Mhmh (munchkin)
Hello, Crypt. I wanted to provide some clarity regarding the appearance of the silver-charcoal cat, in the event you wish to edit the design of the second parent* or if you want to know what such a pattern looks like, and to ask a question regarding the munchkin mutation.
While black tabby/bengal cats are the most common representation of the charcoal gene, due to a plethora of factors that I will not ramble on about unless you request for me to do so in private messages, there are several other colors the charcoal gene can be present in - more importantly, the silver-charcoal of the second parent, notwithstanding the juxaposing increase in eumelanin and suppression of pheomelanin both recessive genes cause - for such coats have been specifically bred in recent and past decades. As a result, I have managed to find a few real life silver-charcoal cats within the following links:
Reddit,
TikTok, and
Tumblr.
As for the munchkin mutation, is it a dominant or recessive gene in cats? In addition, can a cat carry it without being a munchkin themselves? I have endeavored to research this mutation myself, however, I've been unable to find a straight answer from the various sites claiming to be certain on the mutation.
*In the event you wish to edit the design of the second parent: A helpful
tabby marking guide by maxie on Amino, therein I believe the countershading could serve as a charcoal imitation, and a
bengal color chart by Mambastar on DeviantArt that displays the colors of charcoal.
