Story:
She flew through the forest, flowing through the branches of the tall trees in which she made her home in. The small creature slowed to a stop and landed next to her favorite tree. It was the tallest and always gave her shelter from the dreadful long, heavy rains and the teriable flashes of fire that sometimes came from it. The tree had become more than her favorite place, it became her only friend, too. She was seperated from her family when she was very young and knew no others of her kind. She did not even know her own language, but there were a few words that she did remember. One was leaf, the thin green petals of the trees that had kept her alive for all the years of her life that she remembered.
She must have fallen asleep under the tree because when she woke, it was night and the flashes of fire were there along with rain. The wind howled violently and sent some trees crashing to the ground. The tiny dragon clung to her tree, hoping that it would shelter her as always, but something was stirring inside of her. There was a loud crash as one strike hit her tree and set it on fire. The fire jumped from tree to tree, igniting her entire home in a blazing, roaring light.
She flew away as fast as she could. She knew that it was dangerous to fly in a storm, but her heart was pounding and she couldn't stay there any longer. Tears flowed from her eyes, knowing that her home was gone. She flew for miles as fast as her small wings would beat, but the storm seemed to be following her. The next thing she knew, she was falling, then hit the ground.
There was a bright light. At first, she thought that she was dead, but then her vision cleared and it was morning. She was in a different place, a forest with trees that had long, sharp-looking leafs. A young girl no more than fourteen sat beside her and smiled as she stroked her head. "It's okay now, you're going to be okay..." The girl told her. She looked at the girl's hand, where a normal leaf had stuck to. Happy to see something familiar, she lifted her head and nuzzled it softly.
The girl took care of her and taught her her language, which she was eager to learn. They bonded almost immeadetly. She took the girl to the forest where she had lived before the storm. Both were devastated to find that there was nothing left of it but ashes. But, she and the girl planted seads there and new trees sprouted and grew.
Because of her green color and it was the first thing she saw when they first met, the girl named her Leaf.
