Kanika
Kanika huffed as she silently slid in and out of the shadows. It was her duty to look for new sorces, but her finds were becoming few and far between. Where did it all go? she thought dejectedly, throwing her head as she picked up speed. She was alone, as usual, and she'd found a nice quiet tunnel to explore. She loved the simplicity of it, just being yourself without anybody around to judge you. The filly generally avoided others at all costs, unless she needed to know something. That's when she would listen in, totally unseen and unheard. She smirked, thinking of her notoriety as a shadowy recluse. What did they know? If they weren't so darn annoying, she would maybe speak more often. Kanika was now at a gallop, her mane and tail streaming back elegantly as she listened to her rythmatic hoof beats. She came skidding to a stop before she crashed into a dead end. It wasn't often that she didn't sense something of such importance. Her ears flattened heatedly at this thought, herd life obviously dulling her acute senses. Suddenly unnerved by her surroundings, she arched her neck to listen for any unexpected company. Total quite. Good. Nobody had followed her, so she could slip back to the herd unnoticed. She began trotting once more, the soft white glow of her antenna fading as she crept away.
Kanika was becoming impatient as she slunk back toward the herd. She knew they were close, but she just wasn't getting there fast enough for her liking. She began cantering, her ears pricked as she rounded a corner. She mentally kicked her self when she shot through the group like a bullet. Her estimation of their location had been completely off, by a lot. Curses. She instantly slowed, hugging the wall as she circled out along the outskirts. Her highest priority was locating Balios, not induring the mindless chatter of her fellow herd mates. She had heard a rumor, a rumor that the lead stallion was going to send scouts to the surface. She needed to confirm it, and get a spot in that party. As she made another small loop, she heard his distict voice. Lowering her head honorably, she made her way toward a branching tunnel. His voice echoed dully off the walls, and she was as silent as the wind once she reached the breeding mares' chamber. Her small head popped around the corner to listen, her presence still unknown to them. There were several Equidius already gathered there, her antenna flickering nervously as she shyly stepped toward the stallion. She was okay with Balios, in all of his down-to-business glory, it was the others she prefered to avoid. Briefly acknowledging the foal in the room, her skin crawled for just a moment before she caught herself. She hated that chamber, too many little "Cooty Magnets" had been there, and too frequently. "Balios, I've returned from scouting. I couldn't find a single sprig of fungus, sir." she told him worriedly, one ear rotating back. She wasn't finished speaking with just her report though, as she usually was. She cut her eyes up at him, a serious look on her face. "I've heard a rumor, and I wish to comfirm it. Are we really going to venture to the surface?" she said with just a hint of awe, not wanting to reveal too much enthusiasm. She had a reputation to up-hold you know.
