All About You
Name:
Demotivated_bear
Tracker dog wanted:
Seventy-six, 76
Why this one?:
How do I explain what's going through my head right now as I look at his picture? The first thing that caught my attention with him would be those adorable ears. I love the way they curve backwards into that little swirl, almost like the vines around a pumpkin patch. I love the goofy, playful expression on his face and the way his tail curls over his back. The contrast of his colors also draws my eyes to him and makes me long to have him.
His looks aren't the only reason I want him, however. His personality makes him even cuter in my mind. He's hyper and playful, and the fact that he enjoys scaring people amuses me to no end. I can already feel him as a character, as a partner of sorts. I can already sense his personality, more expanded than the little tidbit we're supplied with. What makes him tick, so to speak. I can't wait to put his story down where others can see it.
The main reason I want him is a combination of all of the things I listed beforehand. You see, he reminds me of my dog, Jake. His goofy, almost derpy expression, the way his tail is held, and most of all his personality. When I scrolled down to see the new trackers, it was like a picture of Jake was sitting on the page, calling out to me. It makes me long to have this guy, and it makes me absolutely adore him already.
What will you do with him?:
A little bit of everything. Roleplay, write stories, and especially draw him. He's too adorable to ignore, or be left to rot on my character thread.

Identity and Physical Characteristics
Given Name:
Tracker 76.
Chosen Name:
Jarrahdale
Why?:
Jarrahdale is a type of hard-to-find pumpkin that is a slate green color on the outside. I felt like it fit.
Fur:
Jarrahdale's fur is a deep leafy green in color on most of his body. It is thick and soft, providing him with excellent protection against the elements when he is outdoors. His face is bright orange, like a pumpkin, and the fur emits a soft glow that makes it hard for him to easily hide himself. His tail ends in a frond, like a leaf and carries the same texture as one.
Measurements:
Jarrahdale stands at 28 inches at the shoulder, a little over two feet tall. He is around three feet from the tip of his muzzle to the tip of his leaf-like tail.
Weight:
The weight of this energetic tracker is unknown, as he will not stay put long enough for his vet to weigh him.

Personality:

One word cannot be used to sum up this tracker, however hyper comes rather close. This endearing male is almost always in motion in some way or another, usually finding ways to annoy those around him. When he's not in motion, Jarrahdale can be found sleeping somewhere to build up more energy. The best way to handle this hyperactivity is to give him an acceptable outlet for all of this energy. This can be a long run twice a day, or a treadmill.
Jarrahdale is an alert, affectionate and curious companion. He is very cheerful and is devoted to his partner, almost to a fault. He is very spirited and obedient, but absolutely fearless, something that his partner must work to control everyday. Despite this, he adores human companionship, as long as he is very familiar with the person. With strangers Jarrahdale is reserved and quiet, and many times, shy. It takes him a long time to trust, however once he does trust someone he would give his life to save theirs as they become part of his pack. He is incredibly protective of members of this ‘pack’, so rough play around him is definitely not encouraged.
With his partner, Marsh, Jarrahdale is the perfect dog. He is perfectly obedient and loving and friendly, mainly because he absolutely adores the man. In Jarrahdale’s eyes, Marsh can do no wrong. He is perfect in every way, and his word is law. He hates disappointing him, and will often make himself look pitiful when he is being reprimanded for doing something wrong. However, when he is praised, Jarrahdale is one of the happiest dogs most have ever seen. He is the most protective of Marsh, often coming to the point of snapping at those who get too close. However, he will relax with one command from ‘his person.’
Jarrahdale is incredibly intelligent, a fact that tends to get him into trouble on occasion. If he is given an inch, he will do his best to take a mile, becoming very willful and demanding. Because of this, Jarrahdale functions best when he has clear rules to follow, and limitations on what he is and is not permitted to do. His intelligence also leads to issues when he is bored, as he will find ways to amuse himself. This is usually by scaring people to the point that they do not want to return, which means he is usually given some type of toy to amuse himself with.
Because of his intelligence, Jarrahdale knows he isn’t like other dogs. He knows his markings are different, and that most dogs do not glow. Because of this, he is a bit vain, and he takes pride in keeping himself clean. When he is around other canines, Jarrahdale carries his head higher than normal and seems to prance around them, showing off his bright colors and glowing orange face. He loves hearing the praises from the owners of other dogs at the dog park, and has gotten quite good at ignoring the negative comments.
Also because of his intelligence, Jarrahdale is easier bored by things that would be sufficient to amuse another dog. Normal toys will bore him in a matter of minutes, including Kong toys. Because of this, he should be given puzzle type toys, or other toys to work his mind in one way or another.
Despite his vanity, Jarrahdale is still a sweet dog, although he should not be left alone with non-canine animals. His prey drive is extremely high, and he will not hesitate to kill a small animal if he can catch it. This sometimes includes smaller dogs, so it is best to keep him leashed around them. Because of his high prey drive, Jarrahdale will get distracted by small creatures running around. Actually, he is easily distracted to begin with. It takes a lot of time to teach him to do a simple command because the slightest thing will distract him, such as a running leaf.
Jarrahdale's absolute favorite thing to do is visit a pumpkin patch, any pumpkin patch. He loves the large, round gourds and will do just about anything to be able to see them, play with them and eat them. He loves the scent and taste of pumpkins, which means he does have a tendency of tearing them open to get at the flesh inside, no matter where they are or if Marsh paid for them or not. He also gets a bit snappy over pumpkins, often lunging at even Marsh if he gets too close. His second most favorite thing to do is hide among the larger pumpkins, staying absolutely still. He knows his face resembles a pumpkin, and he will remain motionless until the last second when someone reaches for him. At that moment, he will move or bark, usually sending the person flying back in a state of panic, which absolutely amuses him.
Care:
Dental:
Jarrahdale's teeth should be brushed once daily with a soft bristled brush and dog toothpaste. Great care should be taken during this process as he does not enjoy having hands in his mouth.
Coat:
Jarrahdale's coat is very easy to care for, as he takes care of it himself. He requires a weekly brushing with a shedding comb to remove lose hair and dirt, followed by a brisk brushing with a soft bristled brush to bring out the shine in his coat. He should not be bathed too often, as his skin has a tendency to dry out from the shampoo. When he is bathed, an oatmeal based formula should be used.
Vet Care:
Jarrahdale should be checked by a vet every two weeks during times of daily training, just to be sure his body is still holding up to the stress. During times of rest, his schedule will be like a normal canines, or at the discretion of the veterinarian.
A Day in The Life:
Nature's first green is gold,
Her hardest hue to hold,
Her early leaf's a flower;
But only so an hour.
Then leaf subsides to leaf.
So Eden sank to grief,
So dawn goes down to day.
Nothing gold can stay.
-Robert Frost

The excitement in the air was tangible as families filed in and out of the large pumpkin patch. Good-natured ribbing and laughter filled the chilly air, making the general atmosphere a happy one. Hidden among the many pumpkins lay an odd looking dog-like creature. His face looked like a goofy Jack-o-Lantern with a leafy frond at the top and it had a slight glow to it, a glow that was constantly fluctuating in intensity. The excitement coursing through him was heady, and anticipation filled him. He'd finally get to scare some more people this year! His leafy tail wagged furiously for a few seconds before becoming perfectly motionless once more. Suddenly his ears perked up and he stared intently down the path. Were those....footsteps? In one smooth motion, the tracker let his head hit the ground and he dimmed his glow to the point it was non-existant. His dark green body blended into the ground, leaving him there looking like a pre-carved pumpkin. This was all part of the plan.
It was hard to stay still, but somehow the hyper dog managed it as a tall man dressed in black reached for his head. The second before contact was made, Jarrahdale, the tracker, came to life in a flurry of motion, the glow of his face increasing to its max. The man let out a screech and stumbled backwards, his booted foot crashing into a pumpkin and breaking it open as he turned and ran. Jarrahdale's tail wagged furiously as he settled in and began to eat the crushed pumpkin. It wasn't that he was a mean spirit. This method was simply easier than most to get at the flesh of his favorite treat: pumpkin!
His heart pounded a million miles an hour, but the fear didn't stop him as he crept back to the spot he'd just run from. Curiosity was always stronger than fear for the adventurer, and he very much wanted to know what the thing that had chased him away had been. Once he got close enough to see the orange glow emitting from the tracker, he dropped down and army crawled through the pumpkins and vines until he was close enough to see the creature that had given him a near heart attack. He had to fight laughter as he saw it, covered in pumpkin flesh with juice dripping from its chin. Its leafy tail wagged wildly as it ate, and the watching man couldn't help but think that this had been the goal all along. Within moments, the pumpkin was gone and the odd colored canine was standing half hidden in the pumpkins again, seemingly waiting for something. Suddenly it perked its ears and turned to look in the direction where the observer was laying, so he decided to stand up. Putting his hands on his hips, he playfully glared at the dog. "It's not nice to scare people."
Surprise flooded the oddly colored tracker dog as he studied the human staring at him. Why wasn't he running and screaming like they always did? He let one ear twitch as his mind raced. "It's not nice to scare people." Not nice? It wasn't nice, but it was fun and it got him pumpkins. In response, he lifted a shoulder and let it drop in a canine shrug. Oh well if he scared people. This person was lucky he hadn't been chased. After studying the man for a few more seconds, the tracker turned away and trotted deeper into the patch. Standing still wasn't on his agenda, no sir. It never was, as there was way too much energy coursing through the canine's body. Too....much....energy. His muscles felt like they were filled with crawling bugs, making him restless and many would say hyper. With a soft snort, he kept walking in large, almost lazy circles around the south end of the pumpkin patch. Suddenly more voices filled the air and the tracker froze, one paw held motionless in the air. His ears tilted forward and excitement flooded through him. Maybe he could scare them into running, so he could chase them! His tail began to wag for a few seconds before he hid himself once more.
