They're Irish: All polar bears alive today have something in common with President Obama: Irish ancestry. Each polar bear claims a common ancestor, a mama bear who lived in Ireland some 20,000 to 50,000 year ago. By extracting the DNA from ancient bear bones, researchers were able to find that one female was the source of all modern polar bears' genetic material.
The bunnies are multiplying!

Wow, that is really interesting... Wonder if that's when polar bears started out as a separate species from other bears, or there was some kind of natural disaster or something that caused only a few to survive, thus leading to that one female becoming the mother of all of today's population...
