Name You'd Choose for It: Kestrel
Gender: female
Reason You Want It:
I had joined a while ago, but if you can't tell I had taken a long break from CS. When I came back I knew I wanted some characters and I ended up here. I very nearly started a form for this critter, but instead did one for my horse Flyer. Now, especially after her new revamp by wibeke, I simply can't resist any longer. I love the greys, and I'm drawn to polka-dots. The mint green eyes are so soft and seem to be the center of focus as they are the most colorful feature, so to speak. Also of course, the bandage under her stomache provides such a good start for a story.
History/Background/Other:
Ireland. Home of "good luck this" and "bad luck that", castles, good ole' pubs, and of course Kestrel. Ireland was her home, specifically Dublin, Ireland. And, to be even more exact, currently a small cardboard box under a thick bush in one of the city's prettiest parks. Kestrel was so small, that herself and the little box went unnoticed by any animal control officers who ran by chasing some other stray. It was a good place. Warm, the bush was thick enough to keep the rain out, and she had a blanket to put in her box. Much better than what she had grown up in. Today the sun is shining, warm and friendly and Kestrel can hear the laughter of the humans close by and she thinks back to the one who wrapped her side that horrible night...
It was storming, what kind of terrible night doesn't it?, and all she wanted was a warm place to stay. Animal control had just busted her home taking her mother, father and older brother away to the pound. They had screamed at her to run, so she had. Now she just felt guilty and alone. Not to mention cold, wet, and mildly hungry. Up ahead she saw a large pile of cardboard boxes that looked like a perfect place to camp out the storm. Kestrel excitingly ran in, then stopped dead. Snarling, half-mad dogs growled and snapped. As she backed up to leave, they lept and soon everything went black for her.
Waking up, she heard a gentle voice murmmer, "There now bob, easy lil'lass its a-okay." she was laying on a soft pink fleece blanket and could feel something wrapped under her side, which hurt terribly. She slowly sat up, panting with the effort. The man she had heard speaking earlier softly stroked her head and set down a plate of small cut chicken. The smell waffed up to her nose and made her stomache grumble. Kestrel quickly downed the little meal, and yawned after she was done. Laying her head back down, she quickly fell back asleep.
-a couple weeks later-
The man pushed aside the bushes leaves and set the box down, putting the blanket inside. "This should be a good home for ye." he said and kissed her on the top of her head as he set her down next to the box. "Stay safe, and I will come and check on ya soon."
I understand that by adopting this creature I take full responsibility for it.
Yes I sure do, Kestrel will be very well loved.
