Name: Din'au
Species: Deer God
Personality:
Din'au is neither a god of wrath nor kindness. To many she is known, to few she is seen. Only those who she chooses may see her at all. And even that may not be a good thing.
Din'au takes pride in mainly the forests. Being a Deer God, it's well being is what interests her the most. She controls the forests, the movements of the trees, the growth of the reeds, and even creates her own masterpieces. Wondering into her forests is always a dangerous thing. Nobody would dare try and tear them down. While mysterious, Din'au's wrath is a horrible thing to experiance. Loggers once used to think they could use her trees, but when the first tree fell Din'au was awakened. She stood amongst the trees, out of sight, and watched. As the dozers began moving into the forest, she helped the forest fight back. She killed the engine, clogging it with vines. When the men made camp for the night, the soon discovered that the forest floors were their worst nightmare. Small plants lined the ground, secreting a strong acid as they grew and strangled the men. By morning, there was no evidence that man had ever set foot in the once again beautiful forest.
While one not to be messed with, Din'au can also be kind. The forest animals do not fear her. When she approaches them, it is almost always a sign of good luck to come. She will bend her antlers and touch them to the wounded and sick, healing them as she wills. Strangers entering the forest are always tested, and if their intentions are good, she lets them pass, often appearing to them and giving them her blessings. If their intentions are bad, she curses them, rarely showing herself unless she wills them to survive and spread their fear to their kin.
Din'au is never outsmarted either. Often men will enter her forests and try to trick her in various ways. This is not an easy task. Her eyes are the trees, they see and hear all, she knows all. She may enter their minds, twist their thoughts, torture them slowly until they admit out loud their true intentions. On rare occasions, if she has to fight, she does so gracefully and silently.
Of course, Din'au never makes any noises. She is silent, never speaking, but through the minds of others. Her hooves do not beat against the ground as she runs. For she runs with the wind, little more than a shape. She has no clear eyes, only a mask to cover her face. Her face is not that of a deer, it is an unknown, it is not, and it is.
Nobody understands Din'au, and that is as she wishes it to be. She doesn't want to be understood, she remains a mystery. Not something that can be caught or killed, but still their. Her presence can be felt in many places at once. Many see only her mask, no body attatched to it as it floats detatched and above the ground.
Without a true face, she also lacks visable emotions. While she does clearly give off an essance of power, beauty, and majesty, she is always seemingly calm. To some she is a symbol to fear and bad luck, to others, the exact opposite. Din'au does not hate all people. She lets a choice few into her forests without causing them any harm. There are tribes that collect berries and survive off of the forest. They know to respect the deer god.
