Species Info


Scientific Name: Merpis merpis
Common Name(s): Merp
Size: Males reach a height of 1 inch max, and females reach a height of ¾ inches max
Life Span: Generally about 120-150 years
Habitat: Merps prefer areas with very dense undergrowth, so they have many areas to hide, they like to live in humid, forested areas with few bodies of water, as merps drown easily.
Diet: Merps have a highly varied diet consisting of insects, snails, slugs, roots, berries, nuts, seeds, and sometimes will feed off of carrion.

Life Cycle

Merps go through a series of three separate growth stages. They start out as eggs. The eggs are similar to a frog’s, with a jelly like substance surrounding a small, dark shape, which becomes identifiable as the young merp ages. After they hatch, merps are still very small, but are basically just little versions of their adult selves. The adult stage is when a merp is old enough to breed, and will no longer develop or grow anymore. Merps generally are quick growers, but have no set rate at which they grow.

Breeding

Once they reach their adult stage, merps become breedable. The female will generally produce 1-2 eggs, which both parents will care for. The female’s gestation period is 2-3 days, during this time she will find a burrow, usually in tree roots or logs, and line the burrow with her fur. The male will stay on the outside of the burrow, and wait until the eggs hatch to start caring for them. He does so by catching food for the mother and young.

Life Span: Generally about 100-120 years
Habitat: Zephyrs live in hollows in trees, they have small retractable claws that allow them to climb. To get down from their trees they either jump from one branch to the next, or climb down down feet first, they can't go down head first because their ears would over balance them and they would fall.
Diet: Zephyrs eat mainly nuts and the occasional berry, they store their food in special hollows in their tree, these hollows are usually right above their sleeping hollow so they can hear anyone attempting to steal their food, their large ears help with this.

How-To
Below you will see a batch of merp eggs, usually about 5 per batch. These are your merps, well, not really, which ever merp you choose is your merp! Merps do not work on a First-come-first-serve so much, but instead whoever first correctly fills out their form will get that merp. So, it's still sort of a FCFS basis, but not entirly.

There are two different forms, the First Merp form is what you use if you are requesting your very first baby merp. The Afterward Form is what you use to get your second, third, fourth, ect, merp.
