“I have… several questions.”

Skyfire stared at the strange cat who had arrived overnight, a chocolate older cat who was busy setting up a big chunk of metal beneath the massive train engine she now lived next to. He offered her a polite smile as he worked, though his focus was primarily on… whatever he was doing.

“Course you do,” the cat said pleasantly. “I’ll try to answer, just don’t worry too much if I need to take a moment to not drop something.”

“Very well then.”

Skyfire sat herself down a safe distance from whatever was going on and tucked her fluffy tail primly beneath her feet. Poppy was off helping Vixenspark hunt during a slightly warmer winter’s day, which meant she was alone in dealing with this.

“Who are you? What’s your name, where are you from?” A solid first question.

The cat shrugged, hefting his weird metal thing into place. “‘Name’s Puffing Billy and I’m from everywhere, I suppose. I’m part of a group of train-travellers called the Firemen. Was. Maybe still am, I dunno.”

Peculiar, but she understood the sentiment. “I won’t press you on what happened. What is that thing you’re moving around?”

Puffing Billy’s chest puffed up with pride and he pat his metal thingy with a loving paw. “This here’s my anvil! I use it and my firepit, which I’m about to set up, to shape metal into tools. I’ve got big plans for it, just you wait.”

“Like what?” Could it be something to help find her sister?

“Well, in the short term I can make nails to hold wood together, blades to make cutting things up easier, and basic jewelry in case you wanted to fancy up a bit.” He leaned in closer, his grin crooked like he was sharing a secret. “One day, I’m gonna figure out how humans made trains go and make ones for felinekind, just you wait.”

Ah. He’s an odd sort then. …Eh, who’s Skyfire to judge? She talks way too much about the stars to be normal herself. She shrugs. “Okay! And why here, exactly?”

“Well, uh…” Puffing Billy frowns thoughtfully. “Dunno. I didn’t know this place existed ‘til I got here last night. It drew me in with its traininess, I think?”

“It’s what now?”

“Traininess. Like, even though it’s shut down it’s the most ‘train’ a location can be. Dunno how to explain it.”

Skyfire shook her head in amazement. Of course. Why not! “I mean, I just stopped here because I needed a place to stay. Who am I to stop you from living here?”

Puffing Billy beamed at this and clapped her on the back with a massive paw. “Excellent! I’ll be the best neighbor, just watch.”

xbut time would not fix the madman trapped in a phantom body. for it was only then when they saw him. him who was everything and nothing. he was the beginning of creation and the end. what could’ve been and what would’ve not.

obscurity had corroded the panes of his face, gorging itself on the life that this face had once occupied. his face was deemed nameless. the column of his throat made of hourglass bonfires and woodsmoke. don’t you hear him? do you hear him as he screams without a voice? without reason? he rips the earth apart from where he stands and the whole world spills at his feet.

there is a violent, chasmic blackness where his face once was, the dust of corrupted stars falling from where the cupids bow of his lips should’ve been.

the only thing that remained was the bleeding half-moons that were his eyes. eyes that perhaps did have a name if you looked into them enough. if you decided to hold that face of nothingness in your hands and drink in those red crescent eyes as if it were something divine, rather than a curse. but no one has dared to love such an abomination. no one has dared to let that violent, chasmic blackness that was his face fall upon their skin.

the only thing that remained was the bleeding half-moons that were his eyes… until they too no longer remained. until the madman trapped in a phantom body was pulled into another dimension. another pocket in time.

time would never fix the madman trapped in a phantom body… but at least it took him away.

the patrol's plan works! it seems that the rogues have went on their merry way without a fight. c: the only fight luna has is a battle with sickness, and she needs three herbs of any of the following to heal: +1 cobweb, +1 tansy, +1 comfrey root, +1 willow leaves, +1 deadly nightshade and/or +1 lamb’s ear. each post she goes patrolling without these herbs will make her lose -10% health </3

☆ explore writing:

They arrive at Doctor Layla's home and are able to leave Softbird in her care. But Layla is the first to notice how faint Luna looks. After a quick checkup- in which Triangle learns Luna is the Luna- the princess! Layla tells her she should rest and take things easy, and that she should take some herbs to help her heal faster.

Triangle needs to find Joe... he left him near the fields earlier. Hopefully he didn't meet with any of those hostile strangers. Luna, after taking her medicine, insists that she needs to go back that ways anyways, and that they should stick together for safety. So they are off again- Triangle on edge in the presence of this princess, and Luna as friendly as she has been throughout- and trying to stifle her sneezes.

jaggedstrike sat up on a tree branch, overlooking the camp. she liked keeping a watchful eye on the activities within the clan and also as a precaution just incase any outside threats thought it was a smart idea to attack the clan. she found the activity peaceful, it made her feel useful to make sure the clan is being looked after in her own way. most cats would find it boring or anxiety inducing having to watch out for threats but jaggedstrike loved it. she scanned the camp, taking a brief glance at sunstar who was lounging in the sun. she was about to make a sarcastic comment to herself when a rustle under her made her ears perk up. she listened for a heartbeat before a scent hitting her made her relax.
"dewnose, we have been over this. you can't scare me." jaggedstrike purred. it had been his running gag since she arrived in the clan, trying to catch her off guard to spook her, like a kit learning how to hunt. the tom's endless failed attempts humored her. she had debated a few times whether she should go along with it and pretend he spooked her but she had a feeling he would be able to tell she was lying.
"i thought i had you for a moment." dewnose huffed jokingly, escaping the bush he had managed to slither himself into, shaking leaves off his pelt. "i'll get you one day!" he meowed loudly before skipping away to join sunstar. jaggedstrike rolled her eyes, he was a pain in the tail sometimes but she was fond of him. he was like the brother she never had and she appreciated that.

Riverstar thought for a split second, not spending much time on debating whether to help Fennel's friend or not, the answer was obvious to her. She inspected the cat trapped in brambles, "Of course we'll help you. We gathered some herbs earlier, I'm sure they'll help with your wounds and recovery."
Riverstar, Hazelight, and Eggfur each grabbed some brambles to help aid the stuck cat, being careful as to not hurt the trapped cat anymore than what they have already been through. Through gritted teeth, "Whath yourth name?" The words came I out muffled and broken, Eggfur couldn't wait to ask the name of the trapped cat and asked while mid rescue.
Hazelight couldn't help but laugh, not at his attempt to ask but the impatience of the young cat. Eggfur is and has always been the light of the clan since he first joined a few of moons ago. Hazelight noted that he should help Eggfur out on his quest of finding eggs- afterall he never tried them but how could something so gooey and looks yucky could be tasty and worth all the trouble of swooping birds. Either way, eventually curiosity will get the best of him.
