Puzzle & Katy

Run, baby, run.
Don't ever look back.
They'll tear us apart
if you give them the chance.
Don't sell your heart;
don't say we're not meant to be.
Run, baby, run.
Forever will be
you and me.

(Check Yes Juliet - We The Kings)

She wanted to escape all of the teasing she received just because she looked so different. When they met, she was swept up in his charm, and he wanted to show her a better life. Together, they ran, to make the best of their lives, in love and in adventure.:.

(( I'd written about these two in the previous thread; a certain song triggered a sequel to their story. ))

Cricket (F) + Yoyo (M)

now just because we're kids
because we're sort of small
because we're closer to the ground
and you are bigger pound by pound
you have no right
you have no right
to push and shove us little kids around

She always tried to do the right thing.

It wasn't her fault, really. It was most likely mine. I never got to know my father and my mother abandoned me in the woods. I'd found her family's vegetable patch and she'd found me facefirst in her crops, eating like there was no tomorrow. But she let me stay. She let me come back as often as I wanted, let me eat as much as I wanted.

She'd always shoo me away, though, when her father would come along.

now just because your throat
has got a deeper voice
and lots of wind to blow it out
and little kids who don't dare shout
you have no right
you have no right
to boss and beat us little kids about

Her father was a horrible man. I'd hide behind the bushes just in time to hear the door crash open from their little log cabin. Even over the crashing of the door I'd hear him yelling at her, cursing her out, blaming her for the damaged fruits and vegetables whose juices I could still taste on my tongue. I never understood why she'd stay standing there, her head bowed, without a word or movement to tell her father that he was wrong to accuse her.

She never raised her voice, never raised a finger, to stop her father's accusations. I know that I should have. I'd close my eyes when he'd raise his hand, and cover my ears to block out her cries of pain. At times I'd come to the garden not because I was hungry, but because I'd wonder where she was, when she wasn't outside by nightfall. Sometimes I'd see bruises on her face, her arms, her legs, but she would just smile and tell me it was nothing and feed me what she'd grown that afternoon.

She wasn't a daughter to him. He was a slave driver to her.

just because you've whiskers on your face to shave
you treat us like a slave
so what? it's only hair
just because you wear a wallet near your heart
you think you're twice as smart
you know that isn't fair

So I hatched a plan. I found a bear trap in the woods, overgrown with weeds and probably forgotten by its original owner. I took it and dashed back to her. I told her we could leave it in the garden, where her father would walk. Get him good, hurt him for the times he'd hurt her. Then we would run away together, just me and her, and she wouldn't have to worry about her father, her bruises, and his beatings. We would live far, far away, and we'd never come back again.

She looked at the trap, and she looked at me. But she only said, "If I did that, I'd be no different from him."

but we'll grow up someday
and when we do, i pray
we won't just grow in size and sound
and just be bigger pound by pound
i'd hate to grow
like some i know
who push and shove us little kids around

She always tried to do the right thing. I thought I was doing the right thing.
It's not always easy to tell what the right thing to do is.

(( Geh. Well, I tried to relate it to the song as best I could :p ))

but when explained i'm nothing serious

Aww, Solf! That was really sweet - I mean, it was built off a heart-breaking idea but still! Loved it, wish you'd made it longer, my friend ;3

Dasher, The Groom
Nectar, The Changeling
Nectar, The True Bride

Song is from MLP: FiM (Words were edited)

The Changeling positioned the flower on one ear, admiring her fur. "This Nectar girl, she really is beautiful." She sighed, amber eyes shimmering in the pale light. She looked around the Bride's dressing room and a twisted smile with too-sharp teeth twisted her face. Her eyes flashed acid green and she gave a witch-like cackle, raising her deep brown head and looked at the ceiling, the plan going through her dark mind.

This day is going to be perfect,
The kind of day of which I've dreamed since I was small.

She looked at the silky white gown made by the Bride's good friend, the Butterfly Wolf known as Dove. She slipped into it and looked into the mirror. Her reflection looked back at her with glowing amber eyes. "This dress..." She longed for it. Her kingdom was poor and she would never be able to get anything this nice. She wiped a tear away from her eye and hissed as soft downy fur got in it. Cursing under her breath, she wiped it away and looked into the mirror again. She looked beautiful, like a queen should. But that didn't suit her enough. She wanted more. "It's too big around the hooves, too much volume near my hind legs." She snapped, pacing around the room. A gold gleam caught her eye and she slipped into a beautiful necklace and matching paw shoes made of a beautiful silk encased in glass. She continued her pacing, the glass-and-silk slippers tapping against the ground as her acid green eyes shone with bloodlust and evil.

Everyone will gather round,
See I look lovely in my gown,
What they don't know is I have fooled them all!

Nectar crashed into the cave wall, stumbling blindly in the darkness. She had been attacked by the Changeling Queen, who had trapped her in this cave below the Church. "Please, help me!" She yowled, pressing her scraped and bleeding paws on the rough rock, tears streaming from her amber eyes. Her Groom, Dasher, was in danger. The Changeling had taken over his mind and now he was helpless to her. She yowled again, alone and sad.

This day was going to be perfect,
The kind of day of which I dreamed since I was small.

The Bride crumpled into a heap on the ground, sobbing into her fur. She tensed up and lifted her head, eyes cold. "I will find you." She whispered and got up and charged, crashing into a wall she couldn't see. She fell back and didn't move. A large bump formed on her head and her body went limp. She wasn't dead, just knocked out. A soft groan, barely a whisper, sounded from deep within her throat. The wall she had crashed into crumbled and fell apart, revealing a light filled room with a hole in the ceiling. The unknowing Bride dreamed of what her wedding was supposed to be like, even thought it may not happen at all now.

But instead of having cake,
With all my friends to celebrate,
My wedding bells they may not ring for me at all!

The Queen sighed. "I wish they could've made this dress a bit more... formal." She sighed. The shoes were extravagant, too good for the likes of the dress. "I'll settle for it." She muttered. After the wedding, she'd take the dress and have her personal tailor make it more to her taste. The gold frills fell over her heels she remarked, scowling in annoyance. "You can take it off soon." She reminded herself and padded over to one of the many outfits. A particularly bad one, a pale yellow dress with a silver crown, stood before her. The thick material weighed almost as much as her, the crown was too pointy and the color was just, no. She lashed her claws at it, missing by a whisker's length. She thought about the cake. She had tried it earlier and a glob of the plastic-like icing stuck in her throat. She shivered as the memory of nearly chocking stuck in her mind like a spiderweb.

I could care less about the dress,
I won't partake in any cake.

"I'll marry him, then leave him." She promised herself. The groom was rather handsome, she'd give him that. He had the IQ of a brick though. This Nectar girl was smart, so they supported each other. A sense of longing for someone like that entered her mind and she shook it off, disgusted with herself for surrendering to such puny emotions. "I don't care for him. I am a cold and cruel Queen who doesn't need a mere cat like him." She snapped at the mirror. But even though she masked her emotions with anger, she could feel a sense of loneliness gnawing at her heart and a single tear fell from her eye.

Vows, well I'll be lying when I say,
That through any kind of weather,
I'll want us to be together,
The truth is I don't care for him at all!
No I do not love the groom,
In my heart there is no room!
But I still want him to be all mine!

Nectar opened her eyes and saw the light. She shook her pounding head and got to her paws, stumbling weakly into the cavern. Regaining control of her paws, she leaped from rock to rock, higher and higher. The light still escaped from her, seeming to draw further and further away from her grasp. It was rather far but she kept going, tears streaming down her face as she realized she might lose her one true love. Defiance ripped through her body like a torpedo and she but on a burst of strength that carried her up the rocks.

I must escape before it's too late,
find a way to save the day,
Hope, I'll be lying if I say,
I don't fear that I may lose him,
to one who wants to use him,
Not care for him and cherish him each day!

The Bride leaped into the light, feeling her pearl white claws catch the edges. She pulled herself up, into the grasses outside of the Church. She ran, her paws skimming grass and flying towards the church, her eyes set in determination. Dasher clouded her thoughts, his pale golden fur and dark mane. As Nectar stood in front of the church, she found herself crying. She wanted him, she needed him. The warm presence of him, the feeling of warmth spreading from ear to tail-tip. She needed her Groom, or she would die.

For I oh-so love the Groom,
Oh my thoughts he does come soon,
Oh Dasher,
I'll be there very soon!

The Queen strode down the aisle, Nectar's father by her side. This was perfect, everything was going according to the plan. She ignored the loneliness in her heart as she looked up at the Groom. His eyes were sparkling as he looked down at her, a smile on his ugly mug. She threw up in her mouth, but swallowed it. She smiled sweetly, shame washing over her to what she had to do to make this day right.

Finally the moment has arrived,
For me to be one lucky Bride!

The music started playing. Nectar dashed through the halls, breaking apart the doors. The Church was big, too big. She kept running, her paws aching and her muscles burning with protest. "Dasher!" She wailed. As she ran, she began to sing, her voice like the gentle melody of a song bird. Tears streamed from her eyes as door upon door met her.

"Oh the wedding I won't make,
He'll end up marrying a fake,
Dasher will be..."

Nectar trailed off as she burst into the wedding room. "Stop!" She cried, her voice ringing around the room.

Mine, all mine!

The Queen stood by her husband-to-be, a fake smile plastered on her face. The MC asked for the vows, first to Dasher, "I do." He vowed, looking at what he thought to be Nectar with love in his eyes. The MC asked the Queen. She was just about to say "I do." When a brown she-cat burst in, her fur torn and ragged and her eyes bright with rage. "Stop!" She cried.

Dasher gasped. "2 Nectars?" He breathed, looking back and forth. He suddenly realized the one beside him had acid green eyes, not Nectar's glowing amber ones. "Fake!" He yowled, turning on the Nectar beside him.

"Dasher! She's a Changeling!" Nectar yowled, flinging herself at the Queen and she slashed the diamond necklace hidden under the gold, breaking the crystal and revealing the Changeling for who she was. She ran to her husband and snuggled close to him, fear and pain in her eyes.

The Queen was revealed. Ebony black fur, razor sharp silver claws, acid green eyes and fangs as long as twigs. To her surprise, she collapsed, crying. "I'm sorry." She whimpered through her tears. "I was a fool, I was an idiot." She felt her heart snap and she stood up, her eyes full of pain and loneliness. "I was going to use you to shut off the defences of the city, to feed my minions, but now I realize that I feel love. I can be different, I don't need to be evil." She took the dress, the gold necklace, the flower and the shoes off, revealing a battle-scarred old cat. "I ruined a perfectly good wedding and now, I'll pay." She started to glow and a great pain took her over. This was known as the "Punishment of Love." It was when a Changeling tried to interfere with love and the pain from realizing that they loved the Bride/Groom and it filled them with so much pain that they...

Nectar watched as cracks opened up in the Queen, glowing with an orange light. The black cat let out a piercing scream and was gone in a puff of smoke. She was gone. Nectar stood there, at her wedding, crying. A life had been lost and she regretted it. She had died before her time. She rested her head on Dasher's shoulder, watching the puff of smoke fade into nothing. She had won her husband, but at a terrible cost.

The ghost of a black cat, with huge long fangs and gleaming claws, watched. Her acid green eyes sparkled as she thanked Nectar for teaching her this lesson. "Thank you..." She sighed and faded.

He took my hand in his. I scoffed loudly and ripped my hand away, disgusted by his foolish attempt to get me back. I looked in his eyes, dead serious, and he seemed to be unphased by my action.
Again, in failish attempt, he took my hand in his. I jerked away and ended up being so frustrated that I got out of my chair, pushed it in violently, and walked out with no final look at his unmoved motion.
It was pouring, and I'd left my umbrella inside. A part of me told myself to go get it, but another hurt part of me told myself to just fight through the rain, as I didn't want to see his face ever again. I decided to go in anyways.

As I pushed through the urge to run away, I went inside the coffee shop and backed into our table. As I turned, I expected to see his cocky glare. I didn't. He wasn't there, and neither was my umbrella. Instead, taped to my seat, was a note. Want your umbrella? It's mine now. Too bad.

I scoffed and walked out the door. I got soaked immediately as I walked into the rain.

"No," I said to myself. "I don't want my umbrella back. Especially not from that jerk."
But I had the urge to go to his house and get it. I was telling my self abrupt lies. Well... I had a few things over there that I'd rather like to keep. Thinking about this, I ran and waved violently at a cab. It pulled over and I hopped in, almost ripping a ten dollar bill from my pocket. "Keep the change." I nodded at the man, handing it over to him. He smiled and returned his soft eyes to the road. "It's sure pouring out, isn't it?" He said, trying to make conversation. I smiled back, "Yeah, it is. I'm soaked... sorry for getting the seats wet." He shook his head in disagreement. "It's not my car, little lady." He laughed. "I don't care, as long as I get you to your destination safely and you're happy with the results, the seats can be as wet as they want to be." I laughed along with his little remark, and told him politely where I had wanted to go.

He stopped and waved to me as I closed the door. "Thank you," I mouthed, and could faintly see him mouth 'You're welcome' under the fog on the window. The rain had cleared up a bit; less violent. I walked up his steps and rang the doorbell. He gave me a cocky smile when he opened the door. "Well well well. What do we have here? Someone crawling back?" I pushed him aside and teared through the house. "I'm not here for you. I'm here for my stuff. Where is all of it?" I demanded. He smiled still and pointed to a room. I walked in, put hadn't noticed that he followed me to it. As I walked in, I noticed there was no lightswitch.
And I was locked in.

He had locked me inside the room, which had no light. It was pitch black, and I immediately flipped around and started banging and kicking on the door. "Hey! Let me out!" All I could hear was his evil chuckle. He came close to the door and whispered. "There's no use. If I can't have you, no one can."
I've heard that line oh too many times. But this time... it was true.

A few hours later, I was sobbing on the ground. My cheeks were burnt red and my eyes wouldn't stop watering.

He'd finally beaten me.

"Watch this!" I grin and toss a rubber ball into the air. Before my hand can catch it again his snatches it out of the air. He offers it back though and I can't supress a laugh at the act he has preformed countless times.

I grab the ball and shake my head in mock disapointment "This time let me catch it. In the mean time you can go sit in the corner and think about you did." I throw the tiny blue ball into the air again and it lands in my palm. I look over at him to see he had not followed my 'orders'.

"Excuse me miss but could you assist me in finding a corner?" He asks in a cheesy old man impression. I grin and roll my eyes at him.

"Actually playtime's over. Let's go get some food." He grins and stands up "That'll work too."

---

We walk out of the resturant laughing "That was so fun!' He says.

"The food was awesome!" I agreed. He looks at his watch and sighs.

"I gotta go." He mutters, obviously disapoint. I am too and groan dramaticly.

"Well see you next time! You're a great friend." And with that he walked off.

----

"Just a great friend... Can't we be more?"
