Actually its not rude. And there is no need to be so upset, you can just kindly tell the user no: not "heck no"
She/he can ask if she/he likes there is no rule that says you cannot unless it says "for adoption"

Its rude to ask. And its pretty annoying.
If someone wants to give away their character it would say "up for adoption."

It doesnt say that anywhere, so he didnt need to be rude by asking. Thank you, now please end the conversation.

Well, I think it would be pretty annoying if someone went up to every one of my character refs and said "Is this for adoption?"
