Welcome to the lively domain of the virulpes, fun-loving little guys who can traverse both the digital and real world who just cant wait to have fun with you! virulpes come from so many different parts of the great cyberspace, from cottagecore blogs to high octane racing games to even just your own browser (!!!), so they can come in all shapes, colours, sizes and personalities, so perhaps for the sake of internet safety (for everyone involved) and just having a brand new friend... why not take a look?

virulpes is a closed species where you can pick up as many of these little critters as youd like !

so, what are the virulpes, exactly...?
Virulpes are a canid adjacent species (some argue the closest match is within the vulpes family, which is part of where they got their names from! Although they have virus in the name, 99.9% of virulpes are completely harmless if not helpful for most systems they inhabit, whether acting as a shimeji with a lot more cheek, to when theyre in the real world with us being adorable, cuddly little sweethearts! For the rare few that do end up in a poor spot, there hasn't been a case where they couldnt be recovered.

Virulpes can vary in size from being the size of a sticky note on your laptop to the size of a red fox, and can communicate in a variety of ways! they can speak and type just like we do, but other vocalisations can vary from normal canid sounds to something akin to nintendog noises or even little beeps and cyber noises! you can also teach them how to use an in-system keyboard so they can text you if you arent already wasting time petting them with your mouse... for 3 hours... ahem. this certainly isnt an anecdote

they do not have to eat and do not require cleaning up after (they appreciate a little time while youre afk for their bathtime if not ir!), but due to their nature and activity they can eat just about anything, and they really want to try as much out as they can, foods, experiences and so much more! due to how vast the digital world can be, especially with the internet growing and growing, theyve been able to pick up a lot of mutations and different traits from where they come from, so theres no end to what your virulpes could discover about themself!

alright, what makes a virulpes a virulpes?

the defining trait of the virulpes are their bit-traces, the particles that surround them like benign little cyber glitches, and a cursor-tag, which is a cursor-like appendage that acts essentially as a unique identifier for who they are!

you may think this does limit how far their traits can manifest, but provided that the cursor tag is visually distinct within the design and vaguely arrow shaped it can be a cursor-tag! it could be like a leaf, a fish scale or even a precious gem or ball of fire !! the only limit is how much RAMs in there, and it can be anywhere on the virus body except the eye! cursor-tag visual variations can be trait locked, so make sure you keep an eye out for that!

the bit-traces can also be just as diverse, but generally there will always be bit-traces around either the tail, neck or legs! they can be found all over the body. but at least one of those three body parts must maintain the bit-traces. bit-traces can manifest in many different shapes, but are majority very small little particles that can be any shape in one or two colours. some can manifest differently, however, to represent halos, a partial glow effect or even a small light show! these sorts of mutations also all tiered trait dependent though

1 set of wings, horns, extra set of eyes, munchkinism/reverse munchkinism, exotic cursor tag (elemental theming, precious gems, glitch, eye, blood etc), 2 sets of ears, 2 sets of tails, feathers/scales, 2 cursor-tags, limb 'separated' from body

◄ legendary
different animal lower half (snake/mertail/slug/ghost wisp etc), multiple heads, 2+ sets of wings, 2+ sets of eyes, bit-traces akin to galaxy/universes/planets/elemental powers/goo, plant growth (both marine and terrastral), 3+ tails, non tech related powers, non canid legs (rodent/cervid/raptor etc), form change, multiple hologram limbs, multiple cursor tags, unfixable virulpes

no bit-traces, no cursor tag, full hologram body, no eyes, full non-canid base

general species rules ▷
▷ follow cs code of conduct and site etiquette guidelines!


▷ this is a closed species. while I definitely do not own the concept of vaguely cyber canids, for virulpes only set staff can make adopts/nursery/event adopts! you may be able to use non staff designs for myos/commission them/make them yourself!

▷ you can own as many virulpes as youd like!

▷ please do not minimod/micromanage within the community too hard; this is what staff are for, and while you can remind people of rules and such do remember where the line can be drawn

▷ you can transfer designs into virulpes and out as long as you have the relevant artist permissions!

▷ no guilt tripping, begging or pressuring/manipulating others into giving up adopts, trading, breeding, making relationships between virus etc., especially to staff!

▷ virulpes can be any orientation/gender/age, but inces​t, child and adult virulpes relationships and hateful presentation is not allowed

▷ due to potential issues, virulpes cannot be co-owned

trading and readoption ▷

▷ you must have owned your virulpes from date of competition judgement, myo approval or readoption for at least a week before putting them back up again

▷ you may not sell virulpes for more than what you got for it (c$ for c$ is okay, c$ for usd/dA points is not), and if it was a free adopt/gift then no currency UNLESS you have commissioned art not from yourself to valuate to it.

▷ unused virulpes myos and items may be sold for the monetary value provided it was bought. if acquired for free then it can only be traded for art/gifted/other virus

▷ we wont intervene when someone in the community has blocked another user. this includes if an artist has blocked you and you are unable to post on their adopts. However if you feel that someone is using a block function to harass an individual within community spaces please feel free to report it.

▷ all gifts/trades/resales/etc must have the appropriate form filled out on the relative thread!

strikes and bans ◄
genuinely hope i dont have to apply this !! if any of the above rules get seriously violated, a strike will be implemented.
after three strikes or after serious rule breakage/external but relevant transgression the user will be banned,
and will be given the option to transfer their owned virulpes out of species or surrendered back to us to
readopt into the community. bans may be appealed on a case by case basis
