I walked across the beach, kicking at the sand as I went. There wasn't much to do when you're all alone, after all. I continually tossed stones into the water, hoping one would skip. Soon, I caught sight of the lighthouse. I had heard of magical creatures residing there. At the sight of the beautifully bright light, I ran across the sand happily. Upon raeching my destination I was thouroughly winded, but excited. I jiggled the doorhandle, and after a moment the door creaked open. I cautiously peeked in. It was dark inside, but a few shapes were moving a little ways away from me. I crept towards them, hoping they weren't hostile. As the bright light of the spire spun around above us, the room was illuminated. I saw three Gryphons, two small and one larger, perched atop various railings and items. I was amazed. They were so beautiful and so majestic, I couldn't beleive my eyes. I had also heard of tales where creatures blessed humans with their companionship, so I thought now would be the time to see if those stories were true. I practically skipped towards the animals before stopping. I was shaking with excitement and nerves. I opened my mouth and spoke gently.
"Would any of you three be interested in coming with me?"

(So sorry I didn't specify a Gryphon, I can't pick one! I just hope one comes to me, I can never ever get anything, even when I try hardest, from Ahzen.)

Looking at the two human beings seeking for his attention, he flicked his tail feathers as he listened to them.

Erhyn seemed like a kind person, not to mention that she promised him new friends and adventure. He also liked the sound of her giggle, which made him grin a bit also.

He looked onto the next human being, Bluer. She offered the same thing as Erhyn.. but maybe it was too much.. "excitement" for him.

Standing up, he first went up to bluer giving a acknowledged nod, than skipping happily towards Erhyn.

" I wouldn't mind joining you! I bet we'll have lots of fun!" He chirped, adding a little laughter.

Araniel had joined Erhyn.

Staring at the 2 humans, Rionan let out a slow bored yawn. When the one called Xrae started talking to him, nothing really seemed to interest him as she spoke, but his ears perked up when Xrae mentioned traveling the Isle as well as setting up traps and hunting for fun. That, he liked to hear.

The other human being, Fenrisb offered him playing together and so on, but why would he waste time making traps to trick humans? He would of rather use that time making fun of his other kins. But it wasn't that bad..

Rionan stretched his back and stood up, unsatisfied with what the humans offered him.

" I'm not impressed nor dissatisfied with the offers you have offered me, but I would like to know more.. could you two describe me about the outside world?"

Deciding that he would choose his companion from their answers, he patiently waited.

The largest of the three, the Grey Griffon, was the most magnificent. I practically skipped towards the animals before stopping. I was shaking with excitement and nerves. I opened my mouth and spoke gently.
"Would you be willing to come with me?" I asked the large one. "I can show you the world beyond this isle." I said wistfully. I stared into his eyes, hoping with all of my heart.

Rionan

"The outside world? Meaning my home? .. why would you want to hear of something so cruel and broken? I suppose I could share to you some of what I think it is ..

"It's a sad bundle of idiots who work and work for simple green paper where our 'government' or rulers give it value. Humans think it is suddenly valuable, and try everything in their effort to acquire it. In fact, they go so far as murder and attack, along with theivery and sexual assault. It's frightening because everywhere you go in my world is dangerous and broken .. It lacks color, everything is gray and bland. The only thing happy is the very sketch books and pencils that I hold now." I lay them carefully on the ground and nunge them forward for Rionan to see. "It's unpleasant there, Rionan.

"People kill themselves everyday from the madness of what happens there. It is an unsophisticated black hole where people journey because they think it is so wonderful and happy. Once you hop in the loop, you'll understand how you're supposed to act. Don't tell people things to sway them. You'll be called crazy.

"In my world, everything is opposite. Good is bad, bad is good .. The truth becomes the words of a stupid maniac. That's what the outside world is like, Rionan. That's why I hide in these books." I point to my sketch pad. "We can be drawn there together, but not out of sadness. Out of pure intelligence."

I stare at the hay I had been sitting on before I stood along with Rionan, trying to hide the fact that speaking of my dirty world hurt me.

Taking a deep breath I began to describe the world to Rionan
It can be an awful place outside
Yes people kill each other for no good reason and there are wars, in some countries people are even dying of starvation. We cant do anything to help as their government sucks up most of the funds us better off countries send over to try and give the people a better life. People call each other names and fight some people even kill themselves because of such things, it is a terrible place to live in but there is always a silver lining to look for.

The outside world isnt only gloom and misery its also a bright place filled with wonders, there are many things one would call fun I like to chase things and trick them into doing silly things just so I can get a good laugh. I love to lie in the grass on a beautiful day and let the suns warm rays bathe me in the golden light they posses, running at birds in crowded towns is always fun they get in such a tizzy its really rather amusing. Running round with my companions is always good fun even if I do end up flopped on the floor in a fit of laughter while they tickle me without a hint of mercy.

Tag was always a great game when I was younger, you would choose one player to be it and the others would run from whomever was it, if you were touched by the tagger, you had to run around and tag people. There are so many variations off ground, scarecrow and freeze im sure there are many more types now.

Admiring Xrae's words, and how she wasn't afriad to admit for what the world outside is like, she had to admit, the human looked cool. Not to mention that now he knows why she was drawing him. But of course what Fenris said was also right, Rionan just couldn't choose between the two.

But in the end, he has to choose someone.. right?

" I appreciate both of you for taking interest in me. But there can be only 1 human that I can be associated with... It seems like I will be tagging along Xrae. I wish you the best Fenris, to someday find a griffin that will be your lifelong friend"

Gaining his playfulness back, Rionan fluttered/skipped/hopped towards Xrae, licking her face till she fell down on her back. " Let's go play now! I been sitting in here way to long!"

Rionan has joined Xrae.

I walked, looking downward out of boredom and exhaustion. I had heard of the Gryphon before, and looked toward the sandy shoreline from a distance. Squinting my eyes, I saw a large creature, with wings. I shrugged it off, thinking it may have been a large eagle. However, as I kept walking, something about that faded figure was still in the back of my mind. Out of curiosity, I glanced again, only to see the very same creature but closer. I could clearly tell it had tiger stripes. What was this thing? I was both nervous and excited, and again, curiosity took me over again. I broke into a run toward it, hoping to see it closer, and find out exactly what it was. After a bit, I finally reached it. It was a Gryphon, the very creature I came to this area searching for! It let out a little sound, which to me oddly sounded like a giggle. I reached into my pocket, hoping to get my cell phone and take a picture of the creature, in fear it would fly away forever. Instead, my hand felt a little bit of the sandwich that I had for lunch. I held it out. The Gryphon sniffed it, took one cautious bite, then ate the rest of it. It let out a mischievous smile after it finished, then half squawked, half giggled the odd word "Rionan." I was confused as to what it meant, but after I repeated it, he looked at me quickly, and I assumed that that was my new little friend's name.
