I would like to adopt!
Number: 8
Picture: Image
Name: Dreamscape ("Dream" or "Dreamy")
Species: Mackenzie Valley Wolf
Personality: When Dream was first created(This won't make sense until you read the background section) she was the perfect companion for a small girl. She was fun to play with. She helped others and was always there when needed. She never got mad at her girl. If the girl got in trouble, Dream wouldn't be mad, she would instead take the girl's side and dry her tears. She was loving and friendly, the only people she was mean to were people who weren't nice to her girl. If someone bullied her, Dream would protect her. Dream was perfect in the girl's eyes.

After she was abandoned, Dream changed. Before, she had relied on the friendship of the girl. Then she suddenly found herself without the constant companionship she was used to. She became very lonely with no one to notice her. She began to talk to herself to fill the silence and keep herself company. She hung around others, and talked to them as if they could here her. But after awhile with no responses except for the occasional glance, she became cold and withdrawn. If others sensed her while she was watching she would shy away. She began to do little else but observe.
Likes: Friends, playing, nice weather, the outdoors, starry nights.
Dislikes: People who bully her girl, mean people, being alone, when something sad happens.
Background:

Once there was a young girl,
As lonely as could be,
She had hardly any friends,
Always got teased by a bully.
Then she decided to make herself a friend,
A wolf, like she had seen on TV.
A wolf of lilac and gray,
With a moon necklace and a collar,
"To show she belongs to me!"
The wolf was kind and gentle.
The prettiest you could see.
"I'll name her Dreamscape!
But I'll just call her Dreamy."
Dreamy was her constant friend.
The friendly wolf always brought her glee.
But as she got older she made other friends,
Who she often went off to see.
Dream was slowly forgotten...
As the girl did not see...

The story begins with a young girl of about five. Her name is not important. She was one of the "weird" kids at school. She had no friends and was constantly teased by the other kids. One summer day, she was sitting in her backyard, no one to play with. She decided to make her own friend. She dreamt up a wolf that would be her perfect friend. That wolf was Dreamscape.

Dreamscape always stuck with the girl. Only the girl could see Dream, but sometimes other people could sense her. When the girl got teased, Dream would growl at them, and sometimes they'd look around as if they heard something. Dream was always there when her girl needed her. She came with the girl to school, to relative's houses, and slept at the end of the girls bed at night.

As the girl got older, she began to make friends with people in her class. She would go over to their houses with Dream with her, but didn't pay much attention to her when they were there. She still spent a lot of time with Dream while she was without her friends, though.

But then the girl started leaving Dream at home when she left for friends houses. Then while she went to school. She didn't give Dream as much attention while she was at home, either. The girl was thinking about other things. Gradually, as the girl got older, she forgot about Dream. Little by little, she disappeared from her mind.

Dream hung around, desperately trying to catch the girl's attention. Sometimes the girl would fleetingly remember Dream and get a wistful look on her face. But she had forgotten how very real she had made Dream. To the girl, Dreamscape was just the imaginary companion of the lonely little girl she had been.

The girl got older and older, until finally the she moved out of her parents house and went to college. Dream stayed behind, finally realizing after many years, that the girl wouldn't ever be her constant friend again. The girl's parents occasionally sensed Dream, but she felt restless and alone. She fled the house in the middle of the night, running and running. She ran for a long, long time, not knowing where she was going or why, besides that she had been abandoned by her girl. Her happy memories haunted her as she ran.

Finally, Dream collapsed, feeling weary. She looked around at the landscape. The wind blew, lifting the snow into the air and forming it into drifts so it looked like a frozen sea. She had absolutely no idea where she was. Suddenly, a chilling sound rose into the air. Dream's head darted about as she searched for the high and clear sound. As she watched, a group of animals burst over a hill. They were lean animals covered with black, white, and gray fur. They looked familiar to Dream, but she couldn't say why. Then she realized: they were the same type of creature she was!

Dream struggled off the ground and ran into the pack of wolves. Most noticed her, more than if they had been human. They growled at her and snapped their teeth. She dropped behind the teeth, cautiously following.

In the following weeks Dream lurked around the wolves. She saw that they were very different from her. They communticated through barks, growls, and non-verbal signals. What all of it meant was lost to Dream. To her the wolves seemed savage. She realized that she didn't belong there. The wolves may have sensed her more than humans did, but they didn't accept her. Besides, Dream had no desire to stay with these creatures.

She ran off, once again leaving a place where she didn't belong. She roamed, returning to a warmer area. Lying in the woods one day she heard a mewling. Curious, she stood up and followed the sound. She game upon a kitten sitting on the ground. He was a mottled black and gray, with blue bands around his tail, legs, ears, muzzle and body. He looked up as Dreamscape walked up. He seemed to notice her, not just sense her like most creatures did. Dream stayed quiet. No one could hear her anyway.

"Wh-who are you?" asked the kitten, looking up. Dream started. It had been many, many years since anyone had spoken to her. She answered, her voice rusty at first.

"I'm Dreamscape. My nickname is Dream. Or...one person used to call me Dreamy." She grew silent as a tear glistened from her eye.

"You can talk to me..." said the kitten in surprise.

"Yes," answered Dream. "Were you...abandoned, too?"

"Yeah," answered the kitten in a small voice.

"What your name?" asked Dream, her voice softening at the poor kitten.

"Alex," he answered.

Dream had another creature she could talk to, finally. Another abandoned imaginary friend. Alex always stayed a kitten, just as Dream always stayed the same age. Dream was glad that she finally had someone to roam, now.

I think that's as far as I'm going to get on the story for now. I hope I didn't kill Wendigo or Atwood with my long post. >.>

It's usually at the end of the week, and since the designs where up a bit late this time I suppose it's possible that they keep them up a little longer. Saturday or Sunday might be a good guess.

For the backstory, are we supposed to put in-a-nutshell or can we put it in story form?
