- Why do I want this handsome boy? Why wouldn't I? I absolutely love the basic look; nothing unusual about him. I think that's why my eye was drawn to him. I'm so used to finding unnatural designs at all the centers I watch; his natural coat jumped out at me. I was originally just going to find Pandora...but I couldn't help but stop at him. His voice came to me next, gruff, yet kind. You could hear wisdom in his words. Think Doc Hudson from Cars; that's the type of voice I heard. I could see him, talking to Pandora, advising her. Saving her. I knew I had to try.
Like all my characters, he would get a home on my WIP character site, Aani Tiikeri. When I have the chance, I would happily shower him with art, and, of course, he will have a place in my working novel, Eye of the Storm.

- Gruff and no nonsense, Buck doesn't take crap from anyone. But don't confuse that with a bad temper or narrow-mindedness; Buck is the complete opposite. He's quite accepting of everyone, and can tell when someone has a good heart; he has the patience to help them see who they really are to go along with it. He's quite stubborn, however, and is very hard to sway once he believes something as true, though most attribute that to his old age, joking that he had "Old Man Syndrome". On the contrary, Buck has always shown this stubborn nature, even when he was a pup, fighting for his mother's milk. The only thing greater than his stubbornness, is his kindness. He's always willing to help a creature in need, no matter if he knows them or not, especially if it's mental or emotional help they need. He knows when to stop, however, and he knows when force, rather than kindness, is needed. He's down-to earth, logical, and wise, though he may show it in rather rough ways, he means well.

- -Civil Conversation
Yelling is not necessary, in Buck's eyes, unless you're trying to get someone's attention from far away. Insults and low-blows are in the same boat. He loves having civil conversations and civil debates with others, full of logical arguments, and very little to no insults or angry yelling. People who hold a conversation like that gain no respect from this canine.
-Mentoring
He loves helping others out, especially when that "other" is young. He feels like his advice and wisdom are better accepted when the target is younger, instead of an adult. Adults tend to ignore his words, young ones tend to listen better, thanks to being unbiased and curious.
-Practical Jokes
Though he is down-to-earth, that doesn't mean he doesn't enjoy a good joke. A practical joker in his own right, he highly appreciates a well done, well thought out prank, done out of pure humor, and not out of some malicious need. The prank doesn't have to be successful to be funny, to him, one just needs to try. He always welcomes being the target of pranks, as long as they aren't spiteful.

- -Things That Can't Be Logically Explained
Buck is extremely logical, as such, anything that can't be perceived as logical, or can't be explained by logic, doesn't exist to him. Unless he can see it, touch it, talk to it, what have you, it doesn't exist. He doesn't believe in ghost stories or fairy tales, because, to him, there is no proof of the beasts and magic that exist in those stories.
-Pity
Pity is a thing that grates on Buck's nerves. He doesn't want pity, nor does he give pity. He also does not respect those who would rather pity themselves than help themselves out of the situation. He's made it his personal goal to remove pity from any beast he mentors and helps, showing them that pity doesn't solve anything.
-His Limp
Though you wouldn't know it, Buck has a limp, an injury sustained as a young dog on a farm, having been kicked by an ill-tempered stallion. He never makes a fuss about his slight disability, and would rather ignore that it existed in front of others. However, others never seem to get that memo, and every new creature he meets that asks about the limp automatically goes down in Buck's disapproval book.

Ever since his painful encounter with the agressive horse that caused his leg injury, he has always been weary around equines, making sure to stay far away from their powerful hind legs, lest he receive another brutal kick.

- I think it would be easier to ask why wouldn't I like this character. She's gorgeous. Like I said with Buck, you don't see a whole lot of natural patterns anymore, and, since she was just black and white, it made her even more eye catching to me. I've always loved Great Danes, which probably goes back to my childhood obsession with Scooby-Doo; their sheer size and gentle giant mentality make them one of my favorite breeds of dog. I could see her fitting in quite easily in my story, possibly even finding a mate with my other "gentle giant", Bear the Rottweiler.

- Outspoken and confident, two words that quite accurately describe Pandora. She's not afraid to speak her mind, nor is she afraid to show you how amazing she is. She's not narcissistic, per se, but she knows what talents she has, and she's not afraid to show them off when she can. But just because she's vain and blunt, doesn't mean she's not kind, or, at least a semblance of it. She's helpful when she gets something in return for her kindness, but if she gets nothing, she deems you not worth her time. However, the reward could be as simple as a "Thank you", though she tends to prefer more; the more she's "paid" the more likely she is to help you in the future. She can be quite fiery and argumentative, always wanting the last word, but never lowers herself to petty insults and yelling matches to get her point across. Competitiveness drives her spirit, and winning is her ultimate goal.

This one should be obvious. Since she was raised form such a young age to be a show dog, Pandora loves competing in anything: from dog shows down to who can eat their food faster. It doesn't matter what kind of competition it is, as long as she can participate, she's happy. She's even happier when she wins, however, and has earned the reputation of a sore loser.
-Sleeping
When she's not competing in different games and contests, she's normally found sprawled in her favorite spot, imitating a freight train with her snoring. It's often joked that she's trying to out sleep the "competition"...something that is actually quite likely.
-Being Right
Most people enjoy being correct about anything and everything, but Pandora takes it to a whole new level. It's like she had been crowned Queen of Everything the moment she finds out she's right about something, making arguments and debates quite unsatisfying for the other participant.
