for it were as if she were looking at the sun, that exact moment when you catch yourself doing something you shouldn't. look away. the instinct percolates in your mind, but you do not. the sheer glory of it is maddening as yellow burrows into the sockets of your eyes. oh, you like this... don't you? you like how your mind turns itself over and over, relish in the way it sings warnings like a priest at the altar. don't look at the sun. but at the end of the day, perhaps... perhaps you like the danger.

his eyes seared her right down to the very bone, boiling the blood in her veins and turning it into gold. into the ichor of gods. for her very blood still yearned for him like how icarus who had wanted a taste of the sun, whose waxen wings had ascended in a revelry of raw sunlight and ephemeral highs. he had been near god then. he had been bathed with tongues of fire and woodsmoke. before he plunged himself into the pits of hell.

but perhaps she had acquired a taste for raw sunlight. for she could see herself now, donning wings wrought from wax and hollow bone, already neck-deep in the hellfire that was their love.

the line between heaven and hell could always be redrawn, obscured to such a point point where the bonfires of their love seemed more like heaven than hell. because she remembered what they once had. their love built upon insurmountable golden cities and ruin, where they wasted away their nights drinking themselves stupid on cheap honeyed liquor sold by the barrel. their love all sweet nothings only tasted by the moon-soaked dawn.

for it was only then when he grinned, that same grin they had shared over glasses of honeyed liquor. glassy crystalline eyes distorted as if he too remembered.

[list]plover and driftwood are cat married <3 hooray <3 they live in the dreary port town of ikros together and live a quiet, happy life. plover is a renowned local potter and artisan, and driftwood splits his time between helping her run her shop and volunteering with the city guard/doing odd jobs wherever extra paws are needed. plover is very chatty and hospitable, and driftwood has a resting grumpy face that can only be reliably cracked by plover. they're an unlikely pair when you first meet them but are very sweet and domestic <3 they're currently housing their nephew, sandbar, who recently moved to the city, and I think a kitten from them would be so fun... little hellion of a little cousin for sandbar to help care for <3 would be so cute!
