Fact:Chocoholics love their chocolate but did you know that one chocolate bar can contain up to 80 bug pieces and other debris and still be safe to eat? (Could it be that you are actually addicted to bugs and NOT the chocolate?)

Great.
I'm scared to eat chocolate now D:
...Does that mean chocolate cereal has ants and other bugs floating in it but we don't know? O.o
Actually, add that to there already being bug debris in all cereal due to the wheat and grains and such. e.e

Fact: "Forrest Mars came up with the idea for M & Ms during the Spanish Civil War. He discovered that soldiers were looking for a taste of home, in the form of chocolate, but needed something that could withstand hot temperatures. Mars took their request as a challenge and eventually came up with the candy, which he packaged in heavy tubes. Soldiers today still love M & Ms because they can hold up in just about any climate."

Fact: Guess what red/pink candy is partially made of...?
On Food Detectives they were talking about natural food dyes and the red food dye ingredient is cochineal or carmine. Cochineal is a beetle from Central and South American and they crush the carcasses of the bugs which produces the red color. It's been used for centuries as a dye...

I'd assume that originally the M & M's didn't have food coloring added to them, that was likely added at a later date for aesthetic purposes

As far as the bug chocolate goes....bring it on XD if I can eat food that has my cats hair in it, accidentally, then I can handle bugs. Specially since they taste sodarned delicious XD No wonder some primates and other predators enjoy eating bugs XP if I knew they tasted like chocolate I would eat them too!
-very much jk...well, about the willingly eating them but anyways

Fact: Chocolate is responsible for the microwave.
Scientists were initially experimenting with micro waves in the hopes of creating a better radar detector. In the wake of WWII, scientists continued to test devices called magnetrons. On one such lab, a scientist named Percy Spencer happened to stroll through with a chocolate bar in his pocket.
When he discovered the melted chocolate, Spencer realized that he might be able to use the magnetron to cook food. He tried popping corn (successfully) and then thought he'd give real food a try. His first experiment? An egg, which cooked so quickly it blew up in his face!
