There once was a teenage girl by the name of Devin.
She wasn't the prettiest, or the most popular, but she appeared average.. and normal.
She was smart, and she loved music.
In seventh grade, she was bullied by a boy named Jimmy.
He was cruel to her, and constantly harassed her.
She was weak, and couldn't dispel his words.
They dug themselves into her mind, and she found herself believing every word he said.
He told her she should kill herself, and that everything she did was wrong.
He did it to feel powerful, and to be funny.
But the girl took it seriously.
She told a principal, and expected her nightmare to be over.
But the principal did little, if nothing, to help her.
She spoke with the school counselor frequently,
but she was still in his classes.
Soon, Jimmy found out that she had told on him.
He continued his assault, and soon, his threats became serious.
He would come after her.
He would hurt her.
She would feel pain.
Devin became overwhelmed with these threats.
She couldn't take it.
But she hadn't the strength to take her own life.
She was cowardly.
This time, she didn't tell the principal.
She knew that the principal would do nothing,
only provoke Jimmy.
So she let him continue to pummel her with words.
The next year, she found herself separated from him.
He walked near her in the hallways.
Sometimes.
Her anxiety and hyper-vigilance made her aware at all times.
She would not let him get close to her.
She learned that he would be moving across the country at the end of the school year.
She was relieved, and she could hardly suppress her happiness.
She had grown since the previous year.
The week before school let out, her school had a dance for the eighth graders.
He had not spoken to her for months, and when talking to her counselor, that was her biggest fear.
On that day, when she was supposed to be happy, he cornered her in a hallway, and with a malicious smile, hand raised...
spoke.
He apologized... in a way that meant nothing.
He laughed, in a way that made the girl dizzy. She could hardly summon words to get him to go away, but she did.
She ran for her friends, and collapsed to the ground.
On the last day of school, she realized she'd never have to see him again.
But then, something sparked in her mind.
What if his move was all a big lie?
What if he was waiting to strike?
She asked her therapist, and she dismissed the idea, saying it was just anxiety.
That night, Devin was sitting on her bed, and she thought she heard his voice.
This happened often for her, because she often had panic attacks where she would be driven to insanity.
She thought nothing of it.
His voice rang in her mind.
"I promised to come after you."
She shuddered, willing the episode to cease.
She tried to sleep, praying that the voice would quiet.
"I told you that you weren't good enough."
The girl whimpered, wondering where her mother was.
She shrieked when she was a shadow in the window.
"I thought I told you to kill yourself... if shall I do it for you?"
With that, it became all too clear that it was not her head coming up with these words. She saw a gun pointed at her forehead, and she cried tremendously.
Even with a bullet through her head, the tears poured down her cheeks.
Cheeks that were cold and colorless.
**Disclaimer: I just wrote this myself. Most of it is true, but the second half is not. The whole dance part is exaggerated. Urm... if you have questions, PM me. :3
