~A Dragons Story ~
"Okay, I am going to tell you a story, a story about how I became a pet, how I was adopted. I will start from the beginning, before I was born. It all started in the jungle..."
Once, in a jungle off the coast of North America, there lived many different creatures, most that many people just think are myths. Dragon. Unicorn. Griffin. There lived a dragon, a black dragon with a fluffy tail and antennas. He had a mate, the most beautiful dragon in the jungle. She was a white dragon, much like himself. He loved her, and soon, he knew, they would become parents. She had started showing many months before. He was ready, wishing they would come sooner. He wanted to speed time up, unaware of what would happen once they were born.
The night arrived. Baby dragons were born, all different colors. Gray, white, black, and then one very peculiar one, a male with a bright blue coat. They were all had green eyes, all except that one blue dragon, he had glittering blue eyes.
A week after they were born, all was going well. They didn't expect anything to happen, but something did. They were all lounging, after a long days work. The young dragons couldn't walk yet, but they had grown a small amount bigger. They were all asleep, all except the father, awake and on the watch. He was dozing off, when suddenly he heard a loud boom. He shot straight up, growling. Well maybe it is just the griffin again. He thought, not convincing himself. Farther into the forest, he saw a glowing light, and a noise he had never heard before. Talking. Whatever was out there, they were coming closer. Another loud boom rang through the air. Crack! A huge group of men showed through the clearing. Smugglers.
Suddenly, everything broke into chaos. The men started yelling and waving their arms. They caught the trees on fire with the torches they were holding. The father awoke the mother, who grabbed as many of her children as she could. She was able to grab all of them, but one, the blue boy with glittering eyes, slipped out of her jaws and hit the ground with a thump. Not noticing, she ran off. The men threw nets over the dragons, tripping the mother, the dragon babies flying in all directions, all hitting the net. The men carried the thrashing mother and babies and threw them in the crate that was in the wagon they had brought with them. In that truck, there were many unicorns, griffins, even a Pegasus or two, who could usually fly out or reach. And now they had the dragons too.
The father ran off into the darkness, hiding with other black things, not for long though. He could see the men coming closer, and they shined the torch right in front of him, burning his nose. Without warning, the men pounced on him, holding him down. "We don't need this one. The young dragons will grow up." The leader said. He reached for his belt, where a sword was held. The male dragon howled with hopelessness, knowing this is the end.
The blue dragon baby heard his father, and tried to answer, but was to weak, just being a week old. He whimpered, wanting his mother. He sadly watched his father, knowing it will be the last time he will ever see any of his family. The men had disappeared, and he was alone.
He laid there, day after day, for half a week. He couldn't move, he was too tired and dehydrated. He would have died, but he was found. Found by a young girl, who had stumbled upon him by accident.
She lived in California. Her name was Abby. She enjoyed hanging out with the unicorns. No one believed her when she told though. She even had her own unicorn, who she had named Jewl. Today, she had gone for a ride on Jewl. She was mad at her parents that day, and ventured farther than she had ever before. As she held onto Jewl's horn, something caught her eye. She looked around. Everything was burned. Instead of that pretty, glittery, majestic forest, there was burned trees. She could make out where there had once been a nest, a nest of something she couldn't identify. She saw something else too. Something blue. She jumped off of Jewl and walked over to it. "Oh my gosh!" She exclaimed. She picked up the dragon in her arms. It was barely breathing. She bit her lip and jumped onto Jewl. "Jewl. Home." She commanded, cuddling the soft dragon close.
When they got to where Jewl and Abby always parted, Abby jumped off. She dashed toward home, fast as she could. She was afraid it might be to late. "Dad! Help!" She cried as she dashed into the house.
"So. This is my story. Abby and her father saved my life. Now they feed me, brush me, and give me baths. They introduced me to many different creatures. They named me Amir, which Jewl told me meant prince. Also, Abby's father finally believed her about the unicorns, and now they know she isn't crazy. They adopted Jewl, who is now living in the stables behind the house, going for rides every afternoon. My wings finally sprouted, and now I can fly along with them. I sometimes wonder what happened to the rest of my family, but no one has reported anything. But now I am happy, living with Abby, and my mate, Amanda. She is also a dragon, found in the forest too. Abandoned by her rabid parents. She is ruby red. Abby saved her. Now we have children, one purple, one blue, and one red. They make the world spin around, along with Abby and Amanda. I love them with all my heart, and forever will.
