looking for. Onward she walked until even her optimism was beginning to wear thin. Where could that muse possibly be? That fickle beast that eludes so many a poetic mind and any number of painter’s brushes was once more nowhere to be found. With a sigh, Ed decided to turn back around and head home.
One foot stepped in front of the other toward her house. Leastwise, that was the intention. Instead, one foot fell, and the other slammed straight into something. Ed topped forward, yelping as she fell into the soft snow. What in the world had she just tripped over? She got up and brushed off the white lump that had so rudely reached up to fell her. “Maroon Kennel: Bring Home Your Best Friend,” she read aloud. What in heaven’s name was that? ‘Maroon’ was a colour, of course, and a kennel usually held dogs. Perhaps it was a sign advertising a dog breeder with the kennel name of ‘Maroon’. With an eloquent shrug, Ed turned around again. Puppies were always fun, and perhaps the elusive muse would appear amidst a pile of furry little friends.
Wary of more signs hidden in the snow, Ed continued along the nearly-invisible path until she reached the strangest building she had ever seen. Eyes widened as they took in what appeared to be a giant house that seemed to have grown directly from an enormous tree. Tentatively, she knocked on the door, ready to run should the owner of the house turn out to be a monstrous troll. After all, it only made sense that such a strange house would be home to an equally odd creature. The door opened as though of its own accord. Not a soul appeared in the doorway, so Ed slipped in quietly. The door swung shut slowly, closing with barely a sound. She looked around, expecting someone near the door, but there was no one. Curious, she headed past the foyer until a faint sound caught her ears. Feeling rather like Alice through the Looking Glass, Ed stepped further into the building, drawn the increased volume of the noise as she followed it to its origin.
Finally, as she rounded a corner, she nearly jumped back when she caught sight of ananimal. It somewhat resembled a fluffy dog, but the profile was more like that of a rabbit. No rabbit she had ever seen came in such a large size, however. The scales and spines on the head, back, and joints took away from the impression of a rabbit, as well. Long whiskers tipped in what appeared to be back and brilliant green feathers sprouted from the creature's muzzle. The same colour scheme was patterned across the otherwise white fur of the beast, setting off the azure eyes. After her initial shock, her eyes lit up. This was her muse! Whatever this gorgeous creature was, it was everything she could ever need! Her eyes met with those of the animal before her, and she knew that her destiny was in those sapphire globes. “What are you?” she whispered.
Only then did the caretaker choose to emerge, seemingly from nowhere. Ed rubbed her eyes, sure now that she was dreaming. If the animal had been odd, the woman assuredly had stepped straight out of a storybook. Glistening wings, golden hair that shimmered in the pale light, and skin of no tone that was natural in humans all screamed one word at Ed: fae! Now she was sure she was asleep. She had an artistic mind, of course, but faeries were not real! Humouring her vision, she listened as the faerie spoke, “Welcome to Maroon Kennel. The animal before you is a Maroon, and he has chosen you.”
“Chosen me?” Ed asked, her confusion clear in her tone.
“Yes. By appearing before you, he has made it clear that he wishes to go home with you. You will need to provide him with meat and vegetables, but never fruit. If you can feed him and give him the love he knows you possess, you will have a faithful friend,” the faerie replied.
It might be only a dream, but Ed intended to let it play out. After all, she might wake up with the perfect idea for a new piece of art. “Alright, I will take him and care for him,” she said with a nod. As simple as that, the click of the door opening flitted to her ears, and the Maroon stood up to follow her out the door. The faerie disappeared in the same manner in which she had appeared, and in short time, there was no sign of Ed and the Maroon save for quickly filling footprints. By morning, all evidence of their passage through the forest would be erased entirely. When Ed reached her house, she crawled into bed, and the young Maroon curled up next to her. If she did not touch the spines and scales, the creature was delightfully soft. With her arms wrapped around the Maroon’s neck, she drifted off to sleep, expecting to awaken alone.
To her surprise, however, when Ed awoke with a yawn, a nose nuzzled against her. She squeaked in surprise as her eyes flew open. The Maroon was still there! Joy welled up inside of her. It had not been a dream! “Oh! Wait right here!” she exclaimed and ran to the kitchen to find some food for the two of them. A short while later, she returned with a bowl of fresh vegetables and another containing her own breakfast. After setting the vegetables down for the Maroon to eat, she realized she needed to name her new friend. Time for an Internet search!
Several hours, hundreds of websites, and a few books later, and it appeared that the name was eloping with her errant muse. “Think, think, think!” she scolded herself. The Maroon had long since finished his meal and had begun napping. However, true to the faerie’s words, he woke up and seemed to take an interest in what Ed was doing. Picking up a random book in his mouth, he carried it over to her. “100,000 Chinese Names and their Meanings,” Ed said with a raised brow. She looked at the Maroon with narrowed eyes, then nodded. “You do sort of resemble a Chinese dragon.” She began to read through the book, but still nothing jumped out and screamed, “This is his name!” She was nearly ready to give up for the day when her finger fell upon a name.
She leaped from her chair, upsetting the books, and scooped up the Maroon. “Quon! That is perfect! I will call you Quon! It means ‘Bright’ What do you think? Do you like it?” The Maroon snuggled into her arms, and she took that as a ‘yes’. “Quon it is, then!” she said gleefully, falling backward onto the bed, the Maroon still wrapped up in her arms. Already visions filled her mind with possibilities for her artwork. It would appear that her muse, like Quon, was here to stay, and she could not be happier.
with your feet in the air and your head on the ground
try this trick and spin it, yeah
your head will collapse
but there's nothing in it
and you'll ask yourself
where is my mind?
