Sorry for such a delay, but I've been extremely busy and have only been able to pop in and out.
Plus, there will be quite a few trackers going up for adoption soon. c;

10:40pm. "Okay, son, it's time for bed now." The man reached over for the nightstand, grabbing the lamps pull string.
"No daddy! One more game, please!" The little boy whined. His father stopped, leaned back and adjusted himself on the edge of his sons bed.
"Okay, how about I Spy this time?"
The boy nodded eagerly.
"You start!" he commanded and closed his eyes. The father looked around until he spied something then he tapped his son.
"Alright. I spy something red." The boy opened his eyes and looked around his room, scooting up in his bed to get an easier view.
"Is it Oscar?" The father looked over to the boys dresser where a fishbowl sat on top, containing a reddish colored fish.
"Nope." His father said, shaking his head. "Try again." They both were quiet for a second until the boy said, "Did you spy that bloody hand print on the wall?" His father jerked his head back to were he was pointing but saw nothing.
"What blood?" His father was alarmed. The boy shook his head slowly.
"I guess it's gone." He murmured while looking over at his toys.
"It's gotta be my stuffed t-rex!" The boys dad smiled and nodded.
"You're right! Good job. My turn now, but then you gotta go to bed." He nodded and his father closed his eyes. After a short moment, the boy said, "I spy something with an S." His dad opened his eyes and looked over to the boys closet.
"Is it your skateboard?" The boy shook his head no.
"Is it your sticker book?" Again, he said no. After a few more guesses, his father threw his arms up in mock exasperation.
"I give up! What is it?" The boy smiled triumphantly at his father.
"It's the spider!" He laughed and his father looked around the top of the walls curiously.
"What spider?"
"That big one that was in the corner. It was weird looking, the eyes glowed. But he's gone now."
His father stared ahead then stood. "If you see it again, I'll come kill it for you. But it's time for bed now, goodnight." He reached down and kissed his son on the forehead.
"Goodnight daddy. But don't kill the spider..." He murmured and sunk down in his bed, heavy eyed and yawning. The man turned the light off, cracked the door, and left the room.February 20th
3:04am. A scream echoes through the hallways. The parents awaken and run to the source: their sons room. The door is locked.
3:05am. Scream still continuing, gurgled, muffled. The parents desperately try to shake the door loose with no luck. The father rams his shoulder over and over to knock it down.
3:06am. The screaming stops. The man rears back to tackle the door again, but it creaks open instead.
3:10am. Police arrive.
8:11am. "Victim is 7 year old Lucas Holden. Parents heard him screaming and found the door locked. When it opened after the screaming stopped, they found this. No murder weapon identified."
The scene was brutal. Lucas Holden lay in his bed, blankets pulled completely off and were piled on the floor, soaked with blood. His head was twisted to the side in an awkward, painful way. One arm was off the bed and the other lay beside him, both palms up, both mangled.
His eyes were wide, his mouth open slightly in his silent scream. The walls were splattered with blood, sprayed above the bed, on each opposite wall, and on the ceiling and the fan.
"The poor kid..." A woman murmured. A detective. She had dark brown hair and grayish-blue eyes. She looked to her partner who scribbled on a notepad. All around them people were marking the crime scene and taking evidence. She walked over to the left side of the bed, looking at the boys face.
"What are you thinking, Maddie?" Her African-American partner questioned and walked over, bending his head slightly to look at her expression. She knelt down to the boys bedside and looked at his face, snapping her gloves on.
"I'm thinking," she said, "that his right eye is missing. Charlie, look at this." She motioned for her partner, who got a closer look at Lucas's face.
"My God..." Charlie breathed as Maddie turned boys face gently by his chin. "What could have done that?" Maddie stood rather quickly and turned to the doorway, walking around the blood.
"I have no idea, but we're gonna find out. Let's talk to the parents."
The two of them walked down the stairs and into the Holden family living room. Pictures of Lucas and an older girl sat upon the fireplace. More pictures of Lucas and his parents, Lucas and himself, and Lucas and a dog sat next to them. His face was bright and happy, his smile wide.
A woman sitting on the couch followed Maddie's gaze. She was holding a wallet-sized picture tightly. Her eyes were red, her face stained with tears. She looked quickly away from the pictures and back to the detective. Maddie shook her head to clear her thoughts.
"Uh...Mr. and Mrs. Holden, I'm Detective Madeline Montero. This is Detective Charles Davenport. We're here to ask you a few questions about your son." She said as they both sat down on the couch across from them. A coffee table separated them, a cup of tea on a coaster, still steaming.
"Who would do this to a child? Such a horrible thing to a 7 year old boy?" The mother whispered.
"We're very sorry for your loss, we're going to do everything that we can to find out and put them away." Charlie said, leaning forward. The mother cried into her husbands shoulder while he wrapped his arm around her, patting her lightly.
"What time did Lucas go to bed?" Maddie asked.
"About 10:54pm. He was supposed to be in bed at 10:30, but he wanted to stay up..wanted to play another game." Mr. Holden's voice was hoarse as he recalled his sons last night.
"Would anyone have wanted to hurt him?"
"No!" Mrs. Holden's head shot up. She dabbed her eyes with a tissue. "Nobody would have wanted to hurt Lucas. He was a good kid, he played soccer, he got good grades, he had lots of friends..." She paused and looked down.
"He was so good at science. He wanted to be a scientist. He loved animals too, he thought about being a vet."
"May we...continue this later? We have to go call our daughter." Mr. Holden asked the detectives as his wife collapsed again into his arms, sobbing.
"We'll be back." Charles nodded and they both stood, leaving the room.
10:38am. Madeline Montero's heels clicked against the sidewalk as she almost passed her first stop.In her hand was a coffee from the local coffee shop, keeping her hand warm in the February cold. Only a few hours after the gruesome discovery of the Holden boy and they were doing the autopsy now. She has always hated the morgue, but it was necessary for her to be there. Charles was already inside, standing beside the medical examiner. She was a short, slightly chubby woman with shoulder length black hair. They both looked when she arrived.
"Great, you're here. You'll never believe this, come look what Becca found." Charlie jerked his head and she walked over. Lucas was covered up but once she got closer, Rebecca Hart pulled the white sheet back. Maddie gasped softly.
"His eye was gone, but so was his tongue. It's weird though...the eye wasn't pried out with any tool. It was scooped out very delicately and cleanly. The tongue wasn't so lucky, but i found what looked like pincher marks on each side at the base of where hi tongue was. And I found this inside his throat."
Rebecca held up a bag with a very light item inside. Maddie peered closely.
"What is it?"
"A spider web. Weird, right? It was placed perfectly in his throat, like a spider had spun it recently."
Maddie stared at the perfect spider web in the plastic evidence bag.
"Do you know what it was that killed him yet?"
"No, not the weapon. It's too unclear. It just looks like he had been eaten. I mean, his arms and legs are so mangled, so...gone." Rebecca shook her head.
"It all happened in three minutes too. That's so odd. Why would a person do that?" Charlie shook his head.
"Disgusting." Maddie murmured. She turned back towards the door and tossed her lukewarm coffee into the trash.
"I'll call if I find anything else out, you guys." Rebecca said as Madeline placed her hand on the door knob. She looked back at the medical examiner, Rebecca, one of her oldest friends. Maddie nodded.
"Thanks Becca."
10:40pm. "I'll see you tomorrow, Maddie. Oh, and Happy Birthday."
Maddie smiled. She had almost forgotten her birthday was tomorrow. Gosh, how old was she going to be? 26, that's right. She felt so old already.
"Thank you, Charlie. See you tomorrow." She slammed her cell phone shut and sunk a little lower into the her bathtub. The warm water and bubbles always made her feel much better after a long day. Still though, she couldn't seem to shake loose the image of the poor Holden boy's body. She couldn't imagine what caused this boy to be the victim at all. Shutting her eyes, she placed her earphones in her ears and sighed, content. She hadn't even noticed her window in her room open, the curtains flying in the breeze. She didn't notice. that is, until the cold breeze. She opened her eyes and sat up
"Hello?" She called. Her room was dark and all she could see was the faint moonlight shining through. A figure moved a bit and it wasn't until she had spoke that it looked at her, glowing red eyes. She blinked, nervous, but didn't know if she should scream. The thing came closer to the door of the bathroom were it was dimly lit and she could see what it was. A tracker dog, a strange one though. Eight legs, two tails, and pinchers. It sat down and cocked its head at her.
"Hey there." Maddie said softly, leaning a hand over. "Come here." But the tracker just sat there, the red glow made her skin prickle. She started to stand to get out when the tracker jumped up abruptly, growled and backed away. She stopped for a moment then lifted a leg out of the tub. The tracker growled louder then leaped away from the doorway and jumped out of the window. It slammed closed after it was gone and everything went quite again.
Odd...She thought. Trackers normally had owners.February 21st
8:29am "Good morning, Madeline." Charlie smiled at his partner, holding out a coffee to her, still steaming. On the cup was written, in black sharpie HAPPY BIRTHDAY in Charlie's neat print handwriting.
"Three sugars?" Maddie smiled and winked at him. He was her best friend and knew exactly how she liked her coffee. Charlie smiled and nodded, chuckling softly.
"Anything on the Holden boys death?" Maddie asked, sipping her coffee.
"Becca did call, but she sounded like she wanted both of us to hear it." Maddie nodded, a twinge of something picked at her skin. Was it morbid that she was excited? She didn't voice this excitement to Charlie in that fear.
"Great, let's go. Actually," She paused, looking at her warm coffee. ", let's wait until we finish these." Charlie laughed and held his cup out for her.
"Deal." He said and they knocked their cups together.
9:00am "Took you long enough." Becca said in mock anger, but smiled at the pair. "Oh, happy birthday Maddie."
Madeline smiled and nodded.
"Thanks, so what did you find out?" Becca's eyes brightened a little bit as she remembered her discovery.
"I don't think it was a person that killed him." Charlie and Maddie exchanged a glance.
"What could it have been then?"
"An animal. And not just any animal, but I'm not sure what yet." Maddie narrowed her eyes at Rebecca.
"An animal?"
"There is no way it could be a human. There are claw marks, fang marks...and the weirder thing, their are only two claw marks."
"Hmm?" Maddie was confused.
"Whatever the animal, it only had two claws instead of four, like a dog would, or something."
"So an animal killed him. Must have been a very smart little thing..." Maddie elbowed Charlie lightly who doubled over, faking that it hurt but he smiled at her evilly.
