Fact: There were no cats on the Titanic, and cats were a sign of good luck on ships, because they also control rodent problems, but there were dogs and among the survivors were 2 dogs

Not playing, obviously, but just thought I'd add a small interesting fact of my own. My grandmother (father's mother) was born one month after the Titanic sank. It's the main reason I've always remembered the date so well. :P

I read the beginning of that sentence and was like "OMG ROONIE HAD RELLIES ON THE TITANIC" ...then I calmed down and read the rest :P

My family were Whalers before they came to Australia, on my grandmothers side, but I am related, almost directly, to Amy Johnson. She was my Grandfathers Auntie xD

Actually meant two months (June), but yeah. Growing up I always thought it was cool that my grandma was born the same year... even if it was a tragedy. xD

Wow! That's awesome! :o

Fact: In 1898 (14 years prior to the Titanic tragedy), Morgan Robertson wrote a novel called Futility. This fictitious novel was about the largest ship ever built hitting an iceberg in the Atlantic ocean on a cold April night. The fictional ship (named Titan) and the real ship Titanic were similar in design and their circumstances were remarkably alike. Both ships were labeled "unsinkable".

Fact: The Titanic was designed to hold 32 lifeboats, though only 20 were on board; White Star management was concerned that too many boats would sully the aesthetic beauty of the ship.
