You find yourself standing before a carved hollow of a gnarled oak. Broad umber roots lay at the entrance, twisting into one another in an anarchic fashion. Awkwardly engraved on the dampened bark are the words Astral Apothecary. Curious enough, you enter, ducking beneath a curtain of lush ivy.
A foreboding chill greets you, along with an onslaught of assorted aromas. The bitter tang of crushed mugwort; the delectable fragrance of warm honey; a refreshing splash of crisp spring water; and a savory hint of dried basil. Your senses are tangled, a cluster of questions and confusion. How one could tolerate such chaos is beyond you.
From further within, you hear the faint grumblings of a feline followed by a rhythmic noise. Scrape, scrape “I ca… …iev. Hi….” Scrape, scrape “.o rid..icu….s… unre…sona… rea..y” Scrape, scrape The voice grows louder with every step (as does the scraping) until, finally, the figure of a shrouded stranger appears. “That frog brain. I swear, the swamp has seeped between his ears and rotted all logic-”
The stranger stops speaking, ears flicking back upon hearing your approach. They turn to face you, one azure eye glinting inquisitively, “Who are you?”

The hollow glows anew, the dangling tendrils of ivy appearing brighter and healthier. They brush against your spine as you enter, walking through the familiar path until you reach Corsica. The tabby tom is walking around the space with a twitching tail, eyes wandering around the freshly tidied room. Glass vials sit pristinely along carved shelves, fresh herbs hang from vines to dry, and several pots are neatly piled together along the edges of the hollow. It's night and day from how it had been yesternight.
"Oh, if it isn't the star themself! Welcome back, friend," the feline mews in a pleasant tone, trotting towards you with a lopsided grin. "I heard the news from one of Turtledove's little winged friends. Wonderful job!" Their praise warms you, like a bright new dawn- grateful and friendly.
"Now that the forest is in some semblance of harmony, I'm taking the time to focus on just elixirs the next few days. I've gathered plenty of research materials and ingredients," the tom begins, turning back towards the carefully organized room. "I know I have free time now that things have gotten calmer. However, I still would appreciate your help. If you're up for it!"

Words spill from your lips as you tell the stranger of your arrival to the fae realm, explaining that Angelquartz requested your assistance in locating the lost Sun. The feline listens attentively, their singular eye assessing your every word with dutiful attention. “You’re a helpful little foreigner, aren’t you?” There’s a tinge of sarcasm laced within the words, yet there doesn’t appear to be animosity. As far as you can tell, at least.
“You know. My mentor, Salis, dumped me here to do some apothecaric research. Told me it was an ‘externship’ of sorts, whatever that means,” the feline rolls their eyes before continuing with a huff. “I’m to spend time experimenting with the native fauna to create an assortment of elixirs. The thing is, I’m just one cat- right? I couldn’t possibly do any significant experimentation on my own. At least, not anything of quality work- and trust me, Salis doesn’t settle for anything less than excellence.”
You find yourself nodding along as they continue to ramble, albeit, not quite understanding what they are getting at.
“And so, I figured I would start my experiments by seeing what sort of plants can grow in this endless night. I chose a few seedlings that I figured have the best chances of success, but, as I said before, I am only one cat. I do not have the time to plant and care for all of these seedlings. Certainly not enough so to gather an acceptable amount of results. After all, you cannot make a conclusion without ample trials- that’s what Salis always taught me.”
The feline pauses, sweeping their speckled green tail behind them as they peer at you imploringly. “So, you see, I think I could use a little bit of help. Perhaps, just maybe, a charitable, friendly foreigner- such as yourself- may be willing to assist?” They offer their warmest smile, gesturing towards three separate piles of seedlings. “Should you want to help me- and I certainly hope you do!- please feel free to pick from any one of these seeds and plant them yourself. Then, you can come back tomorrow to show me the results!”
