Mayia Arakai Hikamaru
Years of being pushed around… Pulled from what she called home and into a place seen as a beautiful place. This beautiful city was nothing more than atrocious, Mayia's eyes fixed on the street as she sat, crouched int he alleyways of the Black Market. This was the place she spent most of her time, though it was teaming with people. Just too many for her to feel comfortable. The only reason she was here for the calico cat that laid upon her lap, the one that needed even more care than she did to survive. She dragged her fingers across his back and looked at the pills she was able to swipe. The medicine in this place wasn't great, but it kept young Hamlet alive, the cat sound asleep after having been so uncomfortable and restless from the pain of his own heart. When the cat woke himself up again, Mayia let a soft smile crack her lips, a hooded cloak hiding that smile from the Black Market goers. "Good morning." She murmured softly, letting the cat climb up to her shoulders. The kit was young, but not so helpless that she had to dote on him. He was ill, but manageable. A fighter, just like her. That was why she loved the little cat, no matter what happened.

"Time to go home?" She asked him, a low purring in her ear telling her otherwise. She glanced around her, nothing in the alley to stop her, and not a single recognizable sole roaming the markets. Even then, she could hear Hamlet whisper to her, "Something is amiss… We need to be careful, or you might get hurt again." Her smile faded the second she started to walk, disregarding the warning by simply petting the kit. "Hush… I can take a hit, you know." She murmured softly, the fear in her eyes from the thought of having to fight again, but her voice making it clear that she would if she had to. She was glad for the hood on her coat, the one that helped to hide her eyes, along with her long bangs. She would rather not let her weaknesses be known from a single glance that told all of her fear. "Hamlet, want to get something to eat before we go? I have a little money left." She murmured softly, glancing back at the cat who perched on her shoulder, the sweet little creature having moved up to her head and flopped down on his stomach. She could see his little paws hanging in front of her face, but that probably wasn't the bast place for a cat to be in a city like Pith. Well.. As long as no one tried to hurt him, it should be just fine.

Nicolai Ruan
Nicolai did his work quietly, wiping off the tables and forcing that occasional smile at customers. If he scared away any business, he'd lose this job for sure, and this was the easiest job that he was able to get in months. Years, really. He was paying rent for his apartment, so as much as he hated the work that dealt with people, that was the only kind of job that he could get. Hard labour, or public service of any kind forced him to deal with annoying bosses, employees and customers, but it was work, and he got paid decently enough. It made this torture worth while, and gladly as well, he didn't need to stay for much longer. He brought a tray of dishes to the back and was soon dismissed, a sigh passing his lips as he tossed off his his apron and tossed it onto the rack, dressed in a thick, vintage aviator jacket modelled after the ones that had been worn back in the Great War. He kind of envied those people… Their lives were exciting, up until the day that they died. They weren't living in the best time, but heck, anything was better than this. Living a mundane city, doing nothing day in and day out other than sleeping, eating and working like clockwork. He didn't live in the heart of the city, but he still lived in a place where living wasn't very hard at all.

With his golden eyes glinting under the shadow of his hazelnut coloured hair, Nicolai looked up at the murky sky, expecting it to rain at any minute. "What to do…" He huffed softly with his hands tucked away in the pockets of his thick brown pants to keep the chemicals out. He had some time to kill, but what was there to do in this town? Eat? No thanks… He was stuffed from snacking between his runs. Sleep? What was the point of that when he had the time to sleep ten hours before having to get into work. Hang out with friends? Yeah right… Nicolai wasn't the kind to make friends so easily. He preferred not having friends, since he was able to see how much drama went down when people allowed themselves to trust the wrong people. He wasn't going to be letting himself get manipulated like that again.

••••••••••

The sensation of Faith gripping his shoulder helped Kyle relax as he hung back in one of the darker alley's of the East Side. He wore his hat at a certain angle so that it covered the bold, black brand on the back of his neck. He pulled his jacket across his chest and heaved a deep sigh as he lifted his gaze to the sky. It was fairly overcast but, then again, when was it ever a 'beautiful day in paradise'. "Pfft, paradise my a**," he grumbled under his breath, his hoarse voice full of disdain. A delicate but sharp peck on the top of his head had Kyle restraining a chuckle and grin. He cleared his throat a little before lifting his pale blue eyes to the falcon on his shoulder.

Kyle had found Faith by chance. She'd been injured, her wing broken from a storm the previous night. He knew she in danger of being scouped up by some other predator so, out of instinct, he took her back to the Divided's hide-out underground. He had thought that it was cruel, at first, to keep her in the darkness when she was truly supposed to rule the skies. But, as he saw the falcon become much more stronger, she never seemed to want to leave him. She'd fly away sometimes only to return a few minutes later with some sort of dead mouse or vole. He felt as though he had to make sure that no cruelty came to her again and so, they have been 'friends' ever since.

She cawed softly into his ear, causing him to flinch a little, before he stroked some of the down feathers on her back. Her large brown eyes closed momentarily, as though she were enjoying it, before her wings rustled at her sides and Kyle withdrew his hand, watching as she shot off elegantly into the sky. He had no fears of her return. She'd often disappear for a few days at a time. There had been times that, beside his concerns with the United and the United Peace Core, he'd been concerned for her and worried if she would ever return. She would always surprise him.

Kyle heaved yet another sigh as he let his gaze return to the streets. The whole reason he was here was to make sure no 'trouble' came their way and he guessed that Faith was doing her job of assisting him. He bit his lip a little as his eyes racked through the hustles of people. But, much to his relief, there seemed to be no apparent troubles as of yet.

Kate Beasley:

{Female/15/Divided/Minor telekinesis/Heteroromantic asexual/Single/Mood: Average}

There was nothing that she could do. The United were closing in, ready to end her life. No, they couldn't; they wouldn't! They were part of the government; they were supposed to protect everyone! It was all a contradiction!

Heart thudding in her chest, Kate sat straight up in the mattress called her bed, frantically looking around the simply dully coloured room for any signs of the United. There was nothing, yet she could still feel a presence in there, waiting for her to make the wrong move. She would make the wrong move, someday, and they would find it and use it to take her down. But what would that mistake be? Would it be letting the fact that she was a Divided slip on accident?

"It's fine, it's perfectly fine," the telekinetic mumbled under her breath, trying to calm herself from the nightmare. "There's no one here, nothing that could possibly happen to me."

For the past two weeks, nightmares had been plaguing Kate's sleep. She didn't know what to do about it, except try to keep her mind off of what was going on. Reading definitely wouldn't help her out in a situation like this; that would only make her think too much about the present situation. Not even Bully could take her mind off of the nightmares.

Before she could even react to the massive pawsteps coming in through the door, Bully was standing in front of Kate, a dead pigeon in front of his paws. Oh joy, another gift, Kate thought to herself, looking at the "delicacy" placed in front of her dog's paws. It was nice having a dog that was willing to hunt whenever it gets bored; it was much cheaper getting your own meat than buying it off the market. But then again, cooked pigeon, rat, or whatever Bully decided to drag home that day wasn't exactly the most grand of meals.

Picking the torn, still bleeding pigeon off of the floor, Kate headed out into the ancient hallway and down the stairs with the always enthusiastic and friendly, lolloping beast named Bully. Lying there, in the couch, was the elderly lady that was willing to let a psychopath, sociopath, and Divided live in her house. And Kate didn't care at all about her. She had somewhere to stay; that was all she cared about. Once the old lady was dead, Kate would have the entire house, as well as everything in it, to herself. No one to worry about.

Before she headed out, the telekinetic placed the pigeon in the kitchen sink to let it drain of blood. Maybe she would have the pigeon as a meal tonight, maybe as a meal for tomorrow; she couldn't tell when she would feel the need to eat next. Heading out the door with her lolloping mutt, Kate quickly blended into the group of the travelers walking on the sidewalk. And now, her main job for the Divided began.

The will to win is important. But the will to survive is Vital.

The young man was perched elegantly on the rooftop of a tall building. there were long plated windows that wrapped themselves around the entire building Cascading down until they reached the ground below, the glass reflected in the dim light. His position was straight backed with perfect posture, but the hood covering over the Young mans face was shrouded in a thick blanket of shadows concealing his identity from anyone that might have been able to see him. Still and silent, Lile could feel the cool air pick up around him, the Striking blonde hair around his face, flicked across his face twice before Lile sighed and made his move. There was no job to be done tonight no person needed to be put out of the united world. As Lile rose to his feet the silver weimaraner stood too her long tail flagging the air as she let out a small woof to her master. Letting out a deep exhale of breath from his lungs.'come on Ghost lets go"...

Lile had been sitting on the building for almost an hour, now his feet were firmly planted on the ground, the silver god padding along off leash behind him. His marked neck was still hidden beneath his hood, he no longer had that eerie, man on the ledge mystery essence cling to him, to anyone who passed him he might have looked like a normal united citizen on there way home. Resting his pale hand on the dogs head beside him, he looked down he was heading right for that part of town. where he could finally relax and put his hood down where he wouldn't have to worry about what people saw on the back of his neck. he could feel his ball, and tighten as he looked once behind him for any one tailing him, the Lile and ghost slid into the ally's shadows the door embedded in the brick at the very end, another young man was disappearing into the door frame. a man was always there at the door and all though Lile may not have visited the underground of united much he knew what he needed to do. rapping the top of his knuckle three times on the metal door, a small creak and he was granted access into the bottom of the United.

The other young man on there way down the small flight of stairs pulled off his hood the back of his neck flashing a clear double lines of black ink tattooed there. Lile copied the action, he hated showing it off even if people side stepped him and gave him the space he so desired from it. his stomach was empty the smell of oil and fresh cigarettes wafted him, along the with normal stench that accompanied the criminals and suck down here. though it reeked Lile loved the almost adrenilin rush feeling he got when he stepped into the midths of this croud.--keep your head high, and don't think about what they think-- ghost whined and let her tail sink, going limp. she had always hated it here. Lile kept a cautious glance rotating around him at all times but looked discreet and solid as he walked though the eyes that seemed to pin themselves to the tattoo.

Яσωαи LEANED INTO THE COUNTER, TUCKING A STRAY PIECE OF HAIR BEHIND HER EAR. "HUH," SHE BREATHED. The tall, slender man standing behind the counter wrung his hands and eyed her anxiously. Rowan winced as Monster clawed his way out of her t-shirt and clambered onto the table. Animal mutilation was the sick sport of the impoverished beggars that lived throughout the city. "Monster", as he was appropriately named, was a victim. His left eye wouldn't open all the way, and half of his ear on the same side has been sliced off. His back was hunched, and a scar on the pad of his right hind foot gave him an odd, trotting gait. His tail was kinked at the tip and he had bald patches where he had been set on fire. But in spite of his previous trauma, he had retained his affectionate, kitten-like personality, and he stuck to Rowan like glue. The disfigured black cat batted at the expensive jewelry on display, making the shop owner cringe. Rowan ignored the cat and ran her finger along a diamond studded watch.
"Ha-have you got the money to pay for that?" The old man inquired nervously, a thick accent slurring his speech. There was a pause.
"Nope. None at all," Rowan replied frankly, slipping the watch onto her wrist. The man furrowed his brow, looking baffled. But as he began to realize what this meant, his expression turned angry. As his face reddened, Rowan looked coolly up from her hand. "But... that's OK, right?" She tilted her head to one side, and smiled sweetly. That's OK, right? The words echoed inside the shop owner's head, and he nodded slowly.
"Only for you," he said offhandedly. Rowan gave a nod of satisfaction and lifted her cat off of the counter.
"Sweet. Later." With that, she draped Monster around her neck, and slipped back into the crowd.

Vegas leaned back against his desk, the leather of his gloves straining against his knuckles. He was focused on the map on the wall in front of him. It was the entire city of Pith, divided into districts. He was focused on the East Side, where he had heard rumors that The Black Market was being held. The problem they were just that rumors. He had yet to get a location, and though a blemish on Pith's image, it was too large to search. His heavy set brow wrinkled over his narrowed eyes and he grunted under his breath. He was frustrated, he had yet to get any closer to The Divided rebels and the council was not listening to his wishes about stopping The Cureing Program and instead just putting them down. He had to find someway to take these dangerous rebellions out. Vegas moved to his map and drove a tack into the paper, he would send someone out. Just to keep an eye on the streets.

|| Aasiyah Sari Valeska || 21 Years Old Female || Second in Command of the United Peace Core ||

Walking in a brisk pace, a young female with flowing raven hair made her way through the halls of the UPC. People stopped and stared at the petite girl who was dragging a scraggly male who couldn’t be much older than 30 behind her. The man was kicking and screaming; however, this didn’t seem to faze the young female.
“Please miss, I’ll tell you what you want to know! Just please don’t take me to….to….HIM!!!” The man broke out of the female’s tight grasp and bowed on his knees. He pleaded to the now irritated female; begging for anything but a visit to the Leader of the UPC. Growling with impatience, the female raised her hand as if she was about to slap the man. Seeing this, the man flinched, little sobs coming out of his mouth.
Knocking on the pair of large Cherry wood doors 3 times, the young female opened a door and ushered the man into a large room. It was nice and professional; of course it had to be for the Office of the Leaders. Turning to her right the female headed towards another pair of doors. Giving the door a single knock before entering, the female shoved the man inside the private office of the Leader of the UPC.
“Vegas,” the female spoke to the young male sitting at the desk. “I have found someone you will want to meet.” The female gestured to the man that had his back against the doors.
“Rufus come and sit down. There, there, no need to be so afraid. Just tell this man what you told me about the supposed Black-market.”

Name~ Nyx
Age~ Fourteen
Gender~ Female
Side~ Divided
Mood~ Bored
Located~ Black Market
Status~ Single
Current Activity~ Using Illusions
Image

Nyx stared at the bustling crowd, tossing a small purple ball back and forth between her hands. Like usual, she was dressed in short shorts and a shirt that didn't cover her belly, but she was wearing a weird black poncholike thing with a hood. It looked a little strange, and she knew it did, but who didn't look strange in the Black Market? People didn't even glance her way, unless it was one of the many dirty men leering for her attention, possible hoping for a fun night. She always ignored them, or moved to a different location.
She stopped tossing the ball and put it one of many pockets her poncho thing held. She smiled a little as she felt it fade from view, into nothing. Her illusions were getting better, more solid looking. She had practiced with the ball hundreds of times, and will practice it a hundred more, until it looked right.
The young illusionist pushed herself up from the wall she was leaning on, and began wandering through the crowd. She went to where the crowd was thickest, enjoying the feeling of people moving this way and that around her. She moved expertly through the swarms of warm bodies like someone who did this daily, pausing occasionally to eye the wares people were selling.
She stopped in front of one hastily made stall and stared blankly at the contents on the desk. It was a bunch of junk, mostly twisted and useless metal. She looked up at the owner, a greasy man with clever eyes, and raised an eyebrow. "What's all this?"
The man smirked. but remained silent.
"You know this is only junk, right, sir? A bunch of hunks of metal." She pointed to one piece, a chunk of brass covered in copper wires. "And that? I know nothing about mechanics or whatever its called, and I know that's not useful. You might want to restock on merchandise, sir."
As she spoke, the mans eyes darkened more and more, and his nostrils flared. Nyx quickly ducked under his fist, face remaining questioning. "You call that a hit? You got it all wrong, moron." Before the man could do anything else, she quickly slipped into the throbbing mass of people, smiling a little.

|| If you're going to kick authority in the teeth, you might as well use two feet ||

Kay felt the buzz of electricity through the entire market. A low hum that he could feel deep in his bones, it made him feel alive and ready for a fight; if needed. Kay paused at a stall, stepping closer as his gaze flickered over the books. They were old and torn, worn from years of abuse and passing hands. They were on the list of outlawed books and one of them caught his attention. The History of The Divided. He had read a copy, long ago and he could still remember everything inside. The Divided, his group had taken on the name with pride but the origin of the name came from when The United was first created. When they blamed the people with powers for The Great War, that it was their fault the world was Divided in battle. Before the stall keeper could say anything he moved on and to the tables he needed. Medication, cheap and illegal kinds, the kinds that he needed. He usually got most of the painkillers, to pass out on the street for those who needed it. The United said they helped anyone in need, but they did not believe in handing out Drugs; so Kay did. It didn't take long to come to a deal, he was there at least once a week. He handed over the cash, real cash, and stuffed the bottles into his bag. Without even a nod he was off once more, heading for the next stop.

"What is it!?" He growled at the knock. Turning as his second in command came through, towing a sobbing man in her wake. The mention of The Black Market made the scowl ease slightly and his eyes spark with interest. "So you have something to tell me about The Black Market." He approached the man in the chair, giving him a once over and disliking what he saw. Another scum who tainted the name of The United. "That is something I would enjoy hearing..." he searched for what the mans name was, Aasiyah had mentioned it, "Rufus." Instead of sitting in a chair, Vegas leaned against his desk. His presence was demanding, his eyes as cold as stone and unwavering as he stare the snitch down.
