Akari knew that they had been flying for at least a couple hours, her shoulders were aching for relief, her wings continuedly moving up and down, each stroke taking them an inch further away from the evil lab. Above her, the sky was painted crimson, the light of the setting sun slowly getting weaker and weaker, her wings turning back to white with each passing moment. Soon enough, the moon would be the one ruling the sky and they would be forced to rest.
"Alright guys. How about a pit stop?"
Without waiting for a reply, she changed her direction and dove towards the ground, wind whipping through her hair as she descended faster and faster. Finally, seeing a few sturdy looking trees on the ground, she spread out her wings, wincing when the wind tore through her feathers, but she drifted onto one of the higher branches. In the distance, bright city lights flashed, blue, red, and purple waving back and forth through the sky. Her sensitive ears picked up the sound of distant booming music, thumping in time with the music. Although she couldn't make out the words, she could feel the beat rock through her body.
Watching the others come down, she leaned against the trunk, folding her wings as well as her arms. Her gaze slowly drifted towards the large city once again, their next stop. A place where they could hopefully get food and shelter.

You killed me everyday you were gone.

Naomi kept in sync next to Damian, glancing over at him a few times in worry. He was covered in soot and she was sure she saw some blood, but if could have just been the reflection from the sunset surrounding them. Finally she just kept her gaze ahead, focused on the city in the distance that Akari was leading them towards. From the lab it had looked so close, now it looked similar to endless flying.
Sighing, she shoved the negative thoughts from her head, watching as Akari choose to dive down towards two or three oak trees beneath them. There was a single asphalt road at least a mile away. Human eyes wouldn't be able to spot them in the trees, so it looked as if they were safe and secure as of then.
Her black wings strained with effort as they slowly pulled her down towards the trees, and when she landed they seemed to burn even worse than when she was flying. She picked a branch under Akari, rubbing her shoulders with a frown, trying to get rid of the annoying pain inside them. She watched the city as she did this, swaying to the beat and closing her eyes in enjoyement. That's when it really hit her. She was no longer in a cage. She wasn't listening to arguements between Erasers and White-coats anymore. Instead she was on a tree branch listening to music. If this is what freedom felt like for real, she couldn't wait to bask in it.

:Jason Smith:

I wanna be a billionare, so freakin' bad.

Jason couldn't help but grin and perform a spin as he realized that they were landing. His wings were so tired, he thought they would fall off a few times as they were flying, as well on a few occasions he had slowly began to descend, his eyes drooping, until one of the Flock came down to help him back on track. So far, he had survived, but he was sure another minute would kill him, which is why he was ecstatic.
Practically flopping down on the branch, Jay landed on the second tree near the branches that Ari and Nudge perched on, splaying out his wings and sticking out his tongue like an over-sized dog with wings. He heard a laugh from Nudge and glanced up at Ari who just smirked and rolled her eyes. He watched and waited for the other three of the Flock to choose their spots, afraid to go to sleep without someone making sure he didn't fall off his branch. He had done it before, so he didn't exactly trust himself anymore.

(Good to have ya back! 8D)
-tacklehugs-

.:Ryu Firenze:.
Ryu ignored the bright sun and tried not to focus on the pain his wings were causing him. It had been awhile since he had used them and this was probably the longest he has ever flown with them. His grey eyes shifted downwards towards Ari when she began her sudden decent and he followed once the rest of the Flock reacted and landed. He was the last one to land and he took a high branch just above Jay. He settled rather quickly and leaned in against the trunk of the tree while allowing his wings to cool. He didn't feel all that tired mentally but his body told him that it was a time to rest. The sounds of the city didn't comfort him all that much, what if they were being followed? They wouldn't be able to hear much of anything with this much noise..
Ryu shook his head and turned away from the city and looked at the tree Ari, Nudge, and Damian took refuge in. The trees were close enough for talking but they didn't have to speak that loud to talk. Their hearing was enhanced greatly, which makes the sounds of music and people sound a bit louder than what a normal person would hear.
Ryu relaxed once he saw that everyone was alright and well, excluding the part were they were all trying to ease their aching limbs and wings. He had no fear in falling from the tree while sleeping, their natural animal mixed insincts wouldn't allow them to do such things. It was strange but that would be something Ryu wouldn't be surprised over, a lot of strange things could happen to them. Taking Damian for example, using fire to his will and good graces. That worried him a little knowing Damain's hot-headed personality but he truste dthat he wouldn't do anything stupid, like lighting the trees on fire while they slept. But one thing was for sure, Ryu was going to stay up for awhile longer. It made him feel better that the Flock got their sleep before him.

-----------------------------------

.:Damian Auguste:.
It took him awhile but Damian watched as his cuts stop bleeding and scab over is a rather fast pace. Unlike humans him and the other experiments heal faster. He didn't bother try to rid of the soot, he was going to need a real shower or something to rid of that, it was a lost cause without it. But he found his time well spent burning down the building, or at least he hoped, it would of given the school something else to think about besides the experiment breakout. He rubbed his arms a bit as they ached a little, his wings were aching as well from the sudden use of them but that was something he could handle. It was better than being cramped in a dog crate.
After seeing Naomi glancing at him he felt a bit better that someone was actually worried for him but he also felt a bit embarressed at the same time. "I'm fine," He muttered lightly enough for Naomi to hear since she was so near. Ryu and Ari were ahead of course with Serria and Jay behind them, with Ryu flying the highest now that Damian noticed. The boy felt the comfort of the cold metal lighter in his back pocket as he flew, now Damian had something to defend himself with besides his wits.
"'Bout time," Damian said when Ari mentioned a pit stop and changed directions. The sudden decent gave Damian a thrill as he gained speed towards the tree but he gradually extended his rusty-red wings once more to slow down and got a hold of a branch. He landed a bit roughly and the branch snapped as Damian settled. Damian's green eyes widened and he lept forward for Naomi's branch. It was big enough to handle him and Namoi, so he heaved a sigh of relief and left his wings open slightly to cool off. "Hope you don't mind me bunking here." He said to Namoi. The branch he landed on moments ago finally hit the ground, taking a few more smaller branches and twigs along with it. Damian blinked and swung his legs below him finally realizing how far they were from the ground. It was comforting, his bird-like DNA told him it was a good thing to be off the ground. At least the Erasers wouldn't be able to find them, it's not like they can grown wings overnight right?
Damian smirked at the thought and shook his head as he looked over towards the lights of the city. All kinds of sounds reached him, music, people talking, cars and trucks motoring down roads. It was somewhat new to him but he liked it, it was something he could get used to. But he was not going to get used to the idea of having an empty stomach as it growled at him. "First thing tomorrow, I'm knocking some pizza boy across the head." He called and it seemed to calm his hunger knowing that he was going to do somethig about it.

-----------------------------------

.:Serria Hawkins:.
Serria sighed heavily and gracefully landed on a branch just below Jay. She had her back against the trunk of the tree as she fumbled with her blonde hair, it was windblown and tangled. She hissed when she hit a knot and quickly fixed it before grabbing another section of her long hair. What she really wanted right now was a nice hot bath or something, and even something to eat but she knew that would come soon. After hearing Damian's comment she laughed a bit and folded her wings behind her shortly after. The tree was uncomfortable but she gave the Flock a quick look over. Half of them occupied one tree while the other half was in the other. This relaxed her since they could all see each other quite well, all except the ground but she didn't want to think about that.

(( *falls over from extreme tackle hug* lol
I got kept down by sickness. Stupid cold. :P Bleh))

Akari leaned back against the tree, content with looking down at the sunset, the weariness having not caught up with her quite yet. She watched as Jason and Serria slowly dozed off, eventually followed by a giggling Nudge, but Ryu was still awake, turned away from the city lights as if he couldn't bear the sight of it. Or the noise. It was pretty noisy to fall asleep to the sound of blaring rock, but the others didn't seem to mind. Probably too worn out to care.
She could see a piece of curly red hair out of the corner of her eye, realizing that she probably had a bed-head of epic proportions. Glancing down, she noticed Serria combing her fingers through her hair, and realized that that was probably a good idea, considering her own hair was a tousled mess. Slowly pulling out knots and tangles, she knew it was going to be a while.
Finally, the sky was dark, little twinkles of light starting to appear near a rising full moon. She fought back the urge to howl and freak out the others, knowing that they were all worn out and tired, so tomorrow wouldn't exactly end well. So, instead, she pulled out her long red hair from around her fingers, realizing that her little combing session had pulled out more hair than it had straightened. Rolling her eyes, she just muttered something about, "to heck with it." and looked over at Ryu.
Since everyone seemed to be deep asleep, Ari focused her gaze on him. "What's up with you sleeping beauty?" A smirk lit her face, the tension that seemed to hover over her ever since the escape faded away.

::Naomi Marie::

You killed me everyday you were gone.

Naomi adjusted her wings, completely comfortable, and her eyes had just begun to close when a loud crack shattered her peace and calm. The sound of desperately fluttering wings snapped her eyes back open, but worry turned to amusement as she watched Damian fly up into her branch, the sound of the large branch hitting the ground sounding beneath them. She only rolled her eyes at his question, answering yes anyways and peering over the edge of the branch and shaking her head at the destruction caused by the fallen branch. Twigs and leaves littered the ground, as well as a few feathers drifted towards the ground.
Looking over at Damian, she couldn't stop a giggle from escaping her mouth at his comment, and even though she took it as a joke, she would have taken out two pizza guys for food. She was seriously starving. "Don't worry, I got your back." She teased with a wink, before rolling over on her side and leaning up against the trunk, using her folded hands as a pillow. It wasn't long before her breathing slowed and she was out cold, a blank dark followed by wispy memories her only companions as she slept.

Jason was picking through his feathers when he glanced down at the others, realizing that they were all pretty much asleep. Noticing that he should be doing the same, he layed down on the branch, closing his brown eyes and resting his head down on his upper arm, ready to go to sleep. That day had been a wreck in itself, and he knew that he would end up having nightmares, but he didn't worry, knowing that Ari would wake him up if they got too bad.
Hearing the light voice of hers after he was semi-unconcious only reminded him more that she was like a mother to him, and although his normal self would have wanted to stay awake and see who she was talking to, he was to far down in black to come back up. So, like any other normal avian-human sleeping in a tree, he passed out.

(Ah, I hope you feel better then!)

.:Ryu Firenze:.
Ryu shiffled his wings when he heard Ari's voice. He half-heartedly hoped that she would fall asleep with the rest of the Flock but he also felt a bit of relief that he wasn't alone up here. Even with it still being dark he could still see the Flock sleeping, all except him and Ari, who was looking right at him. Ryu wanted to shrink and disappear into the darkness but he willed himself to glance at Ari and reply evenly.
"Nothing, just thinking." He replied and opened one of his wings to pick out a few broken and loose feathers. His wings could hardly been seen except for the white patches of feathers near his shoulders. He frowned slightly at the sight but folded his wing back and turned to lean his back up against the tree, is left leg hung down below him while the other remained on the branch, bent and close to his chest as he rested his chin upon his knee. His gaze fell upon the tree across from him and saw that Damian was lying on his back on the same branch Nudge was sleeping on. His red wings were drooping by his sides and one of his arms was over his eyes. He looked more tired than the rest of the Flock, maybe it was because of the fire he caused. Ryu had no clue what made the boy do such a thing but he was glad the boy did it without getting hurt.
"What's up with you? Arn't you tired too?" Ryu asked a bit curiously but lightly. It was a bit obvious that the Flock choose Ari to lead them judging from how she natrually led them. Ryu didn't mind it nor did he object to it, some people were just naturally good at things.

Akari figured that he was probably a bit uncomfortable with talking to her. I mean, it wasn't like they were best friends or anything. Sure, they had been experimented on together, but they were just escape buddies. Ari was expecting Serria, Damian, and him to go off on their on, and although she wanted them to stay, she wasn't their mom. She had no control over them.
But, she replied to him anyways. "Nah, I've always been more of a night person." She made her eyes change to a golden color and then back to their original green, wiggling her eyebrows teasingly. She was a shape-shifter, her one of two forms a tiger, giving her her semi-golden and green eyes. "I kinda just like sitting out here and thinking, of course we had tons of time to do that in the lab." She rolled her eyes in annoyance.
"It's kind of... Nice, ya know?"

(Sorry for going MIA for awhile... got grounded -.-')

.:Ryu Firenze:.
Ryu tilted his head slightly when Ari changed eye colors but he shook his head and glanced at the city, how could he think peacfully with that much noise? "Yeah, it's nice, I guess," He finally replied and straightened out his leg and leaned his head up against the tree behind him. "I'd rather take this than be in the lab anyday." He shrugged his shoulders a bit and studied the lights for awhile, how they flickered and what caused them.
Ryu could see a building that had nothing but windows and it seemed to be like an office type of deal. Desks can be seen as well as computers and stressed out people rolling in chairs in their spaces. One of them was arguing on a cell phone while another was nodding of to sleep. It seemed like a soap opera at every lit window, one was totally different from another. This deemed to be rather entertaining to Ryu until he saw one with to workers having a make out session.
Ryu rolled his eyes and looked for something else to keep his mind busy, the thought of going back to the school was starting to bug him. Really badly. How long will they run like this? Will they be caught tomorrow? Next week? Those question were starting to haunt him and Ryu flickered his grey eyes back over towards Ari. She didn't seem to be worried all that much, why should he? Maybe it was because he was tired and hungry at the same time, it had to be that somehow.
"Are you planning on staying together like this?" Ryu asked lightly. He had always thought himself as a loner sometimes but since he had spent some time with the Flock he felt like that he needed to stick around for awhile. See if they needed him and he needed them. A test before he gave the thought of staying with them for real.

Akari laughed at his reaction, rolling her eyes. "I guess it's just me who enjoys the city life." She sighed, looking across at the flashing lights. To her, they were comforting, but it was only her who thought that way. "Maybe that's where I was born before those damn white-coats took me. Oh who knows. I guess it's a mystery."
She sensed something different in Ryu as time stretched on, but when she glanced at him she could only see his neutral expression. On the inside, she was terrified that the Erasers might find them, but Ryu kept his cool as if it was no big deal. Maybe she was just panicking on the inside. Starting tomorrow she would start fresh. A good nights rest would do her some good, but she seriously couldn't sleep. Something was keeping her awake.
Maybe it was her worrying.
She was so encased in her thoughts that she almost missed Ryu's question, but catching the end of it she got the jist of it. And it wasn't a good jist either. "Well.. Umm... Well I was wondering what you thought about it. I kinda wanted to stick together because... Well I don't know. Umm."
She stopped, trying to ignore the awkward silence that followed her answer. She couldn't put her thoughts into words at that moment, so she curled up under her wings and layed her head down on her hands.
"I'm really tired, I guess I should hit the hay. Night."

(No clue.... I think the answer will make my brain explode or something XD)

.:Ryu Firenze:.
Ryu tilted his head slightly when Akari turned and rested her head. The way she ended the conversation left Ryu a bit puzzled but a make-shift answer was better than no answer at all, even if it wasn't the answer he was expecting.
"Night," Ryu sighed lightly and shifted a bit as he shuffled his wings behind him. It was a bit windy but the ttrees around the flock seemed to block most of it, all but the soft breezes that Ryu felt. He remained awake for an hour or two before drifting off to sleep himself. He kept his concerns and questions to himself and planned to keep it that way unless he knew he was going to get an answer in return next time. Ryu couldn't really blame Akari for not giving him a straight answer, he didn't know why he was sticking around them. Yeah, he knew them in the lab and all but there was no real reason why he was staying close to them. Was he afraid that he would be stuck alone again? That would be a rather selfish reason in Ryu's eyes.
Ryu huffed one last time before offically drifting. He would sort out his answers tomorrow, they were safe for the time being so he better take advantage of it.

-Time Skip to morning(?)-

.:Damian Auguste:.
Damian flickered his emerald green eyes open when the sky above him became a bit brighter. Much brighter. Maybe even a bit too bright..
"Son of a-" Damian sat up and stretched when he felt how sore his wings were. Folding them behind his back felt like a chore and he didn't dare open them back up unless he really had to. He swung his leg over the branch he was perched on and he realized how he didn't manage to fall. It was probably a bird thing or that was just plain luck. Damian knew he was the kind to toss and turn in his sleep.
The red-haired avian looked up to find Akari still where he last saw her and Ryu didn't seem to move from his place either. Damian was a bit surprised to see him still here, the guy seemed to be the kind to always know how to take acre of himself without the aid of others. But then none of them had a good reason to stay.
That wasn't really important to Damian. If they were gonna stick together, great, having a team in a situation like this is always awesome. If not, then Damian would head on his own way. He didn't care, anywhere was better than the School.

Akari woke up to bright sunlight hitting her eyelids, making her wince at the shinyness of it all and duck her head under her wings, shielding herself from the light. "Damn, this is exactly why I hate the morning so much. Too. Bright." Letting out an exasperated sigh, she yawned, stretching out her arms and adjusting her entirely too sore wings. Stupid sleep. Always getting in the way. She glanced down to make sure no one had fallen off their branches, and when assured no one had, she glanced over at Ryu. Who was still asleep. Rolling her eyes, she picked a piece of bark off the trunk, and, praying he wasn't too grumpy in the mornings, chucked it at him, hearing a clunk as it bounced off his wide open forehead. "Wake up sleepy head!" She practically tweeted, her mischevious grin the highlight of her face.
Hoping he wouldn't be too pissed, she tried to duck down behind her branch just in case, shielding herself with her wings as she peered past one of her feathers to see his reaction.

::Naomi Marie::

You killed me everyday you were gone.

Naomi woke up as soon as Damian shifted, but when she went to stretch, she realized that one leg was draped over Damian's while her arm was laying across his chest. A blush instantly appeared on her face and she nearly leaped off him in embarassment. Hoping he hadn't noticed she quickly glanced away, her teeth gritted in expectation.
She made sure he couldn't see her while she smoothed down her hair, combing her dirty fingers through it as she tried to kill away the total embarassment she felt. Smooth one Nudge. She thought to herself, laughing mentally as she glanced over her reaction she had just had. Hoping that Akari would distract them, she found right when she chucked a large piece of bark at Ryu. Was she crazy? Mentally unstable? No way in hell did she just throw something and hit Ryu. Either this would go bad, or very bad.

(X'D Nudge made me laugh out loud..)
-Covers mouth and tries not to wake up anyone-

.:Ryu Firenze:.
Ryu practically jumped right out of his skin when he felt something strike his head. His first reflex was to cover the area where he had been struck and he growled in hostility. When he saw Akari duck for cover, it didn't take Ryu long to find out who did what. Damian was buckling over laughing, surprised he hasn't fallen out of the damn branch yet. Now with Ryu in a pissed off mood, he half-heartedly hoped the kid fell off and broke a leg. Something like that wouldn't really bother an avian since they can heal much faster than normal but it was something that could ruin anybody's day. Why not his?
"Dammit," He huffed and blinked when he heard a yelp. The piece of bark Akari threw dropped onto Serria just below Ryu.
"Ow!" The blone squeaked and rubbed her shoulder where the bark fell on her.
"Yeah, well, good morning to you too." Ryu huffed and stood only to glide over towards another tree, a bit farther from the flock but still in sight. If Akari ever decided to throw something esle at him then it would take a bit of effort to reach this far.

.:Damian Auguste:.
"Stop taking things so damn seriously and get back here!" Damian called but Ryu glanced at him and flipped him off in response. This made Damian chuckle and laugh a bit more before rubbing his eyes. He nearly forgot how much his wings were hurting with what he had just witnessed. Seeing Ryu wake up like that was priceless! If Damian did something like that then he would probably get his ass kicked. If Akari was a guy then this morning would of been a hell of a time.
"Don't you think that was a bit mean?" Serria asked and tried not to yawn in the middle of her question.
"Eh, depends on how you look at it. I thought it was funny," Damian shrugged and then glanced at Nudge. He almost missed the fact that she looked a bit flustered. "You alright?" He questioned curiously and felt something hit him on the back of the head. Turned out Serria plucked a pinecone and had an aim for Damian.
"How could you find that funny?" Serria glared at Damian for a few seconds but gave up when he didn't respond.
