Kavga felt the suffocating cloth drop from around his neck. He collapsed to the ground, panting, his fury subsiding with each breath. He pushed himself to his feet, noting that, as he moved, the female edged a little further away, wincing as if in pain.

"Why fight us when you could just as easily go off on your own?"

Kavga looked up. The human female was staring at him, the question hanging in the air. She was obviously looking for him to answer. He could have easily ignored her and moved on. After all, there were others waiting to fight.

But the question intrigued him.

"You have fought to prove yourself," Kavga responded, choosing his words carefully. "I have fought to learn. I did not want to leave until I was sure I could find someone who could teach me."

He sat on his haunches and bowed his head respectfully. "You fight quite intelligently. I would be honored to learn from you."

Harper had been quite sure that the strange creature would answer. It wasn't often that people ignored her questions, even if they were people of greater strength or situational standing. She was just one of those people you didn't ignore. But what she had expected was for him to answer in some crude tone, yelling on about how he was only going with some pathetic being because he would need some sort of target to practice on. Okay, so that was a little far fetched, but hey: Harper had a colorful imagination. She needed to be creative, to be willing to try new things that didn't seem like they would work at all. She hadn't figured he would ever come to her, choose to follow her to this new life he was searching for. One she still didn't understand. But there he was, defying her conceptions on the situation. She had only been able to beat him because of her mind. If he had really just gone on like a mad animal when he started, she would totally be dead by now. Okay maybe not dead, but most definitely not able to move for some time. Giant cat creatures could do that to you. Didn't anyone ever tell that people didn't often walk away from a lion fight alive? And this wasn't just some lion, it was a huge beast of a cat with horns! And she had not been able to beat him, not really. And it had been pretty difficult, as compared to how easily the others had ended the fight. The second had seemed so strong, so sure that the strange cat would follow him. In fact, she had been pretty sure that the man was right. Unless her theory had been right...

What this brute wanted wasn't more muscle mass; it was technique. He wanted to learn. And he wanted to learn from her. He must have been crazy. It was strange concept to grasp for her, since she knew how bad of a teacher she was... Really, the only reason she gave up her dream job of teaching was because she was rather brutal to younger people. They... Annoyed her to a degree far beyond insanity, to the point of snapping and whacking them out of their little desks. But hey, maybe that would be different when it was someone hwo actually wanted to learn. And could take a hit without having her perminantly removed from the building. She shifted a little uneasily, uncrossing her arms as she stared back in silence at the large tattooed cat. He didn't look like he was joking... In fact, he looked rather like some of the older men in their motley crew who had come to see her as an equal instead of the waste that many of the younger ones did.

She should decline. What on earth did she know about teaching animals to fight? It wasn't like she got on all fours and fought the neighborhood strays. Though... Though she did know more than anyone should about the most effective places to attack: How to spot weak points from the way they walked, how to find the best places to lay brutal attacks. She could teach that, could teach how to see those things and to figure the next best move. Yeah, that she was pretty good at. "My house is a wreck," She decided to say, instead of any of the many other eloquent things she could have said. But hey, Harper was no elegant young lady. "And you will have to deal with a moody house cat and very questionable co-workers." There was a huge upside! Seeing their face when this behemoth walked across the front yard and into the house. "But if you can live with that, and still want to learn, then I'll do my best to teach you what I know. If you will also teach me what you know." She decided to add. "An equal exchance of information."

Dextelle watched the Ahzen leave with Nikki, as they passed Dextelle wished them luck and congratulated them, "Well fought, Bye! Come back soon!" she felt happy for the new pals.
"So the prank didn't work..." Dani said awkwardly,
"I guess not." they looked at each other and burst out laughing!
"Did you see?" Dextelle asked giggling, "and his face!"
"Hahahaha!" the both laughed. Tears running down their cheeks. Tears of laughter.

A young girl didn't hear her own footsteps as she walked calmly into the towering cave of Ahzen. Her light auburn hair, straight and chest-lengthed, bobbed slightly in the gentle breeze that came from the wonderous outside world, unknown by those who choose to stay in this cave of Ahzen. Her name was Isabella Angel Sweden, though she was known by most as Isabella. Although her whole community knew her very well, Isabella knew that she was, in fact, very unknown. You see, young Isabella is a smart girl. She knows that billions of people are walking all around the world right know, and a mere fraction of them have the slightest idea of her existence.

Isabella liked the thought of this; billions of people not fretting over her like a bunch of crazed baboons. Those crazed baboons - her parents, siblings, friends; heck, even her whole town - were exactly the reason she ran away. She needed peace. Quiet, she already had - but not peace. Far from it, to be honest. Though her family and friends were trying to make life easier by extensively caring for her, this had actually made it more stressful.

Isabella had heard of Ahzen in her Social Studies class. She read of a wonderful place that held creatures too magnificent for most humans to be in the presence of. Ahzenai. Her conscious played that word back over and over. When she had gotten sick of her family fretting over her, Isabella decided to come here.

Now, she stood in the glorious, arching cave-mouth that was the entrance to Ahzen. There were more people here than she expected, yet it was silent throughout the cave. But still, this was expected. Isabella's eyes darted around the cave, taking in all the small little detials she could find. People's body language, how their mouths moved they were talking, their expressions -- much more information than the average human would gather from a glance around the cave. All of this information was necessary if she was to survive on her own. Why?

Isabella was deaf.

She was born with 0% hearing in her left ear, 6% hearing in her right. She lost that last 6% as she grew up into the 14 year old she is today. She can sign American Sign Language fluently, but half the time people can't even understand her hands. This easily frustrated her, and the fact that her mother had to translate everything she said bothered her to an extent where she almst couldn't bear it. She didn't want to have a translator with her her entire life. She never wanted this to happen, and she doesn't understand why it had to be her that was deaf.

And yet, despite all her dreaming and wishing, Isabella, was indeed still deaf. She stood in the cave of Ahzen now, baby blue eyes taking in more information than ever.

Vimocidas and Tasu watched the vortex swirling around in swirls of dull gold, pink, purple, and brown. I sighed and waited for an Ahzenai to finally appear out of the vortex. Finally, a gorgeous Ahzenai stepped out of the vortex. I sucked in my breath. She was beautiful, and I felt an instant connection.
“Quida.” Valcyon said quietly.
Quida blinked at Valcyon and turned around. “All of you. If you would like me as a companion...bring me something from this world that smells beautiful.” She sat at the cave entrance.
"Quick, Tasu," I muttered. "Get something that smells nice."
Tasu sniffed. "Me?" she asked.
"Yes, you!" I pushed her gently up to her feet. "It's not that hard."
"Fine," she said. "I'll go." She pushed through the crowd of people to get outside. Vimocidas pawed the ground.
"I do hope she's fast," he murmered softly.
We both sighed and watched Quida get approached by other suitors. Minutes later, Tasu appeared again, clutching a mouthful of pine needles. She dropped them into my hand.
"Is this good enough?" She asked.
I sniffed the pine needles and nodded. "Perfect, thank you."
Tasu shrugged, mollified.
I looked down at Tasu. "Why don't you try to woo her?"
Tasu sat up with a start. "No way! You saw how well Vimocidas' attempt worked out."
Out of the corner of my eye, I saw Vimocidas shuffle uncomfortably. "Don't say that," I muttered. "And at least come with me, won't you?"
"Fine," Tasu shrugged. "I suppose I will."
I stood up and began to approach Quida. "Hello, Quida," I said, nodding my head. "It is an honor to meet you. My name is Tessa and this is Tasu."
Tasu nodded her head. "My pleasure," she murmered.
I smirked. Tasu could be a jerk at times, but she was really good with other Ahzenai, Vimocidas excluded. "We're here to see if you'd like to join us," I told her. I took the pine needles out of my pocket and placed them in front of Quida. "These are pine needles, from a pine tree. I hope they smell as nice to you as they do to us," I smiled.
"We'd love to have you join us," Tasu said. "We have another companion, too, named Vimocidas."
I looked over my shoulder and beckoned Vimocidas over. He padded towards us and sat down in front of Quida. "Hello, Quida." he said gently. "I am Vimocidas, and I would be just as happy as my companions if you chose to join us." He smiled. "I remember when I was choosing my companion," he said softly. He turned back to Quida. "Whichever decision you make, I know you'll be happy."
"Good luck, Quida," I called. "Oh, and keep the pine needles as a gift, even if you choose not to come with us."
"Unless you don't like the smell," Tasu put in.
The three of us made our final points to Quida, then headed back to our rock to await her decision, hoping she'd join us.
