Maybe, I don't know if this would help, could you feed them out of clean buckets or over tarps that you can clean after each day or meal, and pick up and move inside when they aren't in use?

Oh right. Forgot that small detail. Where I an there are only three turnout fields with grass, which the horses rotate through, and every horse has there own gravel paddock which is fine gravel, so I'd it where here something like that would be done and they just wouldn't be turned out to fields. They go all winter without field turnout, so it wouldn't be the end of the world. But with horses that are always with grass, that would be hard.
Anyways, I won't be able to run the weekly comps this weekend unfortuneately.

That's horrible Shadey! We had an outbreak of equine herpies here in the US a a few months ago. I believe it was spread by a few horses from Canada that came to a show here. It had mainly been seen in horses in the west, I live in the eastern US, but we were still be very precautionary about our horses catching it.

Are you talking about the southeast US? I live in the southeast US and the closest I know of a horse getting equine herpies was like new hampshire. The rest of the cases of been seen in the western US.

In a way I'd love a horse but in a way I wouldn't. I don't honestly know the first thing about caring for horses. Yes I've read books but I've never even cleaned out a stable. So I'd want to get experience before I accually got a horse. Plus I kinda need money first.
