Re: Avaydian - Round Open

I've got a decent amount planned and written out in my notebook, so I might as well put it up and work on it electronically from now on.

Username :

Pen Number :

Why I want it :
Plain and simple, she clicked with me. xD I immediately saw a personality for her, and vividly, so I just have to make an attempt for her. <3
Creative Definition of Character :
Name: Lithia
Sex: Female
Age: 17 years
Wingspan: 57'
Length: 187"

Personality Traits:
Socially Awkward - She doesn't quite know what to do with herself while socializing. She often says things that don't really follow the flow of the conversation. Body language is just as difficult for her. Often, she will mimic the body language of the other, trusting that they know better than she how to present oneself in conversation.
Awkward Hunter - She never quite got the hang of the silent stalk or precision pounces that most others her age would have mastered long ago. She often ends up scaring prey away much more often than the average Avaydian. This tends to be a problem for her as she, by far, prefers meat to any veggie option.
Highly Intelligent - Her physical skills may be lacking, but she makes up for it with her mental strength. When she succeeds in feeding herself and frees up time for 'hobbies', she quite enjoys observing life in small-scale. Things like watching minnows in a stream, or ants on an anthill are thoroughly fascinating to her.
Pure Intentioned - Because she's fairly bad at expressing her thoughts effectively, her intentions don't always come across correctly. However, at her core, she would never intend to offend or hurt another.
Easily Frustrated - Especially when hunting, Lithia will often find herself getting flustered and sometimes angry at her failures. She hates being inadequate.

Likes:
Stargazing - Most nights, you'll find her staring into the sky, observing how the stars have moved. She has long since given names to each of the formations and clusters she sees.
Observing Life in Small Scale - Minnows in a stream, ants on an anthill; these things fascinate her. It's amazes her to see how such creatures have found a way to thrive so well in a world of giants.
Springtime - It's not too hot, not too cold, and her tree is just simply gorgeous during this time. Seeing her tree 'reborn' after a rough winter fills her with more happiness than most other things.

Dislikes:
Bright, Hot Sunlight - On bright, hot days, she often stays under the cover of shade or in the cool branches of her tree. She dislikes being in the disorienting, blinding light and struggling to keep cool if she has to venture out from her safe place.
Too Much Cloud Cover - Despite not liking too much of the sun, not enough of it if just as frustrating. Too many clouds means she won't be able to see the sky. While it's not too much of a bother during the day, merely casting a miserable gray, at night, it covers the stars, which makes her feel lonelier than usual.
Being Alone - She hates thinking about being alone, and fears she may never find a mate. She wishes desperately to find someone willing to join her in her tree. Leaving her tree to find a mate herself is not something she considers an option.

Failure

"Dammit!" The curse left her lips in a growl as Lithia watched the fluffy tail of yet another rabbit disappear down the safety of it's burrow. She'd been out hunting all through the morning and evening, braving the hot sun after having failed to catch anything for almost four days now. She despised the taste of only eating greens for so long. If she didn't get meat soon, she wondered how much longer she'd be able to bear the purely veggie diet.
Her stomach growled grudgingly as she sank into the long grass for a rest. Seething with negativity, she considered again how unwise she had been to let her family leave without her. They'd noticed the lack of reliable prey in the area. 'Maybe if it's only you, it will be enough', her mother had told her encouragingly. She was technically right, Lithia saw prey quite often, certainly often enough to sustain her. If only she could catch it. The critters in the area had grown wise to her clumsy hunting. They learned quickly how to evade her feeble attempts to catch them. Lately, her only chance at meat was to be very lucky, or find one young or old enough to have trouble getting away from her in time.
The moon was now rising high in the sky and the stars had begun to twinkle into visibility. Sighing, attempting to rid herself of the lingering disappointment, she lifted herself from the grass and began to trudge back her tree. Halfway there, she stopped to nibble reluctantly on a patch of clover.
Perhaps tomorrow would be kinder.

Dreaming in Memory

"What's that one?"
Two pairs of bright, wide eyes stared into the glittering heavens. Both pairs young and innocent, having known only comfort and happiness in their relatively short lives.
"The group the the four really bright ones? Kind of looks like antlers to me, so I been calling it 'Deer Cluster'"
The slightly bigger pair of eyes squinted momentarily."Oh yeah! I see it, Good one Thia!"
The smaller pair of eyes bounced with laughter. "You have no idea what I'm talking about, do you?"
"Not really, but I like that it makes you happy"
"I guess that makes us even then. I only listen to you talk about hunting because I know that's what you like."
All four eyes glowed in the dark, strengthened by the bond of two siblings, bobbing in the dark night as their owners laughed. Silence fell for a moment as they lay high in the branches of a great Crimson King Maple, staring through it's dark branches.
"I hope I find a mate that doesn't mind me rambling about my hunting technique."
Smaller eyes squinted as an unseen nose scrunched in disgust. "Ew, brother, we're too young for all that mushy stuff!"
"I'm not!" Large eyes narrowed as his brow furrowed. "I'm almost old enough to leave and find a mate and to have a family myself!"
"And leave me . . ."
Large eyes softened again. Small eyes began to water.
"I'll always come back for you Lithia. Even when I go to find my family, I'll come back for you"

The sudden hoot of an owl broke the silence and jerked Lithia from her dream. Looking into the sky, she could see those same stars, the familiar antlers looking down on her.
She pulled herself closer to the trunk of the tree and attempted to block out the emotion she could feel welling up inside her. She'd spent too many nights crying herself to sleep after that night. When an otherwise ordinary day had failed to return her brother from his daily hunt. It had been the first thing in her life that didn't make sense and the first truly bad thing to happen in her quiet little corner of the world. She refused now to let it get the better of her, but it had broken her.

By the Waterfall

'Where is she?' Jalarka was becoming increasingly frustrated and worried. It had been a mistake to allow her to go exploring on her own, but he had been too focused on watching the river pour over the lip of the falls to give it much serious thought. Instead, he had simply told her what she wanted to hear so he could go back to ignoring life as it was and instead lose himself in life as it could have been. Now, after tuning out the world for another night, he'd realized she'd been gone nearly a full day.
'She's still just a chirpling, how could I have been so stupid?' It was times like this that made the ebony male realize just how inept he was at being a caretaker. Venturing now away from the falls, the noise of them died away, replaced by the soft whisper of the wind in tall grass. Of all places she was likely to go, the fields where his best bet. He never took her hunting out this way, precisely because it meant he could not hear the falls and she was constantly nagging him to take her there.
Far in the distance, among the patches of trees, just as the last hints of rushing from the falls died away, one tree suddenly, clearly stood out. One huge, crimson-leaved tree. But closer to him, heading straight for him, was something he hadn't expected. The last thing he'd thought he see here and on this day.

Lithia groaned and dropped sleepily from a low branch. Hunger had woken the tawny female. She was hoping it would have left her alone at least through the uncomfortably warm morning, but no such luck.
The rumbling in her nearly-empty stomach was almost painful today, insisting on drastic measures. Today, she would have to try someplace new. Until now, she had stayed away from the open lands away from the trees, over by where her mother had once told her the plain dropped away, straight down, taking the river with it in a great waterfall. Having little interest in water, she had never been keen on venturing over to see if it had been true. Having decided to head that way now, she began to picture it and thought, maybe today wouldn't be so bad after all.
As she set herself towards the unknown, she looked back often. It had been so long since she'd dared wander far enough that her tree was no longer visible and now her anxiety mounted as it sank away into the clusters of trees. Just as it was fading from sight, she turned back to find she was face-to-face with something that made her heart leap in surprise.

The Others

The two Avaydia stared at each other. Each as perplexed as the other. Neither had known they where living so close to another. They seemed odd out there together; one as black as night, glowing with delicate electric blue, the other soft and light like a warm breeze. It took several moments before either dared to speak.
"I'm looking for a young chirpling." Jalarka stated firmly. Better to assert himself right off the bat, just in case she was aggressive.
Lithia continued to stare, though now she was feeling slightly panicked on top of the confusion. How was she supposed to respond? "I'm . . er, I'm looking for food." She said finally, deciding to look away from him and stare into the grass. She had a feeling this isn't quite the response he was looking for.
Jalarka's brow furrowed. Obviously, he'd have to be a little more direct. Though, it seemed she wasn't planning to fight him off, so he softened his voice. "What I mean is, have you seen a chirpling around? She's almost fully white, with red wings and odd feathers alongside her tail." He paused slightly. "I don't know if there's any food around. We don't normally hunt here."
'Of course, stupid, he wanted to know if I could help him.' She mentally reprimanded herself. Thinking for a moment to be sure her next response would be more helpful, she continued to stare into the grass. "Ah. . . No, I haven't seen her."

Our Together Forever

Other :
Frustrated Hunter

I'm likely going to have to run off for dinner before I can finish. But basically, they aren't meant to be mates. Neither is willing to leave their established homes, even if they are so close. Instead, they become close friends, meeting at the mid-line just about every day to socialize, but their personalities don't quite match enough to be as close as mates.

Does the round have to be officially closed, or did it automatically close at 7?
Basically, would I be safe to edit a little more, or should I leave it as-is? xD

You had a full week to work on your form. An extension would be unfair to anyone who actually finished their form thinking they had only until the established date.

It ends at seven regardless of what time I officially close it. c:

And no, you may not have an extension for the reason Tamma has said. You had an entire week. Use your time better.

Round closed over an hour ago, judging will now commence.
