The vortex began to swirl faster once more as it rose up high in the center of Ahzen. Another Ahzenai stepped forth and the vortex shrunk once more. This male Ahzenai was a dusty tan color with black stripes upon his head and back. Rocks and plant matter circled around his back in an orangish glow. He flexed his claws in the loose sand of the cave floor before padding forward, his eyes locked on the humans around him. The cave was too dark to properly hide him, only his stripes blended in but he did his best to not be seen. He was on the hunt and he wasn't going to let a human interrupt him- perhaps his luck would be better down this tunnel? He snickered to himself as he smelled prey.

He loved hunting by himself, it truly allowed him to feel his own strength without relying on someone else. No one else could feel the rush of the hunt or the sound of fleeing prey for him, it was an entirely solo act. Sure, some creatures hunted in packs, but that was because they needed to catch enough prey. He only needed to catch a meal for himself and didn't need to worry about feeding others.

Valcyon sat up from his usual boulder to announce the name of this new Ahzenai.

"This newcomer is called Zeoryler." he boomed so all could hear.

Judging will occur on July 18th, sometime in the evening.

I've had it. Just had it.

After tripping over my left shoelace, I fell into the river spanning this cavern- and then this maroon cat-thing padded over to me, stared at me as if to help me up... then stole the hickory-smoked, salt-cured... microwaved bacon I'd shoved in my jeans pocket.

...
I mean, who does that?

And then I get my eardrums blasted out with...

Wait, what was that? It's so poetical.

I scramble up from the dusty cave floor and slowly make my way over to the crouching cat-thing, my boots thudding and kicking up dust... maybe that's why I'm getting several dirty looks. I really don't want to intrude; he looks so focused. But what's he hunting? My eyes can't see a thing.

Whoop, wait. My glasses are filthy. I run the fabric of the bottom of my hoodie over the lenses and stick them back on the bridge of my nose. Much better.

How do I approach? Would tapping his shoulder earn me more of the infamous dirty looks? Or worse? Should I join him? I'm sure I wouldn't look like a fool next to him.
