Guess who went to the dance with A?
This gal right here! I was talking to him about how another guy asked me and how I might say yes and A said, and I quote, "Well save a dance for me." I outright told him that that was one of the sweetest things I've ever heard. After that, he asked me to the dance. I said yes, and he said that he couldn't wait to slow dance with me. This was the night before school. After school that day, he insisted on walking me home. He even went right by his house, which is very close to the school, just to walk me home the whole way!
So I was all excited because I knew that they were going to play a lot of slow songs at the dance. When I got to the dance, I was looking around for A, because he said he'd meet me there. I saw him, and I was walking toward him, and I turned around for one second to say something to my friend, and when I turned back to where he was, he was gone. The whole night ended up really sucking. Why? Because A went out of his way to AVOID me the whole time! Whenever the slow songs came on, I ended up dancing with the really sweet guy - who has a huge crush on me - who I was going to go with in the first place. A wouldn't even talk to me let alone actually get near me or dance with me!
I was a mix of sad and angry. My best friend asked him why he was avoiding me and he said that he doesn't slow dance. However, I see him on the next slow song slow dancing all awkwardly with some other girl! I was on the verge of tears, ready to go over there and give him a peace of my mind, when he came over to where I was sitting and sat right beside me. He said that he was sorry for not dancing with me and that he thought that if he avoided me he wouldn't have to. He said that he wanted to dance with me, and that when he saw me dancing with the other guy, he was jealous. He said that the only reason he wouldn't dance with me is because he's a terrible slow dancer and he didn't want to embarass himself because he was afraid I wouldn't like him if he stepped on my feet or something.
After that, I wasn't sad or angry anymore. I just found it so cute and sweet that he was afraid that I wouldn't like him because he was a bad dancer. There was only one slow song left, and he said that he'd dance with me if I promised not to hate him after. Though when I saw him, he was dancing with some other girl. I was dancing with the guy I was going to go with right beside him, and when I got close to him, he whispered that he was sorry but he had promised her at least one dance.
Well, the night was really fun, even though I was in a bad mood during 80% of it, but hearing him say that and how sweetly and shyly he said it - him being not shy in the least - made it 100% better, even though I didn't get to dance with him.
