I watched her dance with fascination. It was like this every night she would dance through my dreams distracting me with her beauty and grace the lines of grey and purple that adorned her coat seemed to ripple with every move she made. I always asked why she danced through my dreams and who she was, I never got a reply. When her dance brought her to a halt in front of me, I merely stared at the dark coated doe. "Rouge it is time you and I met for real on the night of the winter solstice under the tallest tree you will find me at midnight, I will await your arrival" she said as her body faded away and the dream ended. I opened my eyes noticing that my warm pillow had had vanished, grumbling quietly to myself I stretched and slid out of the soft warm bed.
Bending down I gently rubbed the ears of my mabari who eagerly licked my face good morning, "good morning Barkspawn" I laughed softly and straightened up. "Come on boy lets go find some food and then I can think about how to slip away on the night of the winter solstice without waking him up" I said and walked toward the door humming lightly. Barkspawn followed eagerly charging down the stairs ahead of me to leap on my poor unsuspecting man, I shook head and waited silently on the stairs for the yelp of surprise from my loved one. There was a yelp and loud crash moments later and I headed down the stairs and leaned on the doorway laughing at the predicament my other half was in, "it's not funny Morgana" he said glaring at me, "whatever you say sweetheart" I said and twirled past him easily dancing away from the hands that tried to grab my ankles.
I grabbed an apple and happily crunched it up as I began to mentally plan tonight's hi-jinks. The day passed by fairly quickly and then time came to for the plan to be put in motion, he was sleeping soundly and the arm across my waist was now looser than it was when he had fallen asleep. I slowly lifted his arm and scooted out from underneath it, pausing as he shifted a small shaft of moon light falling across his face smiling I swung my legs onto the floor and swiftly stood up. Luckily I had always been light on my feet, I opened the door cautiously not knowing if today would be one the days where it squeaked, there was slight squeak and I flinched waiting to be asked where I was going.
Sighing in relief I crept down the stairs and slid my feet into the silver grey boots, grabbing the keys I unlocked the door and stepped outside into the cool night air, I locked the door and jumped as a soft nicker startled me. A dark mare nudged my pockets looking for treats the moon crescent moon around each eye glowed brightly and it was only the glowing markings that enabled me to see her in the night. I pulled myself onto her back and tangled my fingers in her dark to glowing light mane "fly" I breathed in her ear and held tight to her mane as she took off into the air galloping through the sky. As we neared the lake Espirito De Lua had to being dodging trees multiple times we almost crashed, luckily we managed to land in the shallows of the lake without injury.
I walked toward the tree and sure enough there was the doe lying beneath the tree she was practically invisible but when she moved I could see her easier "I see you made it in piece Morgana that's good to know" she said lightly. "It has been a long time since we last spoke and you met me in a different form" the doe said staring at me with deep soulful blue eyes, her voice was very familiar, a memory flickered to life in front of my eyes Swift Runner stood next the to the lady of the forest. "The lady of the forest it has indeed been a long time but what are you doing in the body of a deer don't tell me some elf has gone a bit crazy and bound you to this form" I replied.
She laughed musically flowers budding and blooming under her hooves and along the purple stripes adorning her legs, "no dear Morgana this time I am in a body because the natural spirit asked me to share her body and help the forest" the lady replied. She placed a dark hoof onto the trees bark and closed her eyes, a song filled my ears and I listened in wonder as it grew in volume until I figure it was the tree that was singing. I couldn't understand the words but it was still hauntingly beautiful, when the lady joined in with the tree song I was hypnotized such a beautiful thing was incredibly new to me, even Lelianas' songs weren't as good as this and she was a professional bard.
