The background is the character's history and/or future. You might write about their early life, an important event that happened to them, things like that. The purpose of it is mostly to show the character in action, how they react to things and what they're like. The personality and the background are the two most important parts of the form, since that's where your character needs to 'come to life'. :3

Older members have no better chance at winning a character than a brand new member. Not many people win with their first form submitted here, since it often takes a little practice and also a bit of luck to win, but it's certainly not unheard of. ^^
