Rachael yawned and padded out of the den herself and Shadow were staying in. She smiled as birds chirruped in trees. It had been a month since Rachael had escaped from under her dad's watchful eye. She took a deep breath, smelling all that was around her, pine, birds, rabbits, a faint trace of Shadow and a dead elk. She licked her lips hungrily. She had gotten too slow to catch anything, she wondered why. She waddled over to the elk taking a chunk out of it. She sighed happily. Then a foul taste entered her mouth. She spat the piece of elk out "Bleh!" she groaned. That was horrible! she complained inwardly. She shuddered painfully and fell to the ground. "Shadow where are you!" she whimpered in pain. Shadow grinned and picked up the dead rabbit. Rachael is going to thank me big time for this kill! It's huge! he thought happily as he padded slowly on the soft, green grass. Then he froze as he saw Rachael. Shadow's jaw dropped and the rabbit fell onto the ground with a thud. He lay beside Rachael in a pool of blood. "Rach... don't leave me...."
