Cat's Number: 2
Cat's Name: Misfit
Cat's Gender (Please put the same gender it has from the pound): Male
Story: Misfit was a sad little kitten, despite the smile on his face. He was born with a disorder, that made him constantly smile. He had a bit of ADHD, OCD, and depression. Worried for his safety, his mother never let him do normal things such as play with other kittens.
Lonely and sad, the kitten grew up. His ADHD and OCD are now under control, but he is depressed very much. And of course, his smile will be there forever.
"Mother I want to go to the park." Misfit meowed.
"I don't think so. Not today, maybe later, when you are better." His mother replied, sweeping her tail around him.
Misfit was old enough and smart enough to know that he would never be better. His mother said that just to make him feel better. It did the opposite.
He sadly turned back to his books. Misfit loved to read, especially science. As much as it pained him, he loved to learn more about his disorder, and those like it. Misfit nor his mother realized it, but he was a genius. He could read and comprehend things that cats years older than him could not.
A while later, Misfit had a doctor appointment to check up on how he was going. The check up went fine, the doctor said that he was healthy.
"Misfit, could you go in the waiting room for a moment? I want to have a word with your mother." The doctor said politely.
Misfit nodded and walked back to the waiting room.
"Look at how his tail droops," the doctor said once Misfit was gone. "I think he is perfectly healthy, but you need to do something about his depression. Cheer him up. Have you considered school? Or even day care, or a club of some sort? He needs to interact with cats his age."
"Oh..no. I can't do that to him.." Misfits mother's eyes were huge and worried.
Misfit glanced across the room. What were they talking about? His mother was worried. Was the doctor lying? Was he really getting worse?
"Woo hoo! Yay!"
Misfit glanced to where the noise was coming from. There was a little cat, about his age, playing in the corner with the toys. Courageously, Misfit decided that no matter what his mother said, he would make friends. He would play. He would have fun.
"May I play?" He asked, a bit nervous.
"Sure," said the grey cat, moving to make room for Misfit.
Misfit couldn't help but gasp. The kitten was clearly blind, had part of an ear torn off, and a missing leg.The cat flicked his good ear as though he heard, and Misfit blushed.
"I'm Mitten," said the cat.
"I'm Misfit."
"Cool. You want to play with this ball? We can roll it around."
They began to play laughing and smiling. For once, Misfits smile was a true smile. Then the ball rolled too far. "I'll get it!" said Misfit. But Mitten had already gotten up and was after it. Panting he brought it back. Misfit was awed. "How can you do that? You have a missing leg and you are blind!" Realizing what he said, he blushed and apologized.
"It's okay. And just because I'm not normal, doesn't mean I can't try."

Misfit's mother had seen the whole thing. She saw how happy Misfit was, and decided to make a change.
From then on, Misfit was a member of many clubs, went to the park to play with his new friends, and did normal things. He was very happy and healthy.
