I am looking to adopt...
Picture: Image
Kennel number:
P9
Name:
Destiny
Breed:
Winged Cat
Why do you want this animal and what will you do for it?:
Why: This animal... It's more than I can put in words. I saw her picture and I gasped. Who would give up such a spectacular animal? How did she come to be in a pound? Those sublime blue tipped wings, the complicated pattern on her legs and back, all things about her and of her made me want her with such a deep longing I can't possibly describe to you. Beautiful.
I will: Give her the best home she can dream of. Showers of fanart that make her feel appreciated, a place on her very own page. I will give her the voice she was never able to have.
Personality:
Destiny, in her old home, was a bit of an soft-spoken creature. She never usually got things from her owner, but, when she did, it was greatly appreciated. You see, that is what Destiny is. Kind. Caring. She has massive perseverance. She didn't see it coming, but out of nowhere, her old owner decided he had simply not enough room in his 3 storey mansion for little ol' Destiny. She was unjustly kicked out on her behind to fend for herself. That is when she found Pound of Hope. Destiny has been taken care of wonderfully here, but it's time for her to find a home.
A real home.
Likes:
Destiny enjoys curling up by the fireside and taking a nap. She loves to fly above her town and see the world from the clouds. You can often find her, in the winter, frolicking around in the snow, or, in autumn, kicking around leaves. Her favorite summertime activity is just lazing in the grass all day. In spring she has been known to pick little blossoms and take them home to her owner. (Who, of course, beat her for bringing the flowers in, claiming that she tracked dirt all around his 'little' home.)
But the thing Destiny enjoys most is taking her daily walks around the woods. At these times she feels most peaceful as she remembers the past and thinks hard about her future. Will that future involve me? If my wish comes true, than most certainly yes.
Dislikes:
Destiny has never disliked anything until she was kicked out. In her time alone she learned she could not stand sleeping in a soggy, miserable-looking cardboard box while the rain mercilessly pounded on the concrete outside. She learned that digging for measly scraps of food in stinky trash cans was just not her thing, and that she did not particularly enjoy having to beg for her dinner either.
History/Background:

Art:
None, yet. But I can promise that there will be tons soon.
Other:
I hope that you will give Destiny and I a chance at being together.
I really do.

I am looking to adopt...and keep forever in my heart
Picture: Image
Kennel number: 102
Name: Leilani (Hawaiian for heavenly flower)
Nicknames- Leilee, Lani, Loolah, LanLan or Lan.
Summer knew the second she saw Leilani that she needed a special name, something unique that sounded beautiful, to match the canine herself.

Breed: Border Collie x German shepherd
The lab was trying to get the perfect cross to make a dog who could run all night with enthusiasm but had an edge of viciousness and strength, which is where the GSD breeding came in. They were disappointed when as a young pup Leilani didn’t show any signs of aggression and they couldn’t train it into her.
Mother and Father: unknown
Siblings: none as known.

Why do you want this animal and what will you do for it?:

Her story came to me straight away, I didn’t even have to think about what to write about. She’s got such a pretty design and seems to radiate character and those eyes draw you in, they‘re what gave me my story idea actually. her colour scheme is fantastic and compliments itself really well, its interesting and unique, plus I love her little paw print mark. I adore naturally coloured designs anyway but its sometimes a challenge to find nice natural designs that are done well and are unique at the same time (without adding hundreds of accessories) in adoption centres. I don’t often find myself so captivated by designs but this girl just has me caught, I just hope I’m up to the task of writing for her.

If I win her I am hoping to continue her story, as an avid writer I spend a lot of my time looking for things to write and her story would be one that I can make grow and flourish while keeping it interesting. She’s a little ball of inspiration and when I look at her I get an idea for another chapter or plot twist, and its interesting to me to explore all this.
As always she’d be included in my writings about my other ‘pack’ members, which is getting to be quite a big story, but as the only character of mine that would have a human friend she would play an incredibly important role there. Which gives me even more ideas about where to take that story too.
I’m still working on my art and so she’d probably end up drawn quite a lot, and she’s got a nice design to practise so I would enjoy making art of her too. Its challenging enough to make me concentrate getting her markings to blend right as well as being a nice design to enjoy working on.
I’m also going to try my hand at dynamic scenes from my writings and I think she’ll provide me with plenty of brilliant opportunities to do this.

She will, of course, also have her own page on my character site and on any character threads I will have on chickensmoothie displaying her information and her art. and have art bought of her. Though as I am a little fussy about who I order art of my favourite characters from her art portfolio may take a while to build up. Though for a character as pretty as her its worth the wait for quality art.
Lastly I hope to use her in my attempt at the 100 themes challenge, there’s a few on the list that I think she would be perfect for.

Personality:

The best friend you’ll ever have.
That’s probably the best way to describe her, fun loving always by your side and ready if you need a hug or some fur to dry your tears on. Lani has a very strong sense of friendship and tries her best to always be a good friend to everyone she meets, unless of course that person is trying to hurt her or her loved ones. Her best friend will always be Summer, but she knows that sometimes everyone needs a hug, and who better to deliver than a furry four pawed friend?

The unwavering loyalty you can count on.
Leilani is one of the most loyal canines you could ever meet, she’s by Summers side in seconds and would protect her even if it meant death for herself. She cannot bear to see anyone she cares about in pain or trouble and will go out of her way to stop it.
Though Summer is her number one priority she’ll be loyal and protective of anyone who deserves or needs it, friends family or even good hearted strangers she’ll look after, as long as it doesn’t hurt Summer or put anyone else at risk.

The rock in the storm.
One of Leilani’s strongest assets is her ability to remain calm and collected even in the most high stressed situations. She stands sounds and even and thinks her own actions through before she does anything, making her the perfect companion for someone as accident prone as Summer. Of course she can be excitable and nervous at times but she controls it well and very rarely seems stressed at all, the only time she appears worried is if Summer appears to be late or in trouble.

The fluffy ball of puppy playfulness.
Lani is still young, and full of energy. She has a certain childlike view to some aspects of life and knows that often the best thing to do is laugh and have fun. There’s always a time to play with this girl and she has a really bubbly excited side to her nature that makes her fun to be around.

The German shepherd in her breeding makes her the perfect guarding companion, she’s very protective of Summer and will protect her with her life. She’s got great hearing and is alert yet completely relaxed most of the time. She’s incredibly loyal and would happily lay down her life to protect her owner.
The collie in her is what giver her the happy playful always energetic side to her nature, she can run and play for hours and is such a happy dog to be around she cant help but make people smile. Everyone who meets her loves her and she’s a popular dog in Summer’s village.

Likes:

Being beside my best friend
Leilani likes nothing better than just being with Summer and would happily spend all her time with the girl if she could, she loves just laying around with her or playing chase and swimming at the beach. Leilani adores Summer and follows her wherever she can, spending time together is just the perfect way to spend a day for this mixed breed canine.

Laying and watching the day drift away
The best time of day to relax with your best friend has to be as the sun goes down for Leilani, she loves to sit on the beach and watch the sun sink behind the waves, turning the sky all different pretty colours. It makes her feel peaceful and at one with the world and the quite time of day gives her time to think and re-charge.

Running, chasing, diving….after any toy!
What could be better than playing?! With her keen senses and intelligent playful nature Leilani -loves- to play, anything. Be it chase or find or learning tricks its all fun to her. Though her favourite game has to be chasing things in the sea. Splashing through the surf is just so much fun!

Dislikes:

Being left by Summer.
It makes her incredibly anxious to be away from her best friend for too long when she doesn’t know where she is, she likes to know Summer is safe.

Thunder and lightening storms.
Oddly she loves and hates them in equal measure, but if you were to ask her she would always tell you she hates them and wishes they would never happen. In truth she is terrified of getting hit by lighting yet it fascinates her and she often ends up half hiding under Summers bed to peak out and watch it.

Being fed fish.
Though she isn’t overly fussy as far as food is concerned she really dislikes fish and its one of the few things she’ll turn down, which Summer finds hilarious. Leilani just doesn’t like the taste of it and much prefers white meat like chicken and turkey.

History/Background:

Sometimes the sun doesn’t always shine as it should.

The winding lanes are not always the peaceful gentle old world quiet they appear to be. Despite the beautiful landscape and breathtaking ocean views the little town of Bo Cove, there is a world of twisted plots and tales you wouldn’t tell with the sun down. Dark people and dark little plots.

The rain lashed unrelentingly at the slick forest floor, a scattering of mouldering leaves and other plant debris mixed with freshly fallen foliage, the smell mingling with the rain and recently spilled blood to create an odd astringent odour that was unpleasant and strange to anyone who would happen upon it. Fat drops of liquid collected in holes and divots in the mud making shimmering puddles of dirty water. The noise seemed to be loud, a rushing roar of incredible frustration and need that refused to abate or silence but rather fed upon the misery below it and grew in power and strength. Yet the girl beneath the blowing leaves and swaying boughs didn’t not for one second realise any of this, her red stained head resting on the damp earth in a blissful restless ignorance, her dreams weaving colourful patterns behind her eyes, making her sigh and moan in her forced slumber.

The summer of my happiest days.

Summers grin was plastered to her face, excitement lighting up her odd violet eyes and making them shine and dance as she rode along next to her father. The car bumped over the rutted and dusty track, shaking its passengers as if it wanted to throw them from the car. Tapping her feet on the floor as the bumped along Summer sang to her favourite tune played softly from the radio, her soft voice rang out a melody that would sweeten even the toughest of hearts and a secret hope of the girls was that one day she could sing for more than just herself and her family, though she had no desire to be famous.
A curve appeared in the road and Summer felt her pulse quicken, a shiver ran down the girls spine and she looked at her father with a tight grin he laughed and turned the corner, slowing as they reached the big white house at the end of the road.
As she stepped from the car the wind lightly tossed Summers hair about her face, the blonde strands catching the light and turning her hair into a shinning curtain of dancing gold. The wind was warm though, and smelled of cut grass and hot baked earth, it was June and the hot weather was making everyone happy with the longer evenings and sunlit days. Stepping up to the house Summer knocked nervously, her father hovered behind her ready if she needed his help. A small greying man with an eye twitch and a tight smile answered the door with a frown.
‘Your Summer’ he stated stepping from the house and leading her to the back of the building without another word.
‘Yes that’s me’ she smiled following him and wondering what his problem was, he seemed nervous and kept glancing around nervously.
‘Right. Its in that shed. Take it and go’ he indicated a small wooden shed, brand new and still smelling faintly of staining fluid.
‘Thanks’ Summer started to say, but the odd man had already walked off and left her standing a little confused. Shrugging off her concerns and with her earlier excitement bubbling again she headed to the shed, her fingers found the bolt and slid it back easily, pulling open the door slowly she glanced inside.
A short bark greeted her, sounding not defensive or scared, but welcoming and happy to see her the sound full of warmth and tinged with curiosity, this was followed by the scuffling of small paws and the most beautiful canine Summer had ever seen skittered into view with a wagging tail and doggy grin.
With a gasp Summer lowered herself into a crouch, holding her hand out in front of her gently for the dog to sniff.
‘Hi girl, wow aren’t you the prettiest thing I’ve ever seen’ Summer smiled widley as the wiggling ball of fluff sniffed and licked enthusiastically at her hand, she giggled and ruffled the little canines head fur.
As she stood the canine sat at her side, gazing up at her with her head tilted to the side, tongue lolling out in a happy silly doggy smile, making Summer giggle as she watched the little dog. Happiness her main emotion she wondered across the gravelled yard with the bouncy dog at her feet and knew instantly that this was her dog, and always would be. The two of them had been meant to meet and she was looking forward to a long summer of playing with her new best friend.
Bending to pick the dog up she hopped up into the car and only as she sat down did she realise quite how big the canine was. Her butt sliding off of Summers knees the dog attempted to lick her new owners face with undiluted enthusiasm.
‘Were going to have so much fun’ Summer laughed ruffling the dogs scruff affectionately ‘now, for such a beautiful dog, you need a beautiful name’ she tilted her head as she gazed into the dogs mismatched eyes ‘I shall call you Leilani’ the dog wiggled excitedly and licked the girls chin in doggy approval.

The summer had so far been spent playing games on the beach, flaking out in the sun and having a good time together, girl and dog were growing together as a wonderful pair and spent every hour they could in each others company, the bond between them strong as only a dog and her best friend could be.
Two months later and the dog had was growing beautifully, her coat shone with health and her eyes were bright and playful. But something strange was happening to the dog, something Summer couldn’t find an explanation for.
Often Summer found Leilani outside, with all doors and windows shut and no doggy door installed it was puzzling how she managed this. She had asked her parents but they had no idea either, it was neither of them letting her out.
‘How are you doing this?’ she asked one evening opening the kitchen door to let her friend back in from the garden, Leilani just grinned her usual doggy smile and wagged her tail happily.
The dog padded through the kitchen and leaped up on to her favourite chair, a long squashy window seat that looked out over the beach behind their house, Summer followed her and sat behind the dog, running her fingers through the soft fur on Leilani’s shoulders and relaxing as they watched the sun drift down over the bay, the last of the days people packing away their things to leave the beach empty and peaceful. Lani made a soft humming sound in her throat and laid her head contentedly on the window sill.
The canine was getting quite big now for her age, though Summer wasn’t sure how old exactly the pup was, all the man on the phone had said was she was a few months ish, which didn’t give Summer much to go on though she suspected her companion was getting close to a year old.
They must have dozed off together sat there because when they woke it was dark outside, the stars shimmering brightly in the moonlit sky. Leilani was stood with her hackles raised glaring out the window and growling the most menacing noise Summer had ever heard. The garden looked still and quiet and Summer rested a hand on Leilani’s shoulder to calm her, worry building in the girls chest, she’d never seen her dog like this.
Suddenly Leilani jumped from the seat barking and snarling towards the back door, Summer let out a cry of fright as the door slammed open and two hulking black shadows forced their way inside. One of them shot Leilani with something, a fluffy red dart that hit the snarling dog in the chest and made her yelp, slowly Leilani‘s eyes became unfocused and she swayed unsteadily on her paws. Screaming Summer rushed to her dog arms outstretched as fear rushed and choked her throat, the dog fell to the floor with a long whine. One of the men advanced and grabbed the girl while the other picked up the slowly sleeping dog, her paws still twitching as she tried to cling on, to save her girl.

Where am I? What am I doing here?
:Leilani’s story.

My skin felt hot and tingly as I blinked my gritty eyes open and took in the room around me, a cold cement box held me captive and the floor beneath me was hard and uncomfortable. My mouth felt dry and I ached in every bone and joint, shaking my head and trembling slightly I raised myself to my paws, a whine escaping my throat as I did so. I let my head hang low as I shook my mussed fur out and a yawn escaped my maw, where on earth was I? More importantly where was Summer! Panic rose in my chest but I shook my head and quelled it, this was no time to let fear reign in my head I needed to be able to think. When I found out what was going on I could concentrate on Summer.
Turning to survey my surroundings I noticed a set of bars in front of me and moved my heavy paws to carry me closer to them. Beyond my own bars I could see other cages, a whole row of them stretching further than I could easily see. I huffed out a surprised snort and leaped back as a voice shushed me from next to me. I pinned my ears back and looked towards the cement wall with a mix of curiosity and a slight twitch of fear.
‘Hello?’ I asked making my voice sound calm and confident, wondering who the mystery voice belonged too.
‘New here I gather’ a dry voice answered me, tinged with amusement ’can always spot a newbie’
‘Yes I am new, in fact I’ve just woken up here, could you tell me where I am?’ I sat and curled my tail round my paws in the manner of a cat, a habit I have had since puppy hood, though I don’t remember much of my young life.
‘Well, your in a research facility. You know, the two legged beings do tests on us and stuff’
‘Oh. Why do they want me then?’
‘You must be joking?’ the gruff voice sounded disbelieving ’the tests? Hello?’
‘Ah yes, sorry’ I dipped my head slightly feeling embarrassed ’well. Is there any way out?’
‘If there was don’t you think we’d all have left by now. Now go to sleep and be quiet’
I raised an eyebrow, he clearly hadn’t wanted to help me so i was just going to have to get out myself. At home it was easy to get out, all I ever had to do was stand at the backdoor and I was outside, so it should be the same here. I couldn’t figure out why the others hadn’t already thought of this but it wasn’t my place to tell them.
I stood at the bars and concentrated, all I had to do was want to get out and I would be out. Easy.
Or not, I wrinkled my brow and concentrated harder, this should be easy. Confused that I wasn’t already on the outside of my cage I huffed in frustration.
Deep breath and try again.
Still not working. Why wasn’t I outside? I didn’t have much time to think about that as minuets later a man in a long white coat came to get me, pressing a button outside my cage he came in. He didn’t try to pet me or even really look at me even though I wagged my tail and greeted him the same as I greeted all humans. He slipped a chain round my neck and led me roughly from the cage, annoyed I felt like pulling back and stopping, I sensed this would not end well for me though and so I kept moving alongside him, head low and eyes on the ground.
We left the room behind and walked down what seemed like a never ending corridor until we reached a set of shinny doors, he pushed through them and I found myself in a plain white room, nothing in there but me and the human. The man let me off the lead and set me loose into the room before turning and leaving, I sniffed around the room but there were no specific smells. This room was at least warmer than the last.
Voices came drifting in from the hall and I cocked an ear to listen to them, my natural curiosity drawing me to listen.
‘Where did they take the girl?’
‘She’s in the woodland hide out, she wont escape’
‘That’s good then, we cant have anyone knowing about this, people will think she ran away and the dog went with her’
‘The searches?’
‘Not important. Once we get past a certain time frame the police will no longer look for her, we are well hidden enough to avoid that’
‘And the dog? What are we going to do with it?’
‘Well, from what I hear its powers were not yet defined as a pup. It should never have left the compound when it was younger’
‘Powers?’
‘The odd eyes, the yellow one is the one that holds the gift. As it grows it will grow with it, the power to teleport itself from one place to another’
‘Does the boss know we have it back?’
‘No. He called it all off, that’s why it was given away, he decided it was wrong to medal like that and switched his interests to colour and marking modification. It was to be given away as a normal dog to live a normal life’
‘So why is it back?’
The voices faded slowly and I was left slack jawed and quickly processing the information, these people had provided me with. I was…a genetic freak? Modified in some lab for…for what purpose?
Questions popped into my head like floating bubbles, but for now I would have to wait to think about them. Summer needed me and I had to find her. I pinned my ears back and walked at the door with determination, having no idea how my…powers, worked it was a case of hoping I could manage to escape now, it hadn’t worked in the cage but it worked at home.
I walked square and strong at the door, closing my eyes and breathing steadily I just relaxed and thought of being on the other side of the door, until I walked into a wall.
I blinked and skidded to a halt, I was outside the room! A quick grin was all I allowed myself before turning and running down the hall and top speed, possessing the skill to read basic human writing I managed to navigate my way to the entrance of the building, using the same theory as I had before I ran at the door and pictured myself the other side.
It worked again and my paws flew across the grass outside as I sped towards the trees at the end of a long sloping lawn. A loud flat bang rang out behind me and I instinctively tucked my head down and tensed myself, beside me a large clump of mud and grass flew from the ground and into the air, breath caught in my throat as I realised what was happening, I’d watched enough old westerns with Summers father to know that this was the sound and effect of gunshot.
The sound carried flat and deadly across the grass to me three more times and I ran in a weave as I carried on to the trees, nothing it me and my breath came in ragged gasps as I hoped it would stay that way.
An idea flashing to mind I concentrated on willing myself into the trees hoping desperately that I could make it away faster. No luck, though I found myself slightly further along the lawn I wasn’t much nearer to the safe closure of the trees than I had been before.
So that must be the limitation I had heard about, I couldn’t go much further than a meter or so which made the sound of engines starting behind me slightly more worrisome. I poured as much speed on as I could but I knew that if I didn’t get there before them the game was up and they would catch me, but now the trunks of the leafy green foliage was in sight and hope flared through me. I ran with all my heart and skidded into the forest just as I felt the shadow of a vehicle fall over me and turn the grass at my paws dark.
I didn’t stop as I hit the dense forest but leapt and twisted my way through bushes and branches until I could no longer hear the engines. I wasn’t foolish enough to think it had ended there and the humans would just give up, but I did know that now it would be easier to keep hidden, my paws and sharp senses gave me the advantage over them out here.
Hurtling through a small clearing a few minuets later as my breath burned in my lungs I heard a short bark behind me and I jumped sideways in surprise, I had not expected to see anyone out here. I slowed my pace wondering who it could possibly be as an odd coloured wolf with a shock of blue hair paced from the trees.
‘Who are you?’ I asked standing square to face the newcomer, hoping they didn’t mean me any harm and would let me go.
‘Razor, did you just come from there?’ the female asked in a quick urgent voice, indicating behind us to where I had just run from. Her white fur was covered in black stripes and she had grey patches on her paws and tail, she was the strangest thing I had ever seen.
‘Yes, do you know of it?’
‘you better follow me’ she said starting at a quick run and leading me deeper into the forest ‘I come from there, we need to get away from here fast’
‘Alright’ I took off after her, having caught my breath slightly from the brief pause I ran alongside her so I could speak to her ‘they have my human hidden in he forest somewhere, I need to find her’
‘Your human? You have a human?’ the wolf gave me a sidelong glance that was filled with an odd mix of surprise and wariness that momentarily had me wondering what had happened to her at the hands of these men.
‘Yes, Summer. She’s my best friend and she needs me’ sadness rose in my throat and for a moment I felt choked, shaking my head to clear my thoughts I continued ‘they captured both me and her and I’m scared they might hurt her. I have to find her’
‘We’ll help you’

Mum? Dad? Leilani?! I’m so scared.
:Summer’s point of view.

The girl moaned as her eyes twitched open, the wooden room around her was bare and dirty and she was propped in a corner left to rest against the floor. As she tried to move restraints dug into her wrists and feet and she cried out as the rope bit her skin. A black figure paced into her field of view and glared at her angrily, clearly annoyed that she’d made any noise. Summer fought a sob that rose in her throat and bit her lip harshly to stop any more noise escaping.
The man curled a lip and turned to his cell phone as it chirped into life, he flipped it open and held it to his ear wrinkling his nose as he did so. The phone was set loud enough that Summer unfortunately could hear everything.
‘Hello’ the man said gruffly looking displeased and suddenly on edge.
‘There’s been a problem, we have to stop the operation’
‘What! But it’s already underway. What happened?’
‘The mutt escaped, the idiots out from tried to shoot at her thinking she was some wild rabid animal that had got onto the compound. The boss saw the whole thing and recognised her. I escaped but he’s had everyone else who was involved arrested and taken away’
‘What! How did he know?’
‘Someone was keeping a file on the operation, we’re all named in it’
The man swore under his breath before speaking again ‘so what now?’
‘Get rid of the girl, make sure it looks like an accident. I’m going after the mutt to see if I can kill it but we need to be out of here by nightfall’
‘The darkness will help us escape’ the man agreed nodding now and looking at Summer in a way that made her stomach shrink and her spine go cold ‘I’ll take care of it. Good luck finding the dog’
He ended the call and opened the front door, leaving her alone for a moment for what reason she could only guess at, and it made her even more frightened.
Her mind working over time she struggled with her bonds trying desperately to loosen them so she could get free and run from this dreadful place. As she struggled her wrist caught on a loose nail in the wall and snagged her skin, she stifled a yelp as she realised she was cut and the nail might be sharp enough to cut the rope if it could cut her skin. Rasping the coils against the sharp point of the nail she caught her skin more than once but she didn’t give up, eventually she felt the tight rope loosen and knew she was nearly there. A couple more times back and forth and the coils fell loose behind her. Hope surged through her and she quickly untied her feet, scrabbling up and hurtling herself at the door. Her eyes flicked back and forth from the door to the trees around it, deciding her best bet was just to run straight she stretched out her tight muscles, sore from sitting still so long, and ran as quickly as she could, bursting from the small cabin just as the man reappeared from the side. He shouted a curse at her and she yelped in fright, pouring on the speed and hurtling for the trees. Her breath came in short ragged gasps and fear held her chest in a vice as she dodged trees and jumped over small bushes, the rough sound of footsteps behind her warning her the man was following.
The fatal mistake was looking back to see how far behind he was, her foot snagged in a tree root and her wide violet eyes flashed with terror as she went hurtling to the ground, as she fell her head smashed against something solid and with a crack that blinded her and sent white hot light through her skull she crashed to the ground and lay dazed. The man stopped over her to see red seeping from beneath her head, panic seized his chest and he made the snap decision she was more or less done for anyway, her eyes were closed and her mouth hung slack, he backed away and fled the scene, his only thought was how much plane tickets to Mexico cost.

I will find you, my companion, my friend, my heart.
:Leilani’s point of view.

In the hours we had spent running Razor had filled me in on most of her story and I had a much better understanding on the awful place I had just left, speed was of the essence as Razor feared the humans were intending to harm Summer.
We had only made one stop, to Razors home with a pack of abandoned and rescued dogs and wolves, she had warned the others of what was happening and they were alert and ready to stop any humans they saw who wore the uniform of the lab or carried guns.
The forest had become a blur in the time we ran and my legs were weak with exhaustion but the thought of Summer kept me running strongly at Razors side, who hadn’t even started to look tired and seemed to relish the long run. Her face however was grim which made my heart go cold. It had started to drizzle a while ago and the light rain soaked through our fur, wind whipped at us and the clouds swirled black and menacing overhead.
Eventually we came across the small wooden building Razor had said we would and I felt my pace quicken, keen to get to my Summer and comfort her.
We scaled the place, it seemed quiet and as we approached the door we found out why it seemed so peaceful, it was empty. The open door blew in the wind and the room beyond it was silent and empty except for a coil of rope on the floor by one wall. My throat tightened and I felt Razor bump her shoulder against mine.
‘You know her scent. Don’t worry yet, sniff around and see if you can small her’ the wolf looked at me with soft eyes ‘we’ll find her’
I nodded and straightened, it would do no good at this point to go jumping to conclusions, my girl needed me to find her and I could. I put my nose to the floor and sniffed, wondering in loose circles until finally I found a very faint small of her, barking to alert Razor I took off following the scent, the rain growing heavy was quickly washing it away as I leaped through the thick bushes.
Landing over one hedge I smelled the faint odour of blood and caught a glimpse of tangled blonde hair, the only bright thing amongst the dirt where she lay, breath caught in my throat I ran to her side and lay beside her, wiggling to get closer to her as I licked at her chin. A soft moan escaped her and her eyes flicked open, focusing on my face before she threw her arms around me letting out a soft cry of pain but making her hug as tight as she could. Joy filled my heart and I licked her chin and face ecstatically as my tail wagged like crazy behind me. Summer sobbed into my neck as her fingers tangled in the fur over my back, I laid my head against her shoulder and hummed softly in my chest to her, letting her cry against me while knowing we had to get her away from here as soon as we could. Our moment of reunion was ruined when Razor let out a sharp growl, my head snapped towards her to see a shadow lurking in the trees, without thinking I launched myself away from Summer and towards the lurking shadow, drawing closer I saw the mean eyes of the man who had held me earlier and I threw myself at him with a loud snarl, how dare he put my girl in danger. My weight threw him back as I bit down on his shoulder and he cried out as we hit the floor, Razor was on him in a second and between is we had him pinned. It was then the blue flashing lights lit up the whole forest and the sound of sirens wailed around us.
‘Police’ I sighed happily as I watched Summer rise to her feet and run towards to figures who had appeared in the trees, her parents t seemed to be and I couldn’t help an excited bark. Shouts sounded out and officers came towards us, we backed off and they took away the struggling man. I turned to thank Razor but her face had fallen into a flat black snarl as she started past me to the humans.
‘I have to go’ she snapped roughly her eyes flicking to me ‘come and visit, maybe its about time we had humans around again, if your Summer is as wonderful as you say’
I nodded as she turned to shoot into the trees ‘thanks!’ I yelped after her wondering why she was so keen to get away. Shaking my head in wonder I turned and bounded over to Summer, where I was meant to be.

Curled up on the long squishy cushion with my head on Summer’s lap watching the sun go down over the bay behind her house I felt more contented and happy than I had in my life. The police had commended me and I now wore a collar from which proudly hung a silver paw print, the doggy version of a medal of bravery for saving Summer and bringing down, what had turned out to be, one of the most notorious thief’s in the country. It turned out the police had been sent by the owner of the lab, what was happening there no one knew, but he had told Summer that I belonged to her and no one else, and given her a number to call if anyone tried to hurt me again. He also explained that I was very special and had been modified to be able to teleport and it would grow stronger as I did, he didn’t know what else might happen but it didn’t worry us. The last thing we were given was a large farm house, on the same stretch of coast as we had lived before, but this one was an old farm, huge barns were scattered around and the house sat on our own private bay. Summer’s dad suspected this was a pay off to keep quiet about me and all that had happened but it was all done legally and out old house was sold in exchange. I could stay with Summer for ever now, days ahead filled with playing and fun, I would protect her forever now. These were going to be the happiest days of our lives and as I looked up into Summers relaxed happy face I wagged my tail and felt absolutely, that this was my place in the world, and nothing could take me from it.
After all, what is there better in the world than being snuggled up with your very best friend in the entire universe?

Re: Pound of Hope [ADOPTS/DONATIONS OPEN!]

Postby Solanum » Fri Jul 15, 2011 9:20 am

I am looking to adopt love and care for...

Image

-----

Name:
Formiga-de-fogo
{Fire Ant in Portuguese}

Nickname:
Fogo
{Fire in Portuguese}

Why has he got this name?
As he would have grown up and been exposed to Portuguese from a young age, I decided that his name should have been in that language. It just wouldn't have felt right to have called him something in my own language. He may have heard English, but most English names can never properly portray the beauty of his design.
Then came the actual name... I knew just from looking at him that he would be strong and bold, as are his colours, so I sifted through my knowledge of the area he would have come from, the rainforest, to find something suitable. Ants are incredibly strong for their size, and can be found all over the world, so I played around with that. His colouring gives the look of a soft fire, so I decided to put the two words together.

-----

Kennel number:
F55

Breed:
Smili

Sub Species:
Jungle Smili
His bright pelt wouldn't really fit into many habitats but the jungle is a place of mystery. It hides many creatures of different colours, shapes and sizes already so he would fit in perfectly. His pelt is very striking so would still be quite visible but being an elusive species anyway, it wouldn't affect him too much.

-----

Why do you want this animal and what will you do for it?:
Although this could be answered very simply, I'm going to just explain a little more than 'have you seen him?' For one, he is an absolutely amazingly designed characters. Although I'm not usually attracted to this sort of colouring, as I'm more of a natural colouring fan myself, I was just drawn to him immediately. The orange and cream go well together, and although the orange is bold, particularly in his mane, it doesn't take away from the design. The striking black markings on his face and ears, as well as the spots on his neck and shoulder, really stand out against the softer 'sunset' colours of the body. I just adore his design.
I've loved Spotty's Smili for a while now. I've tried out for a few in the past when they were adopted out from TAN, and actually won one, but I'd love another. They would go into the same part of my character thread, more than likely, to keep each other company, and to show off the amazing designs. They are a very well thought out species. One that I am proud to own an individual of.

As mentioned in the previous paragraph, if I win him he will be placed in my character thread. Either in a section of his own, or with my other Smili, Canowicakte. When it is possible, due to rising prices of custom art here on CS, I will order art of him. Although even when it isn't possible, I shall draw him myself. As I'm thinking of doing some more creative writing outside of forms, roleplaying and school work, just to relax, I'll include him in the pieces when it is relevant to his personality and global situation.

-----

Personality:
Aggressive? ~
Until a certain level of trust has been achieved, he can seem quite aggressive. His size and strength can be intimidating, and he likes to play on that to scare off possible challenges, although he barely resorts to actual violence. He certainly isn't above threatening displays to scare off potential danger to him and those he already trusts. However few that number may be. Despite his love of fighting, he doesn't like to do it out of anger, more for his own amusement or over important matters like territory.

Trust Issues? ~
After the betrayal he suffered as a cub at the paws of those that raised him, he has been less trusting towards others. Everything seems like a lie to him, no matter how real it actually is, which can even spark up a little paranoia if it gets really bad. In a way, it can be seen as almost surreal, dream like. Living in his own little world where everything is a lie, no matter how true. This may be considered weird to most, but after what he had been through, it is understandable.

Anti-social Behaviour? ~
He can display some pretty anti-social behaviour... Although he doesn't really like hurting anyone, he likes to stay on his own. It's more peaceful, quiet, when he is on his own and that is just the way he likes it. Not completely silent, although he has the choice to do whatever he wants without anyone complaining. Hand in hand with his trust issues, the two problems he faces just pushes him further from the rest of his typically sociable species, but it was always better on his own. No one else to hurt. No one else to blame.

Vain? ~
Can you blame him? With a pelt as beautiful as he has, wouldn't you be pretty proud of it?
Having grown up with loving parents, although it was a lie, he was quite spoiled. This developed into vanity as he grew up, making him more and more obsessed with not only how others saw him, but how he saw himself. Image is everything. At least he has something to be proud of. His stunning pelt is bold and striking, just giving him the edge on all the other Smili with more 'natural' colour pelts, but who says 'unnatural' can't be beautiful?

Peaceful? ~
Despite any first impressions, he actually doesn't like hurting anything. If he didn't have to kill to survive, he wouldn't. It kills him a little inside every time he has to kill, but it doesn't matter to him about injuries as long as they aren't fatal. As much as he loves to fight, he just can't stand the thought of being guilty for ruining someone's life. The one he injured, or the loved ones of the one he killed. It just isn't right.

Determined? ~
When things took an unexpected turn in his life, he pushed himself on through the blind fury to get away but he always kept that deep streak of determination inside of him. Never giving up, he struggled on, determined to succeed and make a better life for himself... Whatever life can throw at him, he'll deal with it, because that's just who he is... He isn't a quitter and doesn't plan to start.

-----

Likes:
Showing off ~
There is nothing he loves more than to show off. It doesn't matter who, where or when, he'll just go ahead and do it in any way he could. What he really enjoys the most is the attention he receives. When he doesn't get the attention he feels he deserves, he can get aggressive... That isn't a very pretty sight, as his second favourite thing to do is fight. His amazing size and strength are certainly something to be proud of and shown off, unlike flashy males that have little to back up their antics.
Fighting ~
As mentioned above, he absolutely loves to fight. Being quite large and muscular in build, he is very good at it. When he was a mere cub, his siblings had to suffer his play, but it escalated into something a little more serious. It isn't like he has a taste for the blood of his own kind, he just loves to exercise his dominance over the other young male Smili, and to try and get the attention of the females.
Procrastinating ~
When he isn't fighting or showing off, he is found just doing everything but what he is required to do. He has a real problem with authority, so can't follow specific orders. Whether it is lazing around staring at his reflection in a pool of water, running around, chasing something... It doesn't matter, as long as it isn't what he was asked to do. Yet somehow no one has got the picture yet...
Singing ~
Most Smili sing to attract a mate, but he just enjoys singing. He had never really been properly interested in the opposite sex. Maybe a flirt or two here and there, but the thought of settling down and having cubs actually terrified him. It calms him down when he's gotten in a mood, and being quite awkward with words sometimes, he can communicate through song. Of course it is not how humans sing. There are no words in Smili song, they are chirps, squeaks, whines... Primitive sounds that when strung together, could sound really beautiful. He admires the beauty that it can convey, but also how it can sympathise with the pain and terror of it's artist. Painting a picture of their emotional state.

---

Dislikes:
Rain ~
Considering he lives in a rainforest, this is a bit stupid, but that's just who he is. Even though he has a short pelt to combat the water cascading from the sky, he just doesn't like how it feels. It messes up his beautiful mane and tail, and what little water can actually soak into his fur weighs him down. Only a few Smili would actually notice that... Unfortunately he was one of them.
Liars ~
After what happened to him as a cub, he now has a deep running hatred towards liars. After his 'parents' lied to him through his cub hood about being his real parents, he has always told the truth, no matter how much it hurts. He has beliefs that all liars should be punished, as the effects can be negative for the ones being lied to. Unless of course it was a small white lie to not hurt someone's feelings. Those he doesn't mind, although he still doesn't use them most of the time.
Silence/Loud noises ~
As mentioned in the 'likes' section, he adore singing. This is his way of filling the annoying bits of silence throughout his life. He really hates it being silent. It puts him on edge, making him feel like something is going to happen... Something bad. As for the second half, loud noises... His ears, being larger and more sensitive than most, allows him to pick up noises that human ears might have overlooked. With too many noises going on at the same time, his ears really go 'out of whack'. The sound just echoes in his mind, not doing anything helpful, and distracting him from what he actually needed to do. Between the two extremes is where he'd much rather be.

History/Background:
Opening his eyes and ears for the very first time in his life, the 6 week old cub allowed his eyes to adjust to the light of the burrow. It was dark, but light was creeping down from the entrance, giving it a faint glow from the main body of the burrow. The young Smili cub started to crawl towards the bright wall. It was almost enchanting, dragging him closer to the seemingly solid surface. He had many dealings with solid surfaces when he was blind, each time he had bumped into it, it had given him hurt, but this one seemed different to all the other walls. Hesitating at first, he moved forwards, recoiling as if he had received hurt, but he hadn't. This wasn't a wall, it was a doorway to another place... An unfamiliar world outside the comfort of his burrow.
It took a little while for his eyes to adjust to the new light all around him, but when he did, his pale eyes widened in shock. Where had this whole new world come from? How long had it been there? There were so many different colours, spreading as far as his eyes could see. Flowers of every shape, size and colour painted the rainforest floor, bursting from the leaved bushes all around. The ground was soft and damp beneath his paws, his tiny paws leaving imprints as he started to look around the small area around the burrow. Only what he could see immediately in front of him. Ears switching as the busy sounds of the forest around him echoed inside them, he started purring, a curious expression plastered on his face. What was this strange world he had stumbled upon? So vibrant, so alive yet so unfamiliar. All but the scents immediately around him. Two jumped out in particular. The scents reminded him of some familiar ones he had previously encountered in the darkness of the burrow... The feel of the soft fur came back to him, the soft soothing voices... His parents.

His parents returned shortly to the burrow, purring as the young Smili made his presence known to them through some excited squeaking. The two male Smili wandered over to him, the larger of the two licking him clean. The rough, raspy tongue making his fur stand on end until a large paw swept it back down. The cub didn't seem to like it very much, but the larger male continued until he was spotless, the dirt from crawling through the burrow all gone from his fur. The smaller male had already started eating from the prey the pair had caught together, but stopped to wander over to allow the cub to eat the meat he had already chewed for him. The cub gladly accepted the meal, as per usual, except this time he could hear the purring of the males, see the food, the rich scarlet of the blood as it trickled down his father's chin. They looked like the perfect family, but not all good things can last. Unfortunatly for the young smili, his life was about to take a turn for the worst...

---

The cub's pelt had finished it's change within the next few weeks. The transformation between his pale cub self and his now striking coat was incredible. He had been born as a very pale cream, blind, helpless cub, completely marking less and was now a handsome young Smili with a pelt of a mixture of oranges, creams and yellows with striking black markings. Yes he was stunning on the outside but inside of him wasn't quite as beautiful. He was filled with doubt about the seemingly perfect life he had had so far. He had tried the sensible option, asking his parents about it, but whenever he confronted them, they had just given him vague answers that told him absolutely nothing he didn't already know. They were withholding information from him and he was beginning to see through their act...

---

As the time passed, he got further and further from his parents, the truth becoming clearer by the day. Drawing his lips in a snarl to reveal the white fangs beneath, a low rumbling growl shook his body. Fur bristling with rage, tail lashing out behind him. How dare they not tell him that he was adopted. More importantly, why hadn't he realised... The signs were all there, it was pretty obvious that they weren't his birth parents since males can't give birth, but he didn't want to believe that they were a lie. It was too late now. The truth was out... He had been stolen from another pair of Smili by the desperate males when he had only just been weaned off milk. He had been too young to really remember his experience, so he had grown up without actually knowing who he was... The world began to seem more and more unfamiliar again, almost as if he was returning to those innocent days where nothing could go wrong. How wrong he was to believe such a perfect world could exist...
Anger blinding him to reason, the young Smili left that night. He never had anything that he couldn't replace, so he travelled incredibly light, carrying only things he could carry on himself. Moving completely silent to avoid detection, he stalked away from the burrow in which he had lived his whole life, and followed the scents to some new places. Maybe one day he would forgive them and return, but that day was long off. For now, he would have to travel, explore, at least until he could find a group that would take him in. Smili are social creatures, he hated being on his own, but he had no alternative than to just turn back... He wasn't a quitter. So he sought out a new life. The journey was going to be long and hard, he would face danger practically every day, the risks never stopped... But he was ready and determined to succeed.

I will be here
when you think you’re all alone
Seeping through the cracks
I’m the poison in your bones
My love is your disease
I won't let it set you free
Til I break you

You’ll never know what hit you
Won’t see me closing in
I’m gonna make you suffer
This hell you put me in
I’m underneath your skin
The devil within
You’ll never know what hit you

I tried to be the lover to your nightmare
Look what you made of me
Now I’m a heavy burden that you can’t bear
Look what you made of me
Look what you made of me
I’ll make you see

I am looking to adopt... and befriend...
Picture: Image
Kennel number: P100
Name: The Devil's Train
Breed: Thoroughbred
Why do you want this animal and what will you do for it?: I love the plain classic design that comes with a personality that is so western and brusque that it is real.
Personality: Quick to temper, but very loyal, The Devil's Train will always stick by your side. He loves a challenge and he plays many sports and love to gallop around the countryside, bringing back news of new species and fruits. He loves piano music, especially classic, which calms down his temper. In a hard situation, he is very flighty, but he will make sure that you are on his back before he makes a 30 miles an hour gallop away (but he will still dump you off his back when you are out of danger). Self-preservation taking precedence over your feelings and sometimes well-being, you must be very fast-paced to keep up with him.
Likes: Wild gallops around the countryside always relax The Devil's Train, feeling the wind stream through his hair, whipping in the wind, he also likes to ride... right into storms. Once he rode right into a tornado's eye, leaving the experience without a hair on his head harmed.
Dislikes:
-Trying to be tamed is the one thing he will not tolerate. If someone attempts this... they never see him again... or anyone really... But he makes sure to leave them a parting gift (his shoe on their forehead).
-Anyone trying to undermine his ultimate authority will face a much harsher sentence. His evil and reluctant assistance (you) will tie the man to the opposing stall door, where The Devil's Train can use them as a punching bag until he is satisfied that justice is done.
History/Background: Once a long-time champion racehorse, The Devil's Train was kicked out after a temper incident resulting in an injured jockey. As a result, he was never allowed into the official races again. Before that though, he went all around the globe, from country to country, participating in international races.

Picture: Image
Kennel number: P107
Name: Sable
Breed: Pembroke Welsh Corgi
Why do you want this animal and what will you do for it?:
Personality: She is a fun-loving, happy dog, always wanting to play and spend time with others. As well as being a social butterfly, Sable loves knowledge and collects a giant library in her specialized mansion-size dog house.
Likes: Sable likes to spend time in new places and is often found exploring around her neighborhood and beyond. She likes big cities, midnight lights, and hip/pop music.
Dislikes: As much as she likes knowledge, Sable dislikes know-it-alls. She believes that they ruin the name of all those who work to achieve goals and to learn of their own will and interest.
History/Background: Sable currently works as an international fashion designer for the hottest dog styles and fashions. Every new season, she looks at her favorite new fabrics and designs new outfits to be shown and worn all around the dog population. Her name is the equivalent of Prague in her industry. The top of her industry, she owns a pent-house in New York for her business operations, but prefers the calming atmosphere of her home.
Always seen at the latest fashion parties, she would not pass up a chance to show off her expertise, humbly and when needed, of course.

I am looking to love and smother with all my heart...
Picture: Image
Kennel number: P25.
Name: Kyla. (Kye-La)
Nicknames: Kay, little shy Jackal, and Feisty girl.
Age: Human years//: 2 years and 8 months
Dog years//: 18
Theme song: The snow has killed - Maria Solheim.
Sexual orientation: Straight.
Job/Occupation: Guardian, and a little bit of a hunter.
Breed: Jackal (Please tell me if you want her to be a different breed.)
Habitat: A large forest, filled to the brim with lush green trees in the middle of the countryside, by a road. The trees in her forest consist of mainly pine trees, though a few maples and oaks can be found. The ground is made of dirt and mud, which become very squishy and sticky when it rains, something that Kyla loves.
Image
Why do you want this animal and what will you do for it?:
Well, to start off, I was just looking through the characters up for adoption, not wanting to adopt anything just yet. Though I did fall in love with the Australian cattle dog, which was the first pet in the picks. I was ready to adopt that guy, but I decided I wanted to give the other pets a chance before I would adopt him, maybe I wold find something I fancied more. And that's when I fell in love with this little girl. She was absolutely perfect- the design was pure love, the eye color suited her perfectly, heck, I even love her little black tipped ears. It was like she was shouting "Take me! Take me!" from beneath the crowd. If I do win her, the only thing i'd change is that i'd give her jet black paw pads and black claws. The rest is too perfect to touch.
If I do manage win her, i'd feed her all the waffles and french toast she could ever wish for. Oh, and i'd give her every little thing she wanted. I promise to be a good mommy to her! But on a more serious note, my gallery will become filled with pictures of her, and i'd love her whenever I can. I would also draw her on Photoshop, detailed style, and make her my deviantart ID. I might also roleplay with her once in a while, though I pretty much quit roleplaying, I still do it once in a while. When I do roleplay, if I win her, i'd use this lovely for the job. You know the "OMG MUST HAVE" feeling you get when you really want something? I had that feeling when I saw Kyla.

I worked REALLY hard on this form, it took me almost two complete days to create all the ideas and finish typing up all the work. I really hope I win her, I had lots of fun typing this up, though!
But this is the pound of hope, right? Where dreams become reality? <3
Image
Personality:
-Shy and reserved-
Kyla is normally a shy and secretive Jackal, preferring to keep to herself most of the time. She tries to avoid talking to people she doesn't trust by steering away from strangers, and keeping close to trustworthy people. Similar to strangers, she doesn't like new people, and will do lots of things to try to get away from them. She isn't that fond of new things, and prefers to be familiar with all her surroundings. When a new thing appears, Kyla will try her best to become familiar with it, but she does not enjoy doing so and gets annoyed whenever this happens. She also acts the same way when something major is removed from her habitat.
Even though she doesn't like confronting strangers, she will do it if it is needed. After all, she was trained to become a guardian to protect her beloved home from dangers.

-Hyper and Bouncy-
When around people she trusts, Kyla is quite bouncy and hyper. She will run and run- sometimes even for a mile or so. Kyla also isn't so reserved when she is hyper and bouncy, not caring if anyone asks her anything about her personal life, and answers truthfully, normally regretting it later on. This personality is most likely due to the hint of puppyish energy that clinged to her from when she was still a few months old. She hasn't completely lost the puppyish energy, due to the fact that she is a young adult.

-Aggressive and dominant-

Surprisingly, Kyla can be aggressive. She gets annoyed very easily, some other jackals and people who know that she is easily annoyed find it amusing to annoy her, since she rarely goes above verbal threats in terms of aggressiveness. The only time when she'll attack is if someone tries to kill her, but besides that, she will normally use a series of barks, growls, and some body language to try and ward off anyone away. If anyone tries to attack her, dominance mode will take over and she will attempt at dominating them. She loves it when someone appears to protect her from dangerous and annoying canines. Aside from other canids that annoy her and try to dominate and kill her, Kyla will also attack her prey without mercy. If she didn't do so, Kyla would not be able to survive for long. When she attacks prey, she will normally go for the neck in attempt to slit the jugular vein, and make an easy kill. This is easiest with hares and other small to medium sized prey that wander occasionally through the forest that she resides in.
She hates being dominated or humiliated with a passion, and also hates unsuccessful hunts.

Then there is the guardian aggression in her. The aggression that she was trained to have. This refers to the aggression that she exhibits when protecting the forest with her life; the kill aggression. She will leap viciously and snap at her target's face, her snaps sometimes being so close to the target's face that you can feel her breath gushing out of her mouth. She will then proceed to go for the legs, and seize her fangs into the newly cracked flesh. She will then leap at the neck of the target, and continuously apply all the force she can manage until the Target is dead. If the target manages to somehow, miraculously escape the tortures of the forest's guardian, Kyla will chase the target until she can do no more, or until she catches up to the victim and she delivers the killing bite.

Likes:
● Trustworthy creatures.
Kyla loves being around trustworthy creatures, she feels like she can actually be
herself around them. There is no need for her to hide anything from them,
because chances are, they won't tell anyone. She loves that feeling that she gets
when being around them, the feeling that you aren't in any danger if you tell one of
your deepest darkest secrets by accident, though in reality, you still probably are, Kyla
doesn't think so. Though chances are, the trustworthy creature doesn't even know that
one of Kyla's darkest secrets was just told.

● Meat, especially elk meat.
This one should be obvious. All canines that Kyla has met had a craving for meat, including
herself. She mostly loves the taste of meat, that un-describable taste that makes all
the dogs go crazy after.

● Successfully dominating or warding off an annoying canine.
Few things gives Kyla more satisfaction than dominating an thing that is annoying her to the
extremes. She loves to see the sorry little looks on their faces as they run away terrified
or beg to be released under her paws. And to add to the satisfaction, most of the time,
whoever annoyed her never tries to do it again if they get warded off or dominated.

● Being protected.
When dealing with other canines, someone will occasionally step up to protect Kyla.
She feels relief take over her senses, especially if she has no more energy left and
just got beaten the crap out of. Sadly, most of the time, no one will rescue
her, and she will be left to fend for herself. However, someone finishing a fight
for her isn't good for her reputation, and she is told to fight enemies alone.

● A successful hunt.
This one is obvious. She loves being successful on her several daily hunts, simply because
it makes her feel useful. And only a stupid person would hate to feel useful.

● The rain.
Kyla loves the rain. It is one of the things that make her feel at peace, and able to stop
worrying about her life. She also loves it because it soaks the hard ground made of the rock-like
hardened mud, and turns it into the squishy and sticky stuff that Kyla loves to hop around in.
Another reason that she might love the rain is that she was born in a rainfall, and that in her first
day outside it was raining.

● Squishy and sticky stuff.
Kyla loves the feel of squishy material in between her toes, especially mud. While most creatures
living in the forest hate the mud due to the fact that it slows them down more than usual, Kyla
enjoys romping around in it whenever she can.

● Killing a threat.
Obvious, much? Though this is probably the thing that gives Kyla the most satisfaction.
Wouldn't you be satisfied if you killed someone who was terrorizing your home?

Dislikes:

● Annoying or aggressive animals.
Kyla hates annoying animals with a passion. She hates dealing with them, and finds it
tiresome to continuously chase them away. And of course, the fact that they are annoying
irks Kyla the most. As for the aggressive animals that dare challenge her, she hates their
attitude, though Kyla knows perfectly well that she exhibits the same personality at times.

● Strangers.
Kyla doesn't like strangers because they cannot be trusted. Just yet. Or rather, Kyla cannot
trust them. Kyla also tends to dislike strangers because she would have to watch every little
thing she says around them in fear of being humiliated. Though she has gotten used to
doing this, Kyla's dislike for strangers remain.

● New things.
Most people would be in love with new things. Not Kyla. She hates having to get used to
the new objects, and therefor, she hates new things being placed in her habitat.

● Old things that she is used to being removed.
Kyla hates it when an old thing she is used to is being removed, it stirs up some confusion
in her brain, and makes her wonder where the object suddenly vanished. If it is something
minor such as a random, unused tree being removed, then Kyla normally has no idea
that something is missing, and doesn't care.

● Being humiliated or dominated.
Not only is this bad for her reputation, Kyla hates being humiliated. Only retards would
love being humiliated. She tries her best to escape being humiliated, even lying if she
had to. Along with being humiliated, Kyla hates being dominated. She feels as if she should
be dominating the thing dominating her, not the other way around. It makes her feel weak
when she's dominated, which is considered a natural reaction in her home, but that doesn't
change the fact that feeling weak is a feeling that Kyla hates with a passion.

● Unsuccessful hunts.
Kyla feels useless when she fails to take down her prey. Even if she failed at a hunt for a good
reason, it doesn't change the fact that she had failed at her task, and she would most likely
go without food tonight, unless she was lucky and caught a hare or a mouse, or something.

● Threats.
Verbal threats, death threats, physical threats, blackmailing, you name it, Kyla hates threats.
Even if it's playful teasing Kyla will bare her teeth and growl when someone threatens
her or anything important to her.

-2 Years-

The once Innocent pup's fangs tore through the flesh and marrow of her victim's neck... A scream of agony could be heard coming from her victim's terrified jaws, and then, there was nothing... Silence...Pure silence... The silence of death. It had happened more quickly than usual, but Kyla could not put her mind on what it was that made the death quicker. But no more than a few seconds later, a terrified gasp arose from Kyla. She had merely caught a glimpse of what she deemed to be a coyote's fur, and the pattern on it. "No.. No... Nononono.... NO!" Kyla shouted upon seeing what she had done. Nothing could have prepared her for such a great shock. What she had deemed an intruder, a threat, a killer, was really the coyote that had saved her life a year ago. She had killed a hero.
I've been turned into a killer... I let them turn me into a killer!
Kyla then threw her body to the ground in shame. She had killed the reason that she was still alive. To Kyla, this was a punishment worse than death itself. She broke into a fit of sobbing, and pushed her body beside the cold mass of fur, which was once Drey.

What i've done
I'll face myself
To cross out what i've become
Erase myself
And let go of what i've done...

[Rewind]

Kyla trotted about casually through the forest, she was still exhausted from yesterday's hunt, and had tried to convince her leader to let her take a break today, without success. She still needed to patrol the forest grounds and put any newcomers or potential threats into their place. Normally, she would find nothing, so she deemed patrolling today a waste of time, and nothing but a waste of time. Grumpy and upset that she had to guard today, Kyla took off and checked the beginning of the forest, in which was where most intruders and threats passed through, not expecting to find anything, though soon enough, Kyla could make out the shape of some sort of Canine. She closed in on the Canine... Seeing if she could grab any more details as to what it was before she attacked. At first it was deemed a wolf by Kyla, then she begun to look closer, and she decided it was a coyote.
Without thinking, she rushed forward, death on her mind. Kyla noted a surprised and scared look on the face of her newly found victim, as she leaped forward to tear the neck.
The species was surely a coyote- and coyotes were thieves, Major threats, killers, and a lot of other things. They needed to be killed off.

[Rewind]

Kyla's paws tapped steadily against the cold and rough ground. Then there were other paws tapping against the floor, following the steady rhythm of Kyla's paws pounding the floor. This was her first hunt in which she was the leader of, and she wasn't leading jackals. She was leading wolves. Plus, it was simply out of the question to fail on this hunt, it was Kyla's chance to prove herself to the wolves. She had set up a force of 17 wolves in total, what could go wrong? It wasn't like she didn't have the skill or anything. She had been on hunts before, and succeeded before. But she wasn't leading those previously successful hunts. Right now, all she could do was hope for the best, and continue walking until the air reeked of the scent of elk.

30 minutes later...

This was it. This was what Kyla was looking for. She could already spot an elk herd ahead, and could hear the excited whispers of the wolves. "Looks like we're here. You know what to do, or so i'm hoping, because I hope to take down the lead buck." There were several wolves staring at Kyla, as if to say "You crazy?". Kyla then continued. "But if we manage, the carcass could potentially last you for weeks. I should cut the talk now, let's bring it down."
Kyla gave the signal to attack the buck, and sure enough, the wolves took off after it. Joining the wolves, Kyla ran up in front of them, trying her best to control the wolves's every attack. She begun the attacks on the buck as soon as she was in biting range, and begun by biting and holding onto the buck's hind legs. Blood begun to drip out steadily, and the buck launched a kick to Kyla's chest. Normally, this would've taken out or killed her, but since the buck had fangs sunken into it's leg, the kick was weaker than usual.
As soon as Kyla got kicked off, she signaled two wolves to attack the haunches and hip, attempting to make the wolves damage the hind legs even more. She got the wolves to attack the sides, and continuously attack the lower body until the buck tripped and they could attack the neck. A few wolves got kicked off in the process, but in the end, the buck was taken down and killed with success.
A few wolves ended up with injuries, which was expected. But all in all, it was worth it, and the hunt succeeded.

[Rewind]

"Kyla, you are to lead 17 wolves into a hunt tomorrow." Her leader Serrae had said.
"Wait, you mean lead, not just accompany?" The surprised jackal had replied, and Serrae nodded.
"You heard right. Lead."
"But-"
"No buts. You are to do it the next morning, whether you like it or not."
The bad part about her leader, Serrae, is that she often forced Kyla to do things she didn't want to. But Serrae was a good leader, and had taught her many valuable things, so Kyla couldn't exactly hate her for it. Forcing canines to do stuff they didn't want to was Serrae's way of teaching, and strengthening her students. Nothing could change that.
"Fine... I'll lead them. Although I am a jackal, and don't know much about wolf life and their ways. Plus, won't they be able to tell i'm a Jackal? The wolves here aren't exactly accepting." Kyla sighed.
"You can pass as wolf quite well, Kyla. You know that." Serrae sounded slightly annoyed. "And this is your chance to prove yourself worthy to the forest, something you have always wanted to do."
"You do have a point there, leader Serrae. I'll lead the wolves in their hunt if I must."

-1 year-

Today was Kyla's first day where she found a seriously dangerous wolf, about two times larger than her at that, too.
She was confident, like always. Kyla trotted across the forest happily, head held way up high. She sneaked around the forest grounds in search of any intruders.
Her job was simple- to find any possible threats to the forest and attack them. Kyla didn't like this job, but she got used to it, as did all previous guards. Normally, after patrolling for a while, she would find an intruder. Rather than attacking them, Kyla normally tried to use words to steer them out of the forest. Normally a simple "I suggest you go, you won't be welcomed here." Did the trick to steer out intruders, but a few stubborn ones passed anyways, and that was when Kyla delivered a sharp nip to their haunches. And that did the trick, they ran away after they found out that Kyla was serious.
But not this time.

Kyla had found an intruder after walking for about 53 minutes, it was a large, towering mass of grey fur. It had all the characteristics of the wolf, the tail, the muzzle, the ears, and the anatomy. Kyla was a bit scared to talk to it at first, but she managed a "Excuse me, but you will be attacked here if anyone sees you. The canines and other creatures aren't welcoming. At all."
To her surprise, the wolf had lunged for her neck as soon as she was done speaking, and had a firm grip on her. Kyla let out a yelp of surprise, and was immediately regretting not attacking. Next time she would attack when she saw an intruder.
The wolf injected 400 pounds of bite force onto her neck, the average for a wolf. She barked for help, and that was the last sound she made before she passed out.

When Kyla awoke, it was nearly midnight, judging by the sky's color. There was a coyote watching her from above her, which startled Kyla ever so slightly. "What are you here for? To kill me?" Kyla choked.
"No. I actually think I saved your life. What I think was your parents and siblings, however... They weren't so lucky."
"What... What do you mean?" Kyla was on the verge of tears.
"Did a large grey wolf attack you?"
"Yes..."
"Then I saw the same one kill your family. I tried to kill the wolf then, but it outran me. I saw it here, trying to kill you just like he did to your family. Though when he tried to kill you, I killed the wolf instead."
Kyla sobbed, all thanks to a stupid wolf, her family was dead, and she would never see them again.
"I'm sorry." The coyote hung his head low.
"At least i'm still alive..." Kyla tried her best to keep herself from going into a fit of sobbing. "What's your name, I need to at least know what your name is... I am extremely thankful for you saving my life, though." Tears rolled down Kyla's face, which made the coyote feel pity for her.
"My name's Drey." The coyote said. "I'll be going now, I know that this place isn't welcoming at all, but I couldn't just let the wolf kill off innocent Jackals. I'm very sorry about what happened..." Drey said, and took off, while Kyla curled up into a ball, and cried.
[Rewind]

Kyla's training consisted of mainly fighting techniques, speed and stamina boosting, as well as power and strength boosting. All the training was extremely effective, and Kyla responded well to it. Day after day flyed by, and Kyla was patrolling the forest grounds in no time at all.

-Pup-

"Kyla, meet Serrae. She will be your teacher in your duty as a Guardian." Kyla's mom said.
"I prefer to be called "leader", not teacher, though if this young one wishes, she may call me teacher." Serrae said.
"Oh, leader is fine too, right, Kyla?" Kyla's mom said, but Kyla merely nodded.
Serrae was a Jackal, just like Kyla and her mom, except she had a deep brown pelt with flecks of light brown and black all over her pelt and a yellow mask marking on her face.
"Now that we have that settled, I will begin training with Kyla. And don't you worry, she's in good hands." Serrae said, and took Kyla away to training before her mother could even reply.
[Rewind]

Kyla's mother called Kyla to her, and Kyla ran to her, tail wagging.
"You won't have your tail wagging when I tell you what you're going to do." Kyla's mother said. Kyla, thinking that all she had to do was a harder-than-usual chore, continued to wag her tail anyways.
"I've involved you in some guarding classes."
Kyla made a confused look at her mother.
"You will be trained to guard, and will have to protect the forest when you become of age, which is 10 months. It won't be easy, but it's for the best, the forest lacks guardians, and dangerous creatures are lurking in. They need it."
"Mom... What do you mean?" Kyla was a little scared.
"You can still live here and do everything you used to, you will just have to attend classes every day or every other day."
Kyla nodded slowly.
"The teacher might be a bit tough, but you'll get used to it. She'll teach you valuable life skills."
Kyla didn't like the sound of that, but she had already been enrolled in the Guardian training, and couldn't do much about it but accept the fact that her life won't be the same again, and work hard in her new duties.

And so the Guardian training begun.

[Rewind]

Squish, squish, squish.

The once hard ground was now squishy and soft, but sticky as well. It was Kyla's first day outside of her den, and she was excited. She had been told to stay inside the den for a few more days because it had been raining pretty heavily, but that didn't stop the curious Kyla, although it had stopped her four other siblings. She had ventured out of the den anyways, not allowing the rain to bother her. If anything, she liked the rain, she also loved the little drops of wetness and coldness hitting her fluffy pelt, it was almost ticklish when they slid down and dropped to the floor. This little pup was so happy in the rain, she didn't even think about what was to come in the future. But even as an adult, Kyla's love for the rain still remained.

Art: Kyla.
Other: Probably the longest thing i've written on the internet.
