Goennec Pen #: 1
Name: Roshan
How would you use him: I would love to have a Goennec! I would put him in my characters thread, buy him art, and most likely use him as a character in a story. {If I use for a story, he might be in the story with my Avaydian Sachna}
Define your Goennec:

The light shone down upon the desert, illuminating the battle. Two Goennecs were fighting, the reason unknown. An angry flick of the ear here, a clash of teeth on fur. The battle is over, and at the paws and hooves of a gray Goennec lay another dead. Staring up at the moon, the Goennec who had won the fight clenched her jaws, kicking aside her dead opponent before continuing on his way.

As the cold brutality of Kaysih was seen through her fighting, and the way she carelessy disposed of her opponent, the two Goennec watching sat stunned. "What? Never seen a female fight like me? Doubt it. Most are to scared. They're dainty and fragile." Kaysih scoffed. "I, on the other hand, am not afraid of a battle." Sneering, the female Goennec continued. "Also, if we're going to take over the land of our... neighboring Goennecs, we must learn to fight."

One female Goennec looked to her brother, who was also watching. She was nervous, but didn't want Kaysih to know. "Roshan, must we follow Kaysih? There are plenty of other herds to join. I don't like the feeling of this." she whispered to her older brother.

Looking at his sister, her bright, clear eyes wide in fright, Roshan felt a brief surge of emotion before flicking it away. "No, Kaysih will be doing us a favor. We must learn to kill, so we will be prepared to face those murderers who killed our father." he replied in a cold voice. "I want my revenge. The 'neighboring herd' isn't such a great place after Hosheu killed our father to take leadership of his own. I doubt many are faring well who were loyal to father."

The herd in the territory next to the barren landscape the three sat on now was a herd that revolved around their leader. In previous years, it was peaceful and content, when Roshan's father was the lead Goennec. But when Hosheu killed him in a fight for leadership, things changed. Those loyal to the previous leader were made to work, gather food, etc., while those loyal and related to the new leader were set higher above the rest of the society. When Roshan's father was killed, Roshan felt a burning rage, wanting anything to take it out on. Fearing for his sister's safety, he brought her to the barren land and Kaysih. There, they listened to the brutal female in her lectures and teachings of how to fight, and watching endlessly as she showed killing techniques. Tonight was 'special'. Tonight, a Goennec from Kaysih's growing herd crossed her one time too many, and was used for demonstration of killing.

"Junay!" Kaysih snapped, bringing them out of their memories. Roshan's younger sister snapped to attention, stammering her small, "Y-yes?"

"I want you to practice with Akales now. Go find him, and when you do, tell him what I have said. Make sure he knows not to kill you, yet. I still have use for you. We strike first tomorrow morning."

Shivering, Junay cast a quick glance at her brother before dashing off to the campsite the small herd had made. This is where they had been preparing for battle over the past few moons. Upon her arrival in camp, she quickly located Akales with little trouble. He was big. Not in the chubby sense, but in that of muscles. Many muscles. Relaying what Kaysih had told her to the big Goennec, he grunted something resembling 'Sure, let's go,' and stood up, leading the young Goennec to a circle in the shelters made for practice.

Back in the sparse shrubbery, Kaysih was practicing her most viciouos moves with Roshan, who was gritting his teeth, trying his hardest not to be beaten. Blocking a kick here, ducking a swipe there, he was getting overconfident. Kaysih sensed this, and played down her skills. Soon it seemed Roshan was winning by much more than he previously was. Out of nowhere, a strike to the head sent him sprawling backwards, landing on his back. Kaysih was standing over him, a smug smile on her face. "I told you you get too confident. That shall be your downfall... just like your father." That hit a tender spot in Roshan, and his face twisted in a glare he tried hard to conceal. He didn't want to be kicked out of the herd, no matter how much he despised it.

Goennec Pen #: 2
Name: Vienne
How would you use him/her:
She is going to be put in the first spot on my character thread, so she will get the most attention when people come to my thread, I may even put her someplace in Forever's thread and find a way to make them friends, I not only love her design, I feel connected with her, she reminds me of myself in goennec form, I feel like she's a part of me I still need to explore. I intend to get as much art as possible for her, and maybe even create a human form for her, and I will definitely think up outfits if I ever get antrho art of her. She is by far the goennec that I've felt the most connected with, and she will probably be the only goennec I decide to adopt, unless I see another one that I feel connected to. I will try to get as much art of her as I get of Forever. The point is, I have a lot in store for her.
On a side note, I actually promised myself to never apply for another character for as long as I live, but I could not pass up the opportunity to win Vienne, I am full-on determined to win her, I am bringing the competition, and I am setting the bar for her.
Define your Goennec:
I personally am not going to state her personality, because if i do, it will ruin the surprise in her background.

Background:

"In time, you will discover who you truly are."
Vienne's mother's last words echoed in Vienne's mind as she padded over the barren and moslt inhabited desert land. There was an astonishingly small number plants, and they were mostly stubby, tough shrubs. The land had almost no water to be seen in the sight of one. Why here? Vienne thought within her mind. Of all places, how did I end up here? She was incapable of understanding why she was there, but there was a reason, there was always a reason for everything that occured in Vienne's life, that's what Vienne's mother used to say, but Vienne wouldn't yield to her mother's opinion, she didn't understand her life. She thought fate was just being cruel to her, and that it laughed at her in times of despair and misery. She didn't know what to do. She was attempting to find a shelter in this barren land, but there wasn't anything to be seen in her sight. Vienne knew she should be terrified, but she wasn't afraid. Most goennecs would be scared if they were in Vienne's position, there were wild dogs, other predators, and natural disasters, but Vienne wasn't afraid, she was prepared to face and overcome anything fate had to throw at her. Suddenly, Vienne saw a cave, at first she thought she was hallucinating, but after marching over to it, she discovered it wasn't her mind playing tricks. She was about to trot inside and slumber when she heard a deep rumbling noise from behind. It sounded like a growl coming from a craeture twice her size and more. She turned around to find the biggest wild dog she had ever seen, towering over her, wanting a fight to the death, and Vienne was prepared for the masacre.

5 and half years earlier...

"Mom! Mom! I see myself in the water!" Vienne, at the young age of one and a half, loved looking into water to see her reflection, although, Vienne noticed that her mother always got a worried expression on her face when Vienne did so. When Vienne asked why her mother did so, her mother said that she was worried Vienne would fall into the water, but Vienne was smarter than to believe that, but she held her tongue for fear of upsetting her mother. Vienne and her mother lived in a pack of six. In their pack, there was one elderly goennec, a couple, a young goennec about three years older than Vienne, and then Vienne and her mother. Vienne's mother had said that her father was killed during an earthquake before Vienne was born. When, Vienne asked what her father looked like and what he was like, her mother always said that it was too painful to talk about, pretending to be melancholy. And with that, they trotted back to the pack to travel. Off to find a new realm to live their eternity of soul in. A place of both mind and reality to rest until the breath they breathe is caught once again and they begin a whole new journey into the unknown and the forgotten.

1 and a half years later...

Deep thunder droned monotonously overhead. Blinding lightning flashed at once. Icy rain pelted the innocent ground. Fierce wind penetrated barriers of comfort while howling like a sorrow wolf. Vienne and her mother lay in the large burrow with the rest of their pack. The burrow was barely large enough to cover all six of them from the wind-driven rain. Vienne lay in the middle of the shivering pack, staying the warmest, but even in the middle, she could feel the frozen wind. The storm lasted for six hours, and in the middle of it, the elderly goennec left to find food, and came back soaked and freezing. Without any food. They said it was too difficult to see anything, let alone gather food. Finally, the squall resided and the small pack was able to climb out of the dingy burrow and into the cool, fresh, breezy air where they were able to loosen up. Unfortunately, the ground was covered in mud. Lots and lots of mud. And because of this mud, the pack soon became covered in mud. Although, the pack didn't look at it as a negative thing, in fact, they created a game out of the mud. A game in which they would see who could slide down the hill first. Yet, they needed to travel once again to a dry region, until they reached their destination, they would have to wander out into the midst of time where everything can be dangerous. Where life and death meet.

1 year later...

The Gods... The Gods know, the Gods know... "Vienne?" "Uh, what? Mother? Was I asleep?" "Vienne, yes, but you were sleeptalking about the, erm, something about gods." Vienne sleepily stretched out on the leaves that had been her bed the night before, and slowly stood up. "I-I-I- I was dreaming about gods, I can't recall my dream, exactly, but the Gods know, the Gods know... Something. I don't remember what, but they know..." Vienne sat upon her bed with a puzzled, yet troubled expression. "The Gods of Osirus..." Vienne's mother mumbled. "Yes! The Gods of Osirus! I was draeming about them. Mother, what exactly are the Gods of Osirus?" Her mother looked up at her, startled. Vienne looked around, noticing that her pack was still asleep in their various beds around her. "Vienne, well, the Gods of Osirus have been the gods of goennecs everywhere for as long as anyone knows. According to legend, there were three gods: Ocerus, God of the Sea, Fierus, the God of Fire, and Cumicus, God of the Sky," Vienne listened intently as her mother continued the story. "These were the gods of the goennecs, and they were immortal. Although, sometimes, these gods had children with mortal goennecs. These children had the various powers of their godly parent. If the gods were impressed by their child, they would bring the child up to Gosephia, which is where all three gods resided. The child would be put through three tests, and if the child passed all of them, they would become a god. However, if the child failed one of them, they... Well, they would be sentanced to death." Vienne looked bewildered and amazed. "Mother, were these gods real?" "Well, Vienne, no they're just myths." Vienne looked mildly dissapointed, so she trotterd off to find some food. Her mother watched her and murmured so quietly no one could hear her, "If only she knew."

1 year later...

"Vienne!" The goennec that was about three years older than Vienne was taunting her. He was on one side of a raging river, while Vienne was on the other, too scared to jump. The other goennec had just been able to barely clear the jump, and he jeered at Vienne for being too terrified to jump. Vienne was angry at the other goennec though, and deep inside of herself, she felt a fire blazing within. She was furious yet scared at the same time, she wanted to jump, but she doubted her chances of making across. The water in the river moved rapidly, it was deadly to anyone who fell in, but Vienne didn't care. The fire within her grew stronger as she felt more confident to jump. She decided that no river was going to stop her. So she trotted backwards so she could get a running start on the jump. "Vienne! What are you doing? Are you scared or something?" No, Vienne thought to herself. Just the opposite. She started galloping towards the river with all her might. She was faster than she thought she'd be, and when she leaped off the ground and into the air, she flew further than she thought she was capable of. Vienne landed on the other side of the river with grace, and was stunned for a moment, realizing she had just jumped over the river. The other goennec, shocked by what Vienne had done, quickly made an attempt to leap over the river again. The other goennec, however, was not as smart as Vienne, and jumped on impulse. The other goennec flew through the air, but fell a few inches from the banks, plumeting into the raging water. He knew that the river held his death card.

1 year later...

Smoke. Smoke? Smoke! Vienne awoke, startled to find herself surrounded by smoke and the crackling sound of flames. Realizing there was a fire, Vienne instantly got up and started looking around, Everything was clouded with smoke, but she noticed shapes moving about to her left. So, sprining over to the shapes, she found her mother, the elderly goennec, and the goennec couple. There were only five goennecs in her pack now, seeing how the other goennec drowned in a river about one year ago. Her pack seemed to be in a ring of fire. "Vienne!" Her mother tried to yell among the sound of crackling flames and the rest of her pack coughing. "Vienne, escape! Run, quickly!" "Mother, where am I to run? Everything is being consumed by flames!" Vienne didn't know what to do, but the odd thing is that she didn't feel the heat of the fire, in fact, the presence of the fire made her feel stronger. Vienne looked around and spotted a river. "Mother, direct the pack over to the river!" And with that, Vienne and her pack stumbled over to the river, being flicked with flames and engulfed with smoke. Fianlly, after a painstaking walk, they reached the river, and one by one they jumped over it onto the other side. The other side of the river wasn't completely protected from the fire, butit was safer, and the pack could walk off to someplace safe. So, they started their journey, but about two miles from the river, the elderly goennec in Vienne's pack started coughing, and fell to the ground. The pack stopped and tried to help the elderly goennec up, but her refused. They stayed with him, though, they stayed with him until one morning when Vienne woke up and found that her whole pack except for her mother was gone. "Mother? Where is the rest of the pack?" "Well," Her mother looked melancholy. "Vienne, they're digging a grave."

1 year later...

"They're coming!" Vienne awoke to the bustling of her pack. Her mother was panicking. "Mother! What is happening?" "Vienne, a pack of wild dogs is coming, we need to escape or hide." Vienne was not expecting this, it also meant that her first enemy would be coming. Vienne's pack, which only had four goennecs in it, was trying to hide someplace, but the wild dogs were coming fast. Finally, Vienne's pack was hidden in verious places. Vienne and her mother were in a burrow underneath a bush, while the goennec couple were in between some rocks. Then, the wild dogs came. They were at least twice the size of Vienne and there were six of them, and one of them was leading the pack. the leader lifted his snout and sniffed the air, then he made a signal to his pack to start searching, he had smelled Vienne's pack. The wild dogs searched and sniffed, Vienne and her mother were too well hidden to see what was happening, but they heard the yelp of a goennec. The yelp was from one of goennecs in Vienne's packs, which was followed by a series of yelps, growls, and snaps. Vienne guessed that the wild dogs had killed the goennec couple or at least injured them badly. The leader was about to lead his pack someplace else when he smelled more goennecs, live goennecs. The leader signaled his pack to start searching. "Vienne," Her mother whispered. "If anything happens, strt running, don't stay for me, just save yourself." Vienne nodded, although she didn't like the idea of leaving her mother. One of the wild dogs started scratching at the bush Vienne and her mother were hidden underneath. The rest of the pack came, too. And soon, they were uncovering their burrow. Vieene and her mother started climbing out of the burrow, and as soon as they were out, they ran as fast as they could. Vienne found that she was faster than her mother. Although, Vienne's mother couldn't outrun the wild dogs, and they were soon at her heels. Vienne stopped and looked back, seeing her mother trying to fight off the pack. The leader of the pack bit vienne's mother's neck. He seemed unsatified, though, and commanded the pack to leave. Vienne rushed over to her mother, who was slowly dying. "Mother, I-I-I can't leave you." "Vienne, you'll have to, goodbye Vienne, I always loved you." The leader of the pack was watching the scene, Vienne looked over at him. She looked into his eyes, one was brown, the other was gold, she knew she would remember his face for the rest of her life. "Mother, please don't leave!" "Vienne, when you leave this place, go north for as long as you can, don't change direction. And, Vienne, I need you to remember something." "What is it, Mother?" Her mother sighed, and then said her final words. "In time, you will discover who you truly are."

1 year later...

"In time, you will discover who you truly are."

She turned around to find the biggest wild dog she had ever seen, towering over her, wanting a fight to the death, and Vienne was prepared for the masacre.

Vienne had been traveling north for as long as she could remember, but she didn't see what was so important about traveling north, her mother had told her to do so, but Vienne didn't understand why, and now she was face to face with a wild dog. Vienne looked up at the wild dog, she looked up into his eyes. One was brown, the other gold. Vienne knew the wild dog, it was the one that had killed her mother. At first, Vienne's thoughts were to run away, but she had to fight the wild dog. She had to get revenge. She stood up tall and glared at the dog, waiting for an attack. The wild dog lunged at Vienne's right foreleg, but she ddged his attck. She retaliated by biting his left forepaw, giving hin a deep wound that disabled his running abilities. the wild dog couldn't run as well, but he could easily lunge at her. H swiped his paw across her left shoulder, creating a deep wound. Vienne roared in pain, but she kept on fighting. She felt as if a fire was blazing within her, it made her feel stronger. She ran underneath the wild dog's legs, momentarily confusing him and causing to stumble back and fall on top of his spine. He yelped, and couldn't get up for several seconds. Vienne quickly leaped upon his chest and went in for the kill. Her wound was painfully deadly, and her vision was starting to blur, but nothing would stop her. She bared her teeth, and climbed up to his neck. Then, with one deadly bite, she tore his throat open. She leaped off of him and started limping away. He got up, stunned, and started toppling towards Vienne, torrents of blood coming from his mouth and wound. Vienne limped as fast as she could, but he still came closer, until he was above her. Then, with one last shudder, he collasped, landing on half of Vienne. He trapped her back legs from moving, no matter how hard Vienne struggled. Vienne knew she would die if she couldn't escape, she would die from loss of blood before hunger or thirst. It soon became night, and the moon cast a shallow brightness across the land. Then, when Vienne thought she had reached the end, a light appeared. It seemed to hover above Vienne. Vienne felt her wound healing slowly, and the wild dog's body on her back legs seemed to become lighter, until Vienne could crawl out from underneath it. Vienne limped about five feet away from the wild dog, then settled. What just happened? Vienne thought to herself. What is happening? Before she knew it, Vienne was somehow being lifted into the light above her, she seemed to be floating into the sky. She floated until she was soon placed upon a stone platform on top of a cloud. What? How is this happening? Vienne was quite confused. "Vienne," A loud voice boomed overhead. "I have chosen you to come to my land, but first, do you want to know anything?" Vienne was very puzzled, but she did want to know something. "I want to know who I truly am." The voice quickly replied in a casual tone, "You are Vienne, daughter of Fierus, the God of Fire."

Vienne gasped, she always knew she was different from other goennecs, but she never expected herself to be the child of a god.The stone platform Vienne was standing on started lifting up into the air, until it reached a monstrous cloud. On the cloud, was Gosephia. Vienne marveled at the huge palaces and monuments, they were all made out of cream-colored rock that shone brightly. In the middle of everything, there was a huge palace made out of granite. "Come, Vienne." The voice boomed once again, Vienne looked up to find a huge white goennec that glowed gold standing before her with a waiting expession on his face. "Um, who are you?" Vienne asked in a tembling voice. "Well, i am Gosirus, messanger of the gods, I am the one who retrieves children of the gods such as you." He pointed a paw at Vienne. "Now, come meet the gods." Vienne gulped, she was nervous to meet the gods, it had all happened so fast to her. Gosirus led Vienne up a walkway to the granite palace. When they arrived, Vienne noticed that the palace looked much bigger closer up, and she noted that the doors on it were huge. the doors were also made of granite. The large doors opened, and inside were the three gods, each sitting on their own throne. The gods were at least twice the size of Gosirus, and Vienne was frightenedof them for a moment. The god on the left was different shades and hues of blue, with markings that looked like the ocean. His throne was made out of water, Vienne guessed it was Ocerus, God of the Sea. The god in the middle was white and light blue, but he had markings that looked like different types of weather, his throne was made out of clouds, Vienne guessed it was Cumicus, the God of the Sky. The god on the right had red, orange, and yellow fur with markings that looked like fire, Vienne noticed that her coat resembeled his. His throne was made out of fire, Vienne guessed it was her father, Fierus, the God of Fire. "Vienne," Fierus said. "Come step up to us gods." And with that, Vienne stepped up to the three gods of Osirus, and her father.

"Vienne," Fierus said. "You have proven to us that you are worthy of attempting to pass the three trials to become a god." Vienne nodded. "You do realize that if you pass the three trials, you will become a god and become immortal. If you fail one of the trials, you will be sentanced to death." "Fierus, I understand." Vienne replied. "Very well then, you will randomly pick three trials out of the eight available." Vienne nodded once again. "Gosirus," Fierus commanded. "Fetch the scrolls." Gosirus quickly left and cam back with a basket full of eight scrolls. "Vienne, you may select three of those, go do so now." Fierus ordered. Vienne trotted over to the basket, and randomly pulled three from the basket. Fierus got off his throne and picked the scrolls up to examine them. The names of your trials have been chosen, they are: Race the Moon, Survival Or Death, and Forever Broken." All the gods and Osirus looked grim, Vienne was scared. The names made the challenges sound deadly. "Ocerus, Cumicus, and I shall each explain a trial to you. I will go first in explaining Race the Moon. In this trial, you must race a full grown stallion horse at midnight, you will have to carry a flaming torch with you. You must reach the finish line before the stallion." Ocerus cleared his throat. "I shall explain Survival or Death to you. In this trial, you will placed on an island with nothing but two small rabbits and a small stream of fresh water, you will have to survive for one month, there will also be a few trees on the island." And I shall explain Forever Broken to you." Said Cumicus. "In this trial, your tail bone, right forepaw bone, and left back leg bone will be broken. You must reach Osirus, who will be many miles from your starting place. You will not encounter any enemies, and foos will be plentiful, but you must catch your food. There will also be natural disasters and other obstacles you will encounter along the way." Fierus said, "Vienne, are you ready to start your trials immediately?" Vienne replied confidently, "Yes, Fierus, I am."

Race the Moon...

Vienne picked up the flaming torch she was supposed to carry in her mouth for her first trial. She was nervous, yet determined. Right before Gosirus was about to lead Vienne to the field in which she would race, Fierus called Viene over. "Now, Vienne, remember that your torch isn't just a symbol of your godly parent, it can be used as a weapon, too." And with that, Gosirus led her to a grassy plain. In the middle stood a huge, white stallion, he was pure white, and Vienne realized why the challenge was called Race the Moon. The stallion was like the moon. Vienne sighed, she had accepted the trials, but she wished she hadn't. Vienne stood next to the stallion and waited for the starting call. "The race has begun." Gosirus said calmly. The stallion started speeding off, and left Vienne in the dust. Vienne was a fast runner though, and before long she wasn't too far behind the stallion. The fire from the torch she held seemed to impower her. The stallion didn't see a ditch and his one of his hooves slipped in side, momentarily disabling the stallion. Vienne raced ahead as the stallion struggled to get out of the ditch. Vienne took the opportunity to throw the flaming torch behind her, starting a fire right in front of the stallion. The stallion whinied, but it couldn't pass the flames. Vienne thought she was doing good until she came across another fire that had seemed to pop out of no where. There was no way to get around the fire wall. Well, Vienne thought to herself. Let the powers of Fierus be with me! And she plunged into the wall of flames. The flames were about fifty feet wide, but Vienne kept through. When she finally reached the other side, she found that her fur had only a little carbon in it, so she was happy she was still alive. She heard the stallion coming closer though. How did he get through the flames? Vienne thought. She lloked behind her to find that the stallion had sprouted wings and was gaining on her. Vienne pushed herself harder, she saw Gosirus in the distance, he was only about five yards away, but the stallion was getting closer and closer until it was almost at Vienne's side. Vienne raced harder, and she passed over the finish line and collasped behind Gosirus. Every muscle in her body ached. "Gosirus," Vienne panted. "Who won?" "Well, Vienne, you did by about an inch." "I did? Yay, I won..." And with that, Vienne passed out on the ground.

Decided that I need another Goennec to give Hatter a history and a bit more depth, but I'll wait for next week, or whenever the perfect one crops up, however long that'll take. :3

Kama, would Goennecs ever, for any reason, fight to the death? Because I might be using that for my story.

Since they live in herds, there'd be a 'stallion' of sorts. If he was challenged they may fight to the death. Females though, you'd have to be creative with. There wouldn't really be a reason for two females to fight
