ClockDials, as their name implies, are a species of canine-like beasts that deal with keeping the (metaphorical) clock running as smoothly as possible, no matter where they reside.

Because these beings deal with maintaining the proper flow of time in their own respective planets and universes alike, they create masks to shield the worlds they inhibit from what time cannot repair.

While there is no definitive timeframe of when Ancient ClockDials can form, it is believed that these are the oldest living subspecies that has been documented.

They are largely denoted by their affinity to hoard a niche, albeit random, selection of items [Ie. Triangular shards of colored glass, the porcelain faces from dolls, and so on].

It is also very commonplace for these ClockDials to infuse themselves with the best of said items onto their pelt, although it is unclear if doing this has any significant linking to social status with its fellow Ancients.

Having escaped their fates from Withering, Infected ClockDials are the least documented about of all known subspecies.

Infected ClockDials were initially assumed to be quite similar to zombies in concept, though a recent study of them indicates that they are unable to 'infect' others.

Instead, it has been shown that they will isolate their target under the guise of being withered, but research shows that that Infected ClockDials have ulterior motives once their prey is successfully isolated.

It is reccomended to not engage with Infected ClockDials one-on-one, as this has lead to several ClockDials and researchers alike to go missing amidst our research.

These are the modernized version of what ClockDials can look like, though it should be noted that hybrids/mixes between subspecies of ClockDials are also counted under this category.

Withering ClockDials are not classified as a subspecies, but rather a stage of life that the majority ClockDials are bound to experience.

If a ClockDial is to be found without a mask without regard for its age, it is seen as a sign of a ClockDial in the Withering stage.

To its fellow ClockDials, this is seen as a sign of a ClockDial nearing the end of its own lifespan, as well as a reflection of the dwindling time that remains of its place(s) of residence.
