My eyes were immediately drawn towards the lone Hound hunched in silence, scrutinising those scattered around the large entrance hall. Perhaps it was the stunning pattern that seemed to splatter across her coat, or maybe the deeply secretive look etched across her face; but either way, I felt as if this was the companion I had been searching so long for.
I wasn't quite sure how to approach a Hound such as Eleniel; her manner seemed to show an indifference towards humans, as though they were not worth her attention. Around me, others were taking tentative steps towards the Hound they had taken a liking to. Deciding I had better get a move on, I took a few shuffling steps towards her. I couldn't be sure, but I thought she may have looked up ever so slightly. Wondering whether this was a bad sign, I straightened my neck, and walked calmly over; I did not want to appear afraid.
Just a metre away now, I realised with great discomfort that I had not brought any kind of gift for Eleniel, as many other humans had done so. Then again, taking another look at Eleniel, I wondered whether she would have appreciated an old shoe. "No", I told myself, unless there was another personality beneath that haughty expression. I pondered this thought for the few seconds it took to close the gap between us, then I was snapped back to attention.
"Hello, Eleniel", I said, trying to put as much friendliness and strength into my words as I could muster. I wondered whether she found the thought of travelling interesting, and so I plunged on to tell her about my life. "I travel mostly, I've been all over the world, visiting the many wonders nature has to offer. I get to taste all sorts of different foods and meet lots of people, it's all very interesting. But lately, it's been getting, well..." I paused, "A little lonely I suppose. I travel alone you see, and I don't really want another human trailing around after me. I heard of this wonderful place, and I just thought that maybe I would see if I could find my companion here."
I looked up hopefully at Eleniel, wondering if I had made an impression at all. I hastily swung my bag from my back, and rummaged around, searching for a certain leather-bound book. The battered cover was stained, the edged bent and mashed while bits of paper stuck out the edges. Yet however grubby this little book appeared, it was without question my most precious belonging. I untied to neatly knotted string, and let the pages fall open. I held it close to Eleniel, and showed her the many photos, sketches and writing hidden within. "This is my book where I record everything I discover on my travels. Places I've been, the people I've met and so on. I like to sketch unusual plants and creatures I come across too." I rubbed my thumb across a photo depicting a memorable trip into an Egyptian pyramid. "These are the sort of places I visit a lot" I said, indicating the photos. "Everything goes into this book, you're welcome to take a look if you want.
I have one important question for you though." I turned to Face Eleniel, feeling a mounting suspense, "Will you join me on my travels?"

Eleniel stared deep into your eyes, seeming to search for something. "You've traveled to so many places," marveled the Hound, entranced by the sketches and photos. She looked back up at you, trying to decide whether to join you or not. Although she didn't want to leave her home she did want to follow you in your travels.
"I think I will join you," said Eleniel with a toothy grin. She stood up and shook out her short fur before sitting down at your side.

I eyes gazed right on that he-hound, being that beauty he is. Maybe it was that silvery splotters on his pelt or his striking purple eyes. It could be either of those two things, he was my choice as my hound companion. Nobody could replace such a darling young creature. Could Cirrus, the loveable hound, be mine?

I slowly padded up to him, while being careful not to trip. I then began to greet him. "Howdy little critter, you're quite the fiesty one. You sure are a cool critter to be with, and you'd be the star of the party, that's for sure. Wish to come with me?", I said. I then put down a ragged, dusty sock for him to drag whenever he pleased.

"I travel to different lands, to different places, and it's hard getting used to it, mainlydue to seeing so many new faces. Perhaps you can cheer the grumpy, and make things easier?", I continued. It sure looked like that he would be more interested in playing in a large wide area than go to crowded lands/

"However, there's lots of spots for you to run and play. Whenever its a green field or a large park filled with toys and squirrels to chase, it might suit you. Surely you couldn't pass that up, couldn't you?', I said as I stopped for a momment. I thought that he would most certainly join me, but it was his choice.

"If you wish to join me on my tough adventures, largre expeditions, or a simple walk to the park, then just say so, it isn't really hard to say it.", I finished. I stroked his soft fur, which felt quite soft. I slowly backed up, for I waited for the Hound's response.

Cirrus wagged his tail furiously, gazing up at the human. His purple eyes widened at the mention of fields and parks with toys and squirrels. The little hound sat down to listen to the human speak, reaching his paw slowly toward the sock. "I could help keep your mood light when you travel," exclaimed Cirrus. His long tail thumped against the cold stone floor and he nodded, "Oh yes, I'll join you! I'd love it so much, you can't even believe how happy I am, and..." The hound's voice trailed off as he gave his new companion a slobbery lick and bounded toward the door, "Well, come on then!"

"Rinion," Locien announces from his place by the wall.

The large white hound studies his surroundings closely and huffs,
taking no notice to the humans near him. He didn't really
want a companion and certainly not a human, he didn't like them very
much, but thought that maybe if he got to know one he'd consider
leaving.
"I wonder who will try and take me with them," he mumbled in his
gravelly voice, glancing at the other hounds.

Chance of leaving- 40%

Nix watched the hounds with curiosity, observing their behavior and drawing it all down on a sketch book she held with the occasional written note.
"Rinion" She heard Locien announce. Her eyes lifted curiously from the page and her breath was taken away at his amazing appearance. She studied him for a moment, letting him have his space all while sketching on her book. He seemed to be more of a loner than the others, her pencil stopped scratching on the page for a moment as she realized this, Like me she whisperd to herself, continuing on the sketch with renewed enthusiasm.
The scratching of pencils on paper was all that could be heard for a while,
"Tada!" She announced happily throwing down her pencil and getting up. She looked at the Mage Hound and was suddenly slightly nervous. She watched the defiant tilt of his head and mirrored it, she was too proud to show anything less than than the majestic calm he gave off,
"Rinion. My name is Nix. I just wanted to say that, you have amazing colours and that symbol on your shoulder is intriguing. I drew a picture of you while I was observing" She told him half sheepishly, showing him the picture she drew:

Nix bit her lip slightly before going on,
"I can tell your brave. You won't let anyone tell you what to do and I like that. I am traveling a lot these days, I am seeing the world. But I must admit that not all the world is friendly. Fortunately I can protect myself but I need a companion to watch my back. So I ask you because it is your choice. Will you come with me?" She finished smiling kindly at Rinion, determination lighting up in her own blue grey eyes, she nodded to him once and moved back...

Her talk with Rinion had stirred forgotten memories within Nix's head, memories of an abandoned town where nothing stirred any more. A town that had been overrun by a rivaling neighbor. She reached into her bag and pulled out one of the only surviving items. A rough old teddy bear she had found lying alone in the street, after a moment Nix laid it by Rinion's paws, smiling sadly at him, wondering if he understood,
"That was my little brothers. I was the only one who got away" She said quietly nodding to him once more and after a moments hesitation reached out slowly and let her hand lightly stroke his shoulder before she stepped back once more,
"Please think about it" She asked humbly

[Vision.]

I stepped into the dark hallway, following a seemingly radioactive green light. As I grew nearer, I found it to be coming from a great white hound's paws. This must be the one they called Rinion. His red eyes slid open at my approach, daring me to continue. I stopped about an arms length from the great beast, gently extending a hand. "Hello." I whispered to him, stroking from beneath his jaw to his shoulder where I stopped, tracing the exotic, but somewhat familiar marking on his shoulder. It reminded me very much of an oriental dragon, for some reason.

I looked up from the strange mark to the hounds fiery red eyes. My eyes looked back at them, curious. Why was this hound so unfriendly compared to the others, who stayed together as a group? What had made him a loner? Or was it a personal choice? The hounds eyes seemed to see through mine, to the questions running through my mind. Rather than giving voice to them, I said simply "Rinion, why choose to stay here, holed up in this dark place? Would you not prefer the warmth of a home to call your own kingdom? Such a handsome, proud hound as you, and yet you hide here at the back, alone?" I continued looking at him, waiting for his reaction.
