My Impressions this month:

Image
Honestly I was not expecting to like these dogs much. Unlike every one else I was not bursting at the seems to see what they were just because they said 'ode to the arts'. I don't tend to like the over hyped dogs. Even after not expecting much - I was still very disappointed ... Again unlike most people I was not expecting line edits, and OMG amazing .. I was expecting something more ... art-ish I guess. I don't mind the tail stripes .. but the chest stripes are extremely off putting, especially in comparison to the plain nose marking.

Image
Again - appart from the dogs posted above this litter was Extremely disappointing. It was the litter I had the highest hopes for under the blanket, and when the first pup grew and looked salmon-y It made me happy. The adult stages (again apart from the one above) Are just meh' And seem like they could have been a cool idea but were just poorly executed. Which makes me sad.

Image
So by default this was my favorite dog litter of the month ... which isn't saying much. The colours are eye blinding- but the designs look well placed rather than just slapped on as many 'sparkle dogs.' Not my favorite dogs ever, but not my least favorites either.

Image
These make for a pretty solid 3rd gen. Not my favorite, but neither of the parents were either ...

Image
Apart from this cat .. I don't really love the colours chosen for the designs. Which is sad because I actually really like the designs. I tend to like yellow, but not with the colours chosen to accompany them. There is still something charming about them though, so I don't dislike them.

Image
This is my favorite litter of the entire month. I had been wanting a pintaloosa since joining CS, and was not disappointed.

Image
This was an odd litter for me. I adore this out come the pink zebra design is adorable, and charming. On the flip side I flat out don't like the other two out comes. The odd stripes hurt my eyes, and again the colours do not mesh well. .. Plus stripes re extremely over used, and I am getting tired of them.

Image
It was nice to see a more subdued design on the owls again. + I do like ducks quite a bit, mandarins being my favorite so it was good the see the design used.

ImageImage
Both rat litters were well done this month. The colours work well together, and the designs are nice ... I am just not 'inspired' by either of them. All the rats are starting to look the same lately. I can't put a finger on why. Maybe it is because the template is small and harder to work with , but I am still waiting to see a rat litter that I really love.

Image
These were a nice surprise. Everything about them is thought out and well done. It would have been fun to see antennae but they are fine with out them c:

Image
These are beautiful. The subtle colours and simple designs are refreshing.

Image
It's nice to see pastel spiders. They look innocent and sweet .. for being spiders xD

After looking at one for awhile (and getting 4 from my original adopts), I decided these horses:
Image
Pet's name: Antares
reminded me of looking up at a dark, starry, cloud-covered sky.
The effect is greater looking at several of them together, so
had to do a mini-hoard, all named after bright stars.
Officially my favorite pet of the month!

This is going to be long, so I'm sorry guys. xD

ImageImageImageImageImage
I personally don't see what a lot of people have against these dogs. Just because they're an ode to the arts doesn't mean that they have to be all "artsy" or filled with lineart edits or whatever. When I first saw them, I knew right away that the word "arts" meant more than the visual arts. The word arts is a very broad word and encompasses a very large amount of things. I didn't know exactly what arts to expect but I did know that there wouldn't be enough room in one litter to include every single arts out there. And honestly, if the design of the dogs had been "artsy", I would've been extremely disappointed in the litter because of the fact that it's supposed to be an ode to -all- of the arts, not just the visual arts like drawing, painting, digital, etc. I love how the litter has a common base design that can tie them together as a litter but each dog takes that base design and makes it very unique for the art it's supposed to represent. The fact that the colors are similar, but not the same, does the same thing, it ties them together as a litter but still makes each dog pleasingly unique. While I agree that I would like them better without the chest stripes, that's only because I feel like they don't fit in with the rest of the design, not because they're off-putting or ugly or anything. It's part of the base design that the artist came up with and, with each growth, I've grown rather fond of the design as a whole.

ImageImageImageImage
Unlike most people, my favorite of this litter is actually the most common, the two-tailed, which is closely followed by the blue outcome. I love the whole litter in general, those are just my two favorites. While the design of the litter does remind me of salmon and other fish, I love how they don't look -exactly- like the fish and have their own, original designs. I don't even think it was said that it was based off of fish by the artist, so I don't really see what the disappointment is there. The dog with the necklace would be my favorite of the litter but there's one spot on it that bugs me and that happens to bump it down. It's not a huge deal but it's the little brown spot on it's snout...it looks kind of like a mole to me and I've never found facial moles to be attractive. xD

ImageImageImage
While this is my least favorite dog litter of the month, that's only because of the eye-blinding colors used on some of them. They're definitely better in the final stage than they were in the pup stage, though. xD And, even though it's my least favorite dog litter this month, it -does- contain my absolute favorite dog of the month. I know, that sounds weird, but it's true. xD My favorite dog is the orange one, which is also weird because yellow, orange, and pink are my least favorite colors. It's how they're used on the dog, though. As I've said before, it reminds me of both tye-dye and sunsets, which I both absolutely love. :3

ImageImageImageImage
I don't really have much to say about this litter. While I do like the outcomes, I'm kind of disappointed with the litter in general. It's not because of how they were done or anything. It's more of the fact that I'm kind of tired of seeing the gear and swirl 2nd gens being used as parents for 3rd gens. It makes the site's variety a lot lower than I would like when it comes to 2nd gens and 3rd gens. These dogs were done wonderfully, it's just that the gear dogs and swirl dogs have alot more "family" on this site than any other litters and I would like to see some other litters used for 2nd and 3rd gens.

ImageImageImageImage
I love the fact that we finally have butterfly wolves that are actually based off of butterflies. x3 I hope we get some more in the future. ^-^ Or maybe moths. =o

ImageImage
While I like the colors used on these ones, I'm not a huge fan of the dragonfly wings on butterfly wolves. However, I'm not a huge fan of the butterfly wings either. xD All of my favorite butterfly wolves have lineart edited wings that have nothing to do with insects. <.<

ImageImageImageImage
I've never been a huge fan of the adult cat lineart. There's only been a few of them that have made it among my favorites of a month. These don't sit there for me but I do like the design idea and I think I would've loved them if the adult cat lineart was pleasing to me.

ImageImageImageImage
Natural horses are among my favorite horses on CS and these definitely make the top of those. I love appaloosas and all the different kinds of them are among my favorite real horses. I'm not a huge fan of paints myself but I love seeing different types of natural colored horses on CS. I grew up with appaloosa horses, so that's probably why I love them so much. xD

ImageImageImage
I actually love the green and purple outcomes of this litter. I can't stand the pink one, though. It doesn't fit in with the other two at all and seems like it was just randomly made. Granted, I don't like pink, especially bright pink, but I still think I would've liked it better if the design of it fit in with the rest of the litter. The green and purple ones make me think of light reflecting off of gemstones and I love it. :3

ImageImageImage
I'm not a fan of orange, so this is definitely not my favorite rat litter, but I do enjoy how the whole litter makes me think of solar flares. :3

ImageImageImage
I love this rat litter but that probably has to do with the fact that I love the ocean and I love the color blue. xD

ImageImageImage
I like the darker spiders that CS usually has better than these, especially the more natural ones. I also don't tend to like pastel colors, so that's definitely part of it.

ImageImageImageImageImage
As always, I absolutely adore the owls. Cellar and I always do, which is why we both agreed to have a joint hoard of all owls. :3 The only thing that bothers me about this litter is the legs on the mallard owl. I don't like how the orange of the legs goes all the way up the legs, even on the feathers. The other outcomes seem to have the leg color stopping at about the feathery area and that makes sense to me. I just don't like how the orange of the legs covers the leg feathers. The PPS is to die for, though...it's adorable and I'm glad we have another one. o3o

Not going to quote ElijahWilkes's post as a whole but I agree with a lot of what s/he said. I will differ on a few things.

Image
I love this litter and this is easily my favorite litter this month. I'm going to disagree with the majority and say that I like the chest stripes. They're not too distracting, especially on the Dance and Theatre dogs. I'm not quite sure what the wolf design is for though. Song? But don't we already have a music dog? Either way, the designs are lovely, flowy, and work nicely.

Image
I'm a shameless fangirl for Selcouth's designs, but I just can't make myself like this litter too much. I like the above outcome, but this one, while I love the eyes, the design is like crank-it-up-to-11 levels of loud. I feel like it relies more on the colors being jarring and bright than making the colors and design work together. There's just way too much clash for me to like them. It's my least favorite litter overall this month next to...

Image
This one. There's absolutely no fault in how they're colored, it's superb and very true to the real horse pattern. I do like how well they're colored; but the real horse pattern is the problem. There are so many natural horses on CS already that I'm kind of bored of them. Two of the three horse litters so far this year have been natural. I loved the stone dapple horses last month, and I really wish we got more unnatural horses with designs not based in anything.

Really? I like the chest stripes, actually, it's the stripe down the nose I think they could do without. Otherwise, I agree with you, they are absolutely beautiful - so much so I hoard them.

I thought this myself, but I didn't really want to bring it up as I've not been around here for too long and I was scared it was maybe just my short experience of 2nd/3rd Gens. Although I think this litter is okay (and I adore the purple/grey/white one - hoarding that also haha) but this clockwork theme is becoming very repetitive, I'd really like to see some more glitter and glow in these Gens to shake off their bad reputation - are they just not dogs with an extra tag, after all?

For some odd reason, I don't like this dog as much as the first outcome. It's strange.

Maybe it's the exact shade of blue. I just think the first outcome is prettier :c

I was a tiny bit disappointed with the colors on the ode pups. I wish they had a more broad palette of colors like purple or even white. I like the designs on them though. Although the drama pup's masks look a little odd to me.

although...

they make a nice contrast with Selcouth's bright litter.

I think they wouldn't be very unique if they were omg bright.
