{Joins into the questioning}
Nini wants to know about mating rituals! Like. o__o Not how they mate, but if they have rituals to go about it.
Such as how peacocks do their funky dance, some birds sing specifically, lions play hard to get, etc.
How would a Smili be?

No figthing about anime in my thread please.
I haven't put very much thought into that yet Nini, Hm. Both males and females participate very active in the chose of a potential partner. Their mating season is in the fall and the young are born during late winter/early spring.
How they show their intrest in another smili depends on what intentions it has with the relationship. Some smili are inclined for long term relationships, like mates, while some get together for breeding and split the pups when they are old enough.
Mates (don't really want to call it that, but I lack a better word. Sometimes I'll call them partners), have some kind of "loving" relationship that may grow with time. One smili may pick intrest of another and try to get it's attention. The regular affectionate way. Leave dead prey close to their intrests favourite sleeping place, for example.
If it's a short term, practical relationship they tend to try to pick a good looking partner. Brightly coloured pattens or a large tail. Maybe a pudgy belly, since that is likely a smili that can provide for the young.
The actual mating season and it's customs I have not figured it out just yet. I thought about having them change colours to something really bright if they are intrested that particular year. Maybe not. But it would be cool. I think roaring and fighing over mates is a little beneigh them, they are more calm and civilized. They could do singing, but I bet it'd look and sound funny.
I think I have to return when I've thought about it.

Maybe a custom could be...its females who argue overprospective mates instead of males? Cause that is an idea that I have rarely seen used.
Having serious issues viewing dark colours at the moment. May delay replys to pms. Sorry.
The Leopard Pups
Grey, Black and White. The world revolves and we go with it. Twisting in this everlasting monotony, eyes of green and gold, watching and waiting for our chance, our time. Cytor, Liliana, Serenade, Bayonet, the Prankster, the sweet one, the mother and the lost soul. There birth was a lost event, one in a million, two wandering souls met in the shadows, and these four were created. There pups are the stuff of legend, one lost there sight, one lost there path, one lost there love and the other? The other lost his family, everyone they cared about. He lost his family.

I got nother idea.
Well a couple
There face markings could glow.
There tail end could change colour? If you like the colour change idea.
I reckon them singing would actualy be good, but not like proper singing more like Orca call singing.

I've hardly ever seen a turky, just a few times.
I got the idea of a colour change form a book named Oryx and Crake. If you haven't read it and got a moment to spare I recomend it. It's really neat. Maybe only a part of them, like the nack and face would change colour? It's hard to shange the colour of fur though, skin is probably easier... Only the nose?

If I let smili be able to chirp like cheetahs, I bet they could do some bird like singing noises. It would be hilarious. And deadly cute. Or they could more make a low murrmurr of soft growls.
