The young Liocko shivered violently under the large tree, rain dripping from her pelt. She'd been separated from her parents and littermates two weeks ago, and had been trying to live on her own ever since. However, things were not going the way she'd hoped they would. Her ribs were showing through her pelt, she was cold and hungry, and tired of being alone. Sighing, she shook the water off of her pelt once more and got to her paws. Sitting here complaining would do no good. She needed food. She stepped back into the rain, narrowing her eyes against the stinging droplets. She knew prey would be bedded down against the rain right now, and she knew exactly where to find something to feed herself. Flexing her claws, the cat-like creature lowered her body to the ground and stalked forward. She knew there was a rabbit hole around here somewhere, she just needed to find it. Suddenly the scent of warm rabbit flooded her muzzle, strong even over the scent of rain. Perking her ears forward, the Liocko sidled up to the edge of the dark hole in the ground, following the thickening scent of rabbit. Crouching at the entrance, she unsheathed her claws and suddenly she struck, sinking them into the fur of a large male rabbit. Quickly pulling it up, Savannah killed it and devoured it, enjoying the weight in her stomach. That done, she moved on, ignoring the cold water running down her back. Suddenly the scent of humans reached her and she crept forward, knowing instinctively to remain hidden.
Humans will mean food... Turning towards the scent, she made her way closer, making sure to keep herself hidden. She narrowed her eyes as she spotted an overflowing trash can. The scents coming from the metal drum were intoxicating and the cat-like creature crept closer, keeping her other senses open for signs of humans. Quickly knocking the can open, she dove into it, devouring the food humans had simply tossed out without thinking.
Humans are so wasteful. She shook her head in disgust, then froze as a low growl filled the air behind her. The young Liocko spun around to see a snarling and bristling dog standing there, eyes on her.
"Who are you, and why are you here?!" The dog's voice was angry, and Savannah stood, shocked into silence.
How am I going to get out of this one?
