I know and trust most of the newbie helpers, because I've actually seen them in action (If I could say that) though alot of people who applied started stalking the introductions thread straight after their application.. :S But anyway, they're all great members, especially Atwood, Toady, BlackVulpix and Huskylover :3 only one of the helpers I've never heard of...

Yeah stalking the intro thread straight after applying isnt a good thing, but it does help with your application, and if you intentions are honest and true, then it shouldn't be a problem . . . Who have you never heard of?
P.S. i started saying hi in the intro forum before i applied ;)

Honestly, I never really gave the Introductions board a thought until I saw what Tess said about some people not getting even one reply. I'd always just assumed that, with such a big community, all newbies got big warm welcomes. That's why, from now on, I'm going to be active in that board. I know I'm probably one of those people who you guys say went to "stalk" the introductions, so I just want to say that I didn't do that to help my chances; I figure that, if anything, posting a bunch in that board all of a sudden made me less likely to get the job. I started posting there anyways, though, and I'm going to continue to do so. I don't need the possibility of being chosen for a job to keep me motivated to be helpful. :3

As for our newly-elected Newbie Helpers, I'm quite pleased with who was chosen, especially a few in particular. C:

I was surprised you didn't get the job you know :3 I've seen you many times around the CS thread being helpful, and it's a good thing you'll keep helping. A lot of those who applied and didn't get accepted were bitter/disappointed, I doubt they were doing it to help; just an opportunity to get some kind of "official" status X3

Chryseis: I think the person I'd never heard of joined Nov. 09 and their name had dragonfly in it of something.

How Avatar has the simplest and most predictable plot ever but everyone is saying it's great just because of special effects. "I see you." - The script is awful! I can't imagine what my AP Language teacher would say if I turned in a story like that. "Okay, you can see them, but what do you think about them?" There's a reason people say "love" - because you're telling that person you can see who they really are, AND you're telling them that you love it.

Christopher Nolan over James Cameron anytime. <3 He doesn't rely on special effects to make a great movie.

Avatar was pretty. That's the extent of its goodness.

The rest of it was so flat I could've used it to grout tile.

The story of Avatar was pretty predictable, but I still liked it. x3 As for the "I see you," thing, there is a part where Jake is learning the language, and he's being explained to that the words mean more "I see into you" than just "I see you" So, that's sort of the theme, they see each other as they are. *shrug* I liked it.

Not sure why your ranting about their language. Different cultures have different ways of communication. They even explained that in the movie. "It's more than I'm seeing you visually, it's I'm seeing into you." They're looking deeper than what's on the outside. And yes, it is a positive thing to say to another, so obviously they must think that that person is good. If your feathers are ruffled because they chose to say something like that rather than 'OMG I LURVE YOU LOLOLOL', remember what good old Shakespeare said: "A rose by any other name smells just as sweet."

Yes, the plot is old, so is every other plot out there. I didn't see anyone whining about that with the Disney version of Hamlet, The Lion King. Maybe that was before your time, but it was extremely popular when it first came out even though the plot was ripped off--and I still enjoy watching it now and then. Since when are people not allowed to enjoy a movie just because the plot is a little old?

I'd rather have a reused plot than another book-movie, anyway.

I know that. It doesn't matter if you see into them; it matters what you think about what you see. You can say "I see you" (when the guy was explaining it, I don't remember him saying it couldn't be a bad thing) and not like the person at all.

I mentioned an AP class and you're worried TLK might have been before my time? XD And SO MANY people complain about the The Lion King, regardless of its popularity. And not because of the Hamlet thing, but because of Kimba the White Lion.

I didn't say people weren't allowed to enjoy it, either. But seriously, I believe that if anyone without the name Cameron turned in a script like Avatar's, it would have been thrown in the trash.

In the end, Cameron is laughing his way to the bank on umpteen billions of dollars, so I imagine he can do whatever he likes. ;)

IMO, if you like it, then it's good. If you don't, then that's fine too. I respect your opinion even if I disagree with it.. which I do in this case. *laughs* But different things appeal to different people, and what I enjoyed about the movie might not have even registered to a different person who was more focused on a different aspect. That's what makes all the variety of entertainment out there so great. There's something for everyone's taste.

But that's enough of my chill factor.

You know what annoys me? When I am scrubbing the kitchen floor by hand, and I have two bad shoulders (Rotator cuff), and I stop after an hour cause I can't move, and sit down for a while to take my pain pills, and my husband comes into the room two minutes after I put my butt in a chair and goes "Hey, would you mind making some lunch?"

Yes. I would mind. ;)

This is true. He's made Titanic, the Terminator movies, Aliens...there's no doubt that Cameron = money.

But another thing on movies, is that I heard they're making a fourth Shrek and Megan Fox is going to be in it >.<
