Cilan's Story wrote:Extreme heat. A quiet stream of maniacal laughter. This was all the small pup experienced before the world went black around him.
He woke up in a small, plain room with one chair for furnature. What is this place? He asked himself as he got up and stretched his legs. He tried to move his tail, but couldn't get it to move the way he wanted it to. When he wanted to move it right, it went left, and so on. He turned to get a look at it and yelped. Where his tail should have been were two snakes! They seemed to be sowed onto his body, and didn't look like they meant any harm.
We are here to aid you, protect you. said a voice inside his head. It was raspy and quiet, and definately wasn't his own. The snakes shared his mind?
Indeed. We need to, to protect you. the voice inside him said. He would have to remember that.
That's what we're for.
Just then, he heard voices outside. He could tell they weren't right outside, but they sure sounded like it. Was something wrong with his ears, too? Could they have been replaced as well, with spiders or bats?
No, no, silly. They are just longer, that's all. said the snakes. Improved hearing? Maybe this wasn't so bad. He decided to pay attention to the voices. He could hear a man and a child.
"Yes, yes. Our first Genetically Enhanced Hound, GEH, was a success. Cilan is ready for adoption, and I think you're the perfect girl for him." He could hear the man saying. So his name was Cilan?
Yes. We could have told you, but we thought it would be better for you to find out yourself. said the snake inside his head.
"Great!" the girl's voice. "Can I have him?"
"Why, of course." The man said. Cilan's eyes grew wide. He was going to be adopted? What did that mean?
Relax. It's for the best. It means we are getting out of here! The snake's voice had climbed to a higher pitch in excitement. Getting out? That sounded pretty good to him.
So yeah. I know I failed at his snakes, but at least I tried.
