Story:
~| A boring Easter |~
-Vanadis's Narration
When the human caught the Easter Bunny, I was handed over to her.
She was nice, with brown hair, and warm brown eyes; perhaps, for the rest of Easter, we'd have a lot of fun.
How wrong I was.
She said she was busy, and tried to. . .neglect me. It wasn't easy for her, but she did, and that hurt me. A lot.
I stared at her. She was STUDYING for a 'test', she says. HA. A test.
What use is a test? it's boring, trash. . .
I can't believe she chose a test over easter.
"It IS important,"My friend, Zeoyan insisted, her eyes blazing; she couldn't believe my 'stupidity'. What a smug little rabbit she was--she was younger than me, but so terribly snobby and thought she was wise. Ha. Wise? She equaled the opposite of the word itself.
"Can't you see it means a lot to Ashen? Understand her!"
"Be quiet!"
I yelled. "I'm trying to, can't you see. . ? But still, how could she, how COULD she. . ."
I glared at Zeoyan, taking out my anger at her. She had done nothing wrong--what she had said was the truth, and I knew it. However, emotionally I was in pain. As soon as she had gotten me, and as soon as my heart had filled with so much hope and excitement, Ashen had turned her back against me.
"Well, YOU won't know,"
I say bitterly.
"Because you're so young and naive. But I understand the pain of neglect."I shunned her protests, and sulked in the corner, the dark, DARK corner, to be left alone and think about Ashen's 'betrayal'.
How could she?
Just then, Ashenjoy entered.
"Vanadis," I ignore her.
"Vanadis, please."
I feel the human's hands gently stroke my metallic head, and well. . .I can't run away. I like her touch; so soothing and warm compared to my metallic body. I turn to look at her, my eyes wide in pain.
"I understand how terrible it is for you. But I have to do this. Patience is a virtue, Vanadis, as much as I hate it also. Remember the date: April 24th; my well, ruined birthday. Ironic, isn't it, the school test day is my birthday. Until then, Vanadis, I must concentrate on my studies. Please, understand me.
"Just imagine what we may do afterwards. We can draw pictures, sing, play Easter games by ourselves, make posters. . .so much fun we can have!"Ashen smiles at me encouragingly.
"I beseech you: please remain patient until 24th, don't give up your hope. I WILL return--it may seem like eternity, but it isn't."
Then she holds me up and looks straight into my eyes; hers are determined and dark, yet warm, brown.
I nod. Not reluctant anymore. I understand. Zeo may not, but I do.
"I understand," I whisper. "I will be waiting for you."
No longer my Easter is ruined; now, it's just a matter of patience and hope for the day the test is over. After that, we may have REAL Easter.
After all, Easter isn't about selfishness, it's about having fun. Together. And dates don't matter much, what matters is the spirit of Easter itself. I smile, and for once, I am at peace.
Just then, Zeo returns, perking up her cyan blue ears.
"What's going on?"
"Be patient, Zeo. Be patient."
"Wha. . ?"
"Our Easter isn't the 15th--our easter is from 24th."
I say mysteriosuly with a smile passing my lips. I twitch my ears in excitement of what will happen once the test is over. . .
I understand you, Ashenjoy. And I forgive you; as long as you compensate with our own special easter!
<Now from my view>
I smiled softly. I was sorry for making my poor bunnies give up their preciosu hope to havea delightful Easter. I can't ruin my test though, can I, it's a huge mid term. I nodded in gratitude to my dear, dear bunnies. HOW kind, how thoughtful of them to give up their wishes. I wish I could play with them AND study, but it's a lot risky and will not help with my little hiatus.
I now look down at Dark Iridescence. I've kept her away from Zeo and Vannie, because. . .as her name suggested, she was dark. She was beautiful and iridescent, but her personality was so. . ominous, so proud, so confident. . .
"Irdiescence, please understand me." I told her in a whispering voice. "Please."
"It's all right, Ashen."
Iridescence replies quietly. I look downa t her in surprise, and my heart feels torn as I see a glint of a tear in her usually snappy and bleak eyes.
"I know. I understand you."
Did she? I hope so. Now feeling relieved, I start to study with no more heartbreaking thoughts of my bunnies. Iri will get along with Vanadis and Zeoyan, I'm sure. The spirit of Easter helped me, after all.
Thank you. Thank you. Bunnies are wise and so thoughtful. . .I WILL compensate for their poor, boring Easter, I will. Just wait till my birthday, and then you will have the fun of your lifetime. . .
