In the beginning, Rah'liani traveled together in mating pairs or very small families. This wasn't always ideal when the Rah'liani came across larger predators and had to fight. Often times one or both of the parents would die, leaving their pups with only one parent or no parents at all. The mortality rate of pups was very low due to predators taking them, the pups eating poisonous plants, or other accidents that resulted in the death of the pups.
One pair of mates, named Jianna and Obold, lost all of their pups to a bear they had not been able to fend off. Distraught after the event, they vowed that something needed to be done to prevent this from happening in the future. After many days of deliberation, they finally came up with an idea - to bring together numerous small family packs to create one, huge pack. They began to spread the word about their idea, telling it to all of the other Rah'liani they met.
Months passed and a large number of families, some with both parents intact and others with single parents caring for their pups, came together to see if Jianna and Obold's idea could actually work. During this time, Jianna and Obold had been fine-tuning their idea and had come up with ideas on how the large pack could work. They came up with the hierarchy, or rank system, and implemented it. It was obvious from the very start that it would work. Thus began the first ever large family pack of Rah'laini, called the Celestial Harmony Pack.
However, despite the peace the Rah'liani found in Celestial Harmony, there were Rah'liani out there who disagreed with this approach. They believed that independence was greater than cooperation and that things didn't need to change because it had been like this since the beginning of time. These Rah'liani, who were later deemed loners by the members of Celestial Harmony, would trespess on the pack's territory to steal prey and put down their own scent marks. Over the years, the loners continued to taunt the pack, trespess on their territory, and fight with them over prey and land.
As generations passed, families joined and left Celestial Harmony as they pleased. Eventually, the current Alphas, named Neesa and Hoi, realized that their gigantic pack was too large for their territory. They knew that just over the mountains in the distance, there were hills and plains where very few Rah'liani lived. After discussing it with the pack, an agreement was made - part of the Celestial Harmony pack would split off and journey to the plains to make a home there. The two packs would then call themselves the Moon Pack and the Sun Pack, since these were Celestial bodies.
Despite the agreement, very few families left the pack to journey to the plains and become the Sun Pack. The Beta male, named Wess, and the Beta female, named Reita, became the Alphas of the Sun Pack. Their old Alphas, Neesa and Hoi, told them that they wanted peace to continue between them and that if the Sun Pack ever needed help from the Moon Pack, they just needed to say the word. Wess and Reita agreed to this offer. They also agreed to meet once a month in the mountains, during the full moon, to exchange news and howl a song together to honor that they were once one pack. The Ally Era, as it would later be called, did not last as long as it could have.
A few years after the split, the Sun Pack began to accept loners into their ranks because their numbers were dwindling too much due to sickness. As more loners were accepted into the Sun Pack, they began to cloud the judgment of the new Alphas, Turne and Firtha. The loners convinced them that independence was more important than cooperation, so that at one of the monthly meetings, Turne announced that the time of alliance was over - the Sun Pack did not need the help of the Moon Pack any longer, and they could take care of themselves from now on. The Alphas of the Moon Pack were upset to hear this, but not as upset when war broke out between the two packs.
Eventually, things settled down once again, but the packs had new names once more. The Moon Pack became the Tranquil Moon Pack, because they had always firmly believed in peace, and the Sun Pack became the Turbulent Sun Pack because they had brought war upon the packs after having lived in peace for so long. The packs agreed to continue their monthly meetings, which they now called The Celestial Harmony Meetings, or The Harmony for short, in honor of their pack from long ago.
Today, the two packs continue to meet once a month, in a truce, to share news and howl at the moon together. They guard their territories jealously, chasing off any loner or enemy pack members. Scouts are the only Rah'liani still allowed to cross the territory borders, and only if they have a message for an Alpha. Occasional battles happen if a patrol of enemy pack members is discovered on the wrong territory, but there hasn't been an actual war for many generations. Things in the Tranquil Moon Pack are as tranquil as ever, while the Turbulent Sun Pack has occasional problems between members descended from full pack members and those descended from loners that joined the pack.
Yet while things seem okay between the packs, things have escalated between the packs and the loners that roam the lands. The loners, who still disagree with the formation of the packs, have begun to notice that the packs have been expanding their territories, little by little. Unbeknownst to the packs, the loners have started to come together to form bands and make plans to take down the packs - once and for all. There are whispers of a prophecy, given to the Healers of both the Moons and Suns, but none of the lower ranked wolves know if these rumors are true or what the prophecy could possibly be about.
What will happen when the packs realize what the loners are planning?
Is there really a prophecy, and if there is . . . what is it about?
Where will your Rah'liani stand in all of this? Will they side with the packs or the loners?
Choose carefully, for your decisions could change everything!
