Why I want this Character:
It just caught my eye when I was surfing CS. I happened to stumble upon this thread, and as I scrolled down the page, I saw the adorable pup. There is no way to describe how I felt. It was adorable! I would love to use it as a character, and also display it everywhere. SO ADORABLE!!
Name:
Cassie
I love that name!
Age:
8 weeks
Gender:
Female
Personality:
Cassie is... Shy. Quiet. Afraid. Scared. Sad. Those words all describe her. Shy, she's afraid to talk to anyone, preferring to be away from other people and be quiet. Not fun or bubbly, Cassie prefers to spend time alone. Afraid. Afraid of death, letting anyone get too close, afraid of life. She rarely ever vocalizes her thoughts or feelings, upon first meeting her many have though she was mute, and they are always surprised when they first hear her voice. Though she normally never lets it show, she is deeply lonely. She hides this well behind a mask of unabideing kindness, and because of her deep set loneliness she has made a silent pact never to leave anything lonely like herself.
History:
Doors slammed. Stray dogs barked. Then everything was quiet. It was humans. They were dressed in white lab coats. Scientists. They took away the strays, and brought them to their labs. All strays shuddered at that word. Only one stray had ever been seen coming back from the lab. Rumors had started spreading that you only came back if you were still sane. Even pups had been taken. Even other species had been taken. How do I know this? I was once taken there. First, let me introduce myself. My name is Cassie. I am a young fox, or so people had told me. It took me years to figure out the truth. Having no parents, I was forced to live on the streets.
The pale round orb in the sky (which I later learned was the moon) glittered ever so brightly. It was a normal night. I was scrounging for food as usual. My ribs showed through my mahogany-colored fur. Then the scientists came. I had just spotted a tempting bone still covered in a bit of meat. Forcing myself to look up, I saw large nets snagging up dogs. On instinct, I scampered around a corner. But my curiosity got the better of me, I peered around the corner. My amber eyes bulged, and my ears strained to hear what the humans were saying. Through my deep concentration, I couldn't hear the man sneaking up behind me. A net was pulled over me. I thrashed and whimpered, but the man didn't even glance at me. Then I was thrown into the back of a car. The doors slammed shut, and everything was quiet. There was no sound. I was alone.
Finally, I was taken out from the car. As soon as the doors opened, I jumped from the back of the car and ran as fast as I could. Free at last! I thought happily. But, one of the men caught my leg and held on tight. I yelped, and felt myself being dragged back. Reluctantly, we entered the building. The sight of the building astounded me. White walls surrounded the room in a tight square. There was only a few bits of furniture. Is this it? I wondered. But then I saw a door that led to another room. It was tightly shut, but to my horror, I could screams and yelps coming from it. The man sat down in a chair by the door. I gulped. It was clear that I would be brought into the room. Soon the nurse who stood at a desk looked up "Rob, we are ready for you." Rob stood up taking me with him. He opened the door, holding me tightly in his arms. I was placed on a cold silver table. It was raised off the ground slightly. A scientist strapped me in so I couldn't move. Over me, a pale yellow light glinted off a needle. One of the scientists fed me something that made me feel woozy, and before I knew it, I was asleep.
When I woke up, I knew I wasn't the same. My eyes could only just make out the shape of Rob and the other scientists. I... what happened? I bided my time waiting for my eyes to see clearly. Soon, the hazy blobs changed to shapes. And the shapes changed to the distinct form of the humans. They were chattering happily to each other. "It worked!" I managed to hear Rob say. "Finally" one of the other men nodded. I glowed with pride, though I wasn't sure why. It seemed that I had started to trust these men. But, dear reader, it will not last. Have you heard the saying trust is number 1? Well it's not true. These men would throw away my trust like it was garbage.
I gave a loud growl. That got the mens attention. Rob took a step forward and started to stroke my head. I almost immediatly calmed down. The other scientists let out a sigh of relief. "Bring her over here" a man motioned to him. Rob cradled me in his arms, and brought me to yet another room. This one had strange creatures in it. Then I realized these were dogs. Some I even recognized. They growled and barked at me. I dug my head into Rob's arm. He would protect me if these dogs tried to hurt me. But, he placed me on the ground while the other scientists watched me with clipboards. I looked up at Rob hoping he would pick me up again. When he didn't I glanced around anxiously at the other dogs. They didn't seem that interested in me. One dog did step forward though. He was a huge Doberman Pinchser. To big. He had been mutated to this humongous size. I could tell he was the boss because everyone cowered when he got near them. I immediatly started doing submissive maneuvers. Oh how silly I felt! This seemed to impress him though, and he stepped back to look at me. A nod to the other mutants allowed them to step forward.
The other mutants stepped closer to sniff me. This was normal for many dogs. It was a relief to see these dogs weren't insane. Like that dog I had once seen. It was a horrible day. Many had been killed, but that is beside the point. After everyone had sniffed me, the humans stepped in. Each held a bag of food which the tossed to us. Everyone stepped back to let the alpha eat. It was soon I learned that newcomers ate last. We only got what little was left. There were so many mutants that I hardly got any food. My hardships didn't stop there. I had to slee on a hard tile floor that made my muscles stiff. Rob often came to visit, but he was no longer his cheerful self. The scientists had been talking about how he had lost his wife and son in a tragic accident. Some days, Rob didn't even come to work.
After a few days, a new patient came. Nobody had seen her yet. Rumors had started to spread that she was a monster, and she was to dangerous to be near anyone. But there rumors were wrong because one day she came. A scientist put her in the room and closed the door. As usual, the alpha stepped forward. He sniffed the creature who gave him a glare. She stood up sharply, and growled. Everyone gasped. No one growled at the alpha. The alpha stepped forward and growled back. "You want a piece of me?" Alpha growled. "Certainly" the fox lept forward, her claws extended. She hit him full force. Alpha stumbled back. The fox bit into the alpha. He can't go down that easy! I thought, but another alarming thought came to mind. He's a fraud! I looked at his body, and realized he wouldn't go down yet.
Alpha jumped to his feet and lunged. His white teeth bared. The fox wasn't ready and took the full force. I gasped, and watched her taken down. Scarlet red blood pooled around the fox. Then I knew who it was. It was the owner of the smiling face I'd often seen in my dreams. "Mommy?" I crept forward, light on my paws. "Yes. It's me, I'm glad you finally know" she smiled up at me. It was surprising to see how cheerful she was though she was on the brink of death. "Enough!" the alpha butted in. He opened his jaw flashing his sharp teeth. Before anyone could stop him, he bit into the neck of my mother. Alpha clung on until she was dead. "No" I murmured. "No! You monster!" I flung myself at the alpha, taking him by surprise. With my tiny jaws, I clung onto his shoulder. Blood dripped out of the small wounds made by my teeth. Alpha struggled and called for help, but no one responded. Not even his mate responded. They were all still surprised at my actions. Finally, he managed to fling me off. He bared his teeth and stepped toward me. I knew it was my turn to die, but I kept fighting. Skillfully, I dodged and ducked out of the way of Alpha's attacks. My side was covered in scars and dried blood. Breathing heavy, I realized I was cornered. There was no escape from my fate. "Enough!" the alpha's mate, Rose, stepped between us.
"I can't watch you two fight like this!" she went on. Alpha bowed his head shamefully. "Everyone leave! There's nothing to see here!" Rose motioned everyone to leave. I scampered to a corner. How scared I was of what she would do to me! "It's okay young one" Rose stepped toward me. "What's your name?" she asked. Not sure how to respond, I told her "Cassie."
"Cassie? Is that your name?"
I nodded. "Well I'm Rose" she introduced herself. Once again, I nodded. Rose gave me an affectionate lick. "It's nice to meet you Cassie." Then there was a sickening yelp, as Alpha tackled Rose. His jagged teeth dug into her skin. "You will never get in my way again" Alpha growled. Quivering, I moved away, but his eyes burned through my skin. Through his teeth, he growled "And your next." There was no escaping. Alpha's amber eyes could see through me, and see my every move. Frantically, I planned my escape, but I couldn't find a way to escape. Alpha pounced on me, and I stared death straight in the eyes. "Scared?" he taunted. Then, the truth hit me. I had to fight my way out.
My paws worked double time. Dodging attacks, but getting hit at the same time. I was slowing down, but so was Alpha. Soon we were both exhausted, but Alpha gathered up the rest of his strength and slashed my throat. Blood blinded my eyes, and I lay limp on the ground. A new voice filled my ears. "What happened here?" I knew I recognized that voice. Rob? I lifted my head up slowly. Rob! He's here! Lifting my head had drained my energy, and I put it back down. The strong arms belonging to Rob lifted me up. Weak and numb with pain, I passed out. When I had awoken, I could tell some time had passed. It was no longer summer, but winter. I lifted my head, but nausea forced me to put it back down. Looking around, I realized I was back in the alley I called home. Where am I? And how long was I asleep?
