I am looking to adopt give complete and utter love and adoration to...
Kennel number: P150
Name: Junior, or Jr.
Age:About three, maybe four and a half at most.
Birthday:Unknown; No one is sure, and since his parents are gone, they will never find out.
Breed: Panda Mutt
Why do you want this animal? Junior caught my eye, and my heart instantly. I have always joked around with my family about how I wanted a pet panda, but I think that Junior made that joke a reality. And a story began brewing instantly, I just had to write it out. His design was just… Stunning. It mesmerized me, and it took me a few minutes to take my eyes away from him. His child-like eyes ‘looked’ into mine and I knew that he was the one for me. His design is beautiful, subtle, slightly loud, and the colors go together perfectly. He really is a special boy. I had always had this idea for a story, and his design... Just
him in general, is the perfect boy to write this story.
Also, I think that perfect is way overrated. It is often a bad thing to have even the slightest thing wrong with you. Junior shows that it is ok to have something wrong with you physically, it doesn't determine who you are, or what you do with your life. I think of this as something that earns someone respect, and this is one of the many reasons I really love this boy. <3
And what will you do for it?: Art. Art is definitely a must, I really have never tried to draw pandas before, but I think that I ought to give it a try, for Junior. Commissioned art is not going to be left out of the question, and I would not care for the cost, rather the quality of the art. And poems, many poems. As that is what I tend to write most. And if the time ever comes where I feel the urge to write a story, I’m pretty sure that he will be in it as well. He will also be put into my work in progress character site once it's up and running!
Personality:.: Scared :.
No matter what he does, he always acts slightly afraid of everyone he meets. He doesn’t mean to, it’s just an instinct, his childhood probably was a big factor in this reasoning. The creature who attacked him at first was a big reason for this, for he is always wary of things in the shadows over his shoulders and such. Sometimes he doesn't even know that they show, it is subconcious many times. He doesn't really feel scared, but he is scared on the inside all the same. He doesn’t understand these feelings, but they are there, and they will not go.
.: Brave :.
Whenever he sees someone in trouble he has to go help them. He can’t just sit back and watch it unfold before him. He feels overly guilty when he does nothing, for he does not want others to feel the same pain and weakness he felt when he was attacked. He is willing to put his life on the line for others, whether he knows them or not, it doesn't matter to him. For we are all the same inside.
.: Goofy :.
He is always trying to put a grin on someone’s face. He tries to be as light-hearted as he can, but always he tends to be slightly pained. He loves pulling pranks on others, making sure the person the joke is being played on understands that it is only a joke. And that they find it funny as well. He really does love smiling, that's one thing you learn about him as you get to know him.
.: Loyal :.
He will never abandon a friend in need. Or in any case, anyone in need. He is always at your side trying to help in any way he can. He has learned the hard way that you need someone to stick by you to be successful at anything. He trys to stand tall and proud no matter what he does, and when he is standing beside someone, someone who needs him, he feels stronger than he knows he really is.
.: Humble :.
He doesn’t like to gloat or boast about anything. Not his achievements, not his strengths, not anything. He believes that it hurts others, and it makes people think down upon you, because you are seen as a self-indulged person, and that is one of the last things he wants to be seen as.
.: Destiny-Driven :.
Junior believes that at the end of everything, there must be something that he is working towards. He never ceases to believe that, even in the hardest of times. He believes in destiny, that there is something waiting for him, waiting there for him to grasp, but he never seems to come close enough to grab hold of it.
.: Un-trusting :.
He believes that trust needs to be earned, so no matter who you are, no matter what you do, you have to work to gain his trust. You have to show him that you are indeed worthy of his trust. He dishes out a small bit of trust at first, to see how much you can handle, but he never gives all of his trust out all at once. He believes you need to work for it, you need to prove yourself.
.: Friendly :.
He will never turn down a convesation, although he doesn't exactly go looking for them. Although he would never admit it fully, he enjoys the company of others, talking makes him feel good, like someone cares. Which is what he often needs to be reminded of, which is something that his friends have learned, whether the hard way or not.
Likes: Running: it makes him feel free from the pain of his past. It reminds him that he can always rely on his speed to get him out of severe problems, like the ones he experienced as a youngling.
Playing jokes: For it hides his pain and sorrow.
Sunglasses: For he thinks they look stylish, but they also hold the slight tinge of fear that is always in his eyes. One other thing they do for him is they block the sun from destroying his vision, which he couldn't imagine a world without.
Gelling his hair: He loves it, he can make it go anyway he wants, mold it to hold any shape. He just wishes that he could do this with life as well, because it isn’t always that easy.
Bugs: They always listen when you want to talk to them, and they bug the people who are bugging you, whenever you need them to. And the humming (buzzing) noise they make calms him down when he is upset.
Lollipops: He loves them because they take him back to the first few days of his life, before his father died and his mother ran away. They give him the sweet taste that reminds him of what having a complete family is like.
Wind: It seems to blow away all of the pain of the past, and then bring in a new air of goodness and joy. He always feels better about himself and the world when the wind blows.
Dislikes: Being underestimated: Ever since the death of his friend, and the attack, he has always hated being underestimated for his speed, stamina, or strength.
Being in the same spot for too long: He developed this trait as time wore on, he could never seem to calm himself down to sit in one place for long enough, and he has trouble focusing unless it is something that he is completely and utterly fascinated in. (He has ADHD)
Bullies: They remind him of the creature that tried to kill him when he was hardly four months old.
Pain: He has experienced far too much of it. This has also made it so that he dislikes when others feel pain as well.
Greed: When you have more than enough of something, you should help others who have less, you shouldn’t hog it all to yourself. You should help those who need help, not just ignore them like they aren't there.
Hats of any sort: They cover up his hair (mane), which he is very proud of.
Fears:Blood: It is very scary thing, for it shows that one has been injured in a more severe manner.
Death: After what happened to his childhood friend, he fears death openly, and if you ask him he will most definetely tell you that he is afraid of it.
Mistakes: They bring about the downfall of people. The reason he thinks about it like this is because of his mother, and childhood friend, both where lost.
Love: He is afraid to really let someone back into his life, after his only friend and parents both disappeared (died) he is scared to love someone, for fear that they might be lost again.
History/Background: ProlougeShe only made one mistake. The mistake that begins this story. She fell for an outsider and was caught. Now she must suffer the consequences.The female panda stood before a group of others like her, the leader of their tribe, Jon, at the center. He had no compassion in his eyes, and the female shook at the sight of him. "Where did you hide him?" he asked harshly. "W-where did I hide who?" and she plastered an innocent smile on her face.
Jon did not buy it, and he was right not to. "You bred with a male outside of this tribe, which in itself is an offense. But what is worse is that he was not a panda!" he snarled at her. She only widened her eyes in fear, "I did nothing!" she said cried, innocently. Jon was trying to make her crack, but it wasn't going to happen. She had to protect her son and her mate.
Jon looked at her up and down, and when he seemed to believe her he said, "Alright, you are free to go. " she nodded, "Thank you, thank you!" and then she gave each of the 'jury' a nod. The two body-guards that stood beside Jon were looking at her oddly, they were big beasts with razor sharp claws. They were not pandas, they were strange creatures, that were often sent out on missions that included, 'violence' of some sort. Everyone feared them, probably even fear itself.
She bounded away, not looking back. Jon signalled for the two creatures to follow him silently, and they followed her to a clearing. She checked over her shoulder once warily, but the three were well concealed in the brush. She shrugged off her funny feeling and went down a narrow path, leading to her son. The creature on the right hissed out quietly, "You know ssshe isss guilty! Let ussss kill her now!" but Jon simply shook his head. "We shall follow her, and then she will lead us right to her child, and her mate. The creature nodded, and growled quietly.
The female turned a corner sharply and descended into a cave. Her pawsteps echoed against the walls, and the faint wails of a baby, probably one to two months old, could be heard. She proceeded to progess into the cave, until she came upon a big room. There was a small tunnel on the other side that was visible, and in the center of the clearing was a male fox rocking a baby back and forth. He looked up and smiled when he saw his mate, but his smile was instantly gone when he saw who was behind her.
They stepped out of the darkness and Jon smirked, "Well... Well... Well, look who we found here. The traitor caught red-handed, with the whole family!" the female stuttered, "I-I can explain." "No need. Kill them now, I want all three of them dead!" and the creatures lunged at them. She screamed and kicked one, then scooped up the baby and ran through the tunnel, closely followed by the fox. The female looked at the fox, handed him their baby, said, "I love you." then bounded away, tears glistening in her eyes. And so they parted ways.
Time.
An unforgiving lapse
A never-ending circle
To those who know and to those who don’t,
Beware
It is indeed a mischievious thing
For it plays tricks on your mind,
And your soulThe young female panda’s breathing came in shallow gasps. She looked over her shoulder- something was there. She ran through the night fearfully, checking over her shoulder every-so-often. She finally saw something ahead, a fire.
The fire was burning deep in the night, and her eyes became narrow as she headed for this spot. The realization came soon that there was a connection between those coming for her, and those who were up ahead, but they couldn’t be the same, could they?
She shook her head and turned slightly, veering off of her original course. She pressed deep into the night, effortlessly running. She did not understand where this sudden energy came from, but it might as well be her savior, so she did not question herself.
The pain of years
Often comes down to a single moment
Which spreads out
And destroys;
Everything in it’s pathTime went fast, blowing through the night in the form of nothing more than a slight breeze. Although the female did not notice it, it was going to be the downfall of her.
She continued, but soon came upon the same fire that she had left behind all those hours before. She was puzzled by this, but she thought nothing of it, until she came upon it the third time. Her energy was beginning to fail. The energy that had supplied her all those hours- was gone now.
She dragged her feet until she could no longer. She collapsed to the ground right near the blazing fire. A shadow of the night came up to her, a male most probably, and then her world collapsed, as her body gave in to fatigue. She had one last thought before fatigue overtook her mind as well,
Even if I die now, my son will be ok. He will... "Hello Jewelssss, you're coming with ussss." She trembled at the voice, for it was a 'creature'. His figure was the last thing she saw before her world went dark, for the last time.
~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~~
The day that the past caught up with me,
Once again
Was the horror
Of my worst nightmaresThe young panda scurried away from his playmate. The two were becoming farther away from the camp than they ever had before. They squealed in pleasure as they tackled each other and the younger panda landed on top of the other. The older one rolled on top of the smaller one, and they both giggled happily.
Then the youngest of them noticed a silhouette flitting across the ground a few yards away. He turned his head and pointed it out to his friend. His friend nodded and trotted across the clearing to the bush where the mysterious being was. The small one looked at him and nodded encouragingly.
His friend turned and walked towards the brush. The youngest gave him a smile; he didn’t think that anything could happen, I mean, they were safe here. This was his first mistake.
As the young creature’s paws hit the earth,
For the final time
A whisper escaped his dry mouth
“Goodbye”"DADDY! DADDY!" he cried, his friend was dead. And he ran away from the scene, the creatures in hot pursuit. He found his father sitting by a rock. When he saw his son like this, he knew instantly what was going on. He said, "Run." and they both ran, or so the baby thought. When he finally looked over his shoulder to look at his father, his father wasn't there. He heard a cry of pain, and he knew that his father had given up his life, for him. He ran forward, knowing his father would not want him to look back. So he didn't.
I age
I grow
But I never seem to out-grow
These creatures,
These demons
Coming after meHe had grown much more endurance than before, but due to the stress put upon him, he had not grown properly. He still looked like a young child, although he was close to nine months now.
The panda’s feet hit the ground rhythmically as he raced through the woods. His eyes darted from side to side, but his overall stance never wavered. His pelt got caught on a branch, but his running did not cease, for he could feel no pain anymore. His tongue lolled out the side of his mouth, but he hardly panted.
He suddenly turned to the right, and his pursuers were caught off guard, forced to scramble to regain their footing as he raced away. He did not look back. His pursuers tried to catch him, but they were no match for this young panda's stamina, and speed.
Only then did he let himself look back and his friend was no longer behind him. He had been taken at the start. He turned to see that there was no one there, and he relaxed slightly. The bush beside him rustled, louder than it should have, but he did not see anything, so he disregarded it. This was the second mistake of his life.
The problems that come
Come like never wavering waves
One after another
They present themselves to us
Never leaving
Always stayingThe creature in the bushes pounced upon this youngling. It clawed at his face vigorously, with razor-sharp claws. It wouldn’t stop until the young panda stumbled backwards, hitting his head on a solid oak log. He yowled in pain and growled his childish growl at the creature.
It was about a foot taller than him. It had a shining silver pelt, and its eyes were a deep blood-red. Its fangs dripped with the panda's blood, and its eyes seemed hungry for more. He whimpered and backed away from the monster.
The creature lunged at him, and he was terrified, so he did what any young one would do, run. He ran, adrenaline pumping in his veins, driving him on. A dense cloud of fog apeared ahead. It engulfed the young creature, making it impossible for the creature to see and follow him.
In fairy tales
Happy endings are a must
Well, this isn’t a fairy tale
And the ending isn’t all happy
For the story does not finish hereHe staggered through the woods as the light slowly faded into dusk, and beautiful colors graced the sky before disappearing beneath the horizon line. He managed the stay on his feet, but slowly giving in to exhaustion. He wouldn’t give up just yet. Just then he saw a small firefly come up beside him, he turned his head at it questioningly, his breath was coming in short pants now. The bug seemed to give him a nod and flew up ahead, as if showing him the way to something. He followed without hesitation.
He followed the bug, until he finally reached a small campsite. He saw others like him ahead. A twig crunched under his foot, the sharp end piercing through the soles of his paws, causing him to wince, and a thin trickle of blood to come out and onto the ground.
Although he didn’t trust them, he needed a place to rest. A place to get away from those chasing him.
He reached the edge of the camp, and his knees started shaking from overexhaustion. He fell to the ground, the sticky blood clinging to the side of his face, then dripping down and creating a red pool in front of him.
An older creature rushed up to him the moment she saw him. She gasped, and she asked him softly, “What’s your name, young one?” the panda's mouth opened, then weakly the word came out “Junior.” Then his world went black.
Life is done
Life is over
I have no hope
So I cryWhen Junior awoke he was laying on a bed of palm fronds. There was no one around him, but he could sense eyes on him every way he looked. He didn’t care anymore. He cried. For his mother, for the father he had never known, for himself, for his friend. But he soon realized that his tears where also for something else, something that he couldn't figure out.
Then a voice sounded in his mind, ringing pure and confidently,
You’re a very special boy, Junior. You were born from pain, into pain. From mistakes, to mistakes. But still you see light in the darkest places. Yesterday is the past, and today is a new day. These words helped him figure out what else he was crying for.
He was crying out of joy that he had lived. A slight smile managed to find it's way to his mouth as he thought about the light. There was hope for tomorrow. It wasn't the end.
To this day, he still cannot figure out whether that voice that set him on the right track was his, or his someone else's.
He looked over to the side and saw the firefly from the night before. "Thank you," he said and bowed his head. Then he saw a small tube of some sort, he put his paw on it, and a liquid gel came out. He smiled, thinking he knew what to do with this, he molded his hair to the side, the same way he wished he could mold his life.
But for now, his hair will have to do.
