I'd like Aerie because the moment I saw her, she really caught my eye- her colours are beautiful and I found myself dreaming up a story for her almost immediately. She'd fit right in with my group of horses, and I'd love to have her. If I got her, Aerie would be loved and used. I'm actually working on making a complete thread for my equines at the moment, so when that's finished she'd have her own place in it. I'd like to roleplay Aerie if I got her, and she'd have regular art. Thank you for this opportunity!

Name: Juniper and Kai

Why would you like these characters/What will you do for them?:
Well, for a few a few reasons... I have always wanted some somewhat-natural wolf designs. These two are perfect, natural colors, but with a bit of a twist. I really love the subtle heart Juniper has and the speckle-like markings they both possess. They also simply look like they belong together, their designs go together beautifully. Their personalities simply flowed out of me, and I'm really enjoying the growing connection that I'm feeling for them. It was easy for me to imagine their relationship and how they would interact. I have had the urge to write a love story, and this is a lovely opportunity for me. These wolves are so adorable and intricate, I would love to have them in my character thread. Of course, I would order art of them and even draw some of myself. They may be included in stories with my other characters and would be cherished by me. I would definitely give them the loving home that they deserve and I thank you all for taking the time to read all of this to judge if it's worthy of winning such precious characters. ^^

Edit: After writing this, I feel like I kind of want to write another story about them, so they'll probably get more writing. xD If it wasn't 1 AM and I didn't have to wake up at like 5, I would continue writing. ;A;

Personality:
Juniper, also affectionately called "Juni" by her mate, is a strong-willed she-wolf. She hates to take "no" for an answer and is a rather stubborn little canine. She doesn't give up and is very persistent. Some may call her annoying, but Kai sees past that. She's true, honest and bold. Juniper happens to be extremely talkative, she likes to talk about her life and her past and she likes to hear about others'. In general, she just enjoys being engaged in conversation. She wants to understand others, if she doesn't understand someone, it frustrates her. She also has a short temper. She's known to explode at others if she hears one mean thing from them. She's protective of Kai, and whatever someone says to him, she takes it personally. Juniper is easily jealous. She hates to see other she-wolves coming on to Kai. It burns her up inside and she's known to lash out... violently. Speaking of which, Juniper isn't afraid to resort to violence as the answer. The only ones Juniper would never harm would be family... or Kai. Juniper can't lie. Well, she can, but it's obvious that she is. She stutters and lowers her ears and squeaks. She does not believe in lying and hates liars, but she'll do it for... Kai. Juniper is needy, she always wants to be with Kai and misses him a lot when he's not there. She's independent in regards of taking care of herself, but emotionally, she needs the companionship of her mate. Though, all she really needs is Kai. Juniper loves physical affection, she always wants to be touching Kai in some way. She feels deeply hurt if he pulls away from her. Juniper cares passionately for those she's close to, she can't stand to see them sick or injured. She's motherly and giving despite her outer iciness. Juniper likes cool weather and swimming. She's fun-loving and likes to joke around and laugh. She forms strong bonds with others and is an out-going and generally likable little wolf. Though, she has an extreme fear of thunderstorms.

As opposed to Juniper, Kai is soft-spoken and calm. He likes the quiet and generally keeps his opinions to himself. This can lead to communication problems, since he doesn't generally get across what he really means to say. He's independent and likes to be left alone at times (which Juniper doesn't like). Kai is thoughtful and likes to put himself in others' shoes. He seem to never be swayed by much and is a brave soul. He believes that things happen for a reason and can easily accept what happens without arguing with it. Kai is somewhat secretive, not liking to blurt out his problems or past. His trust needs to be earned, it's not something that he simply gives away. He likes to solve issues with kind words, but if it's needed, he happens to be a very muscular wolf whose strength surpasses many. This is because he likes to train and exercise to blow off steam and think. Even though he doesn't always want to be right with Juniper, he keeps her in his thoughts constantly and cherishes her. He hates to hurt others unless they caused him or his loved ones pain. He's protective of Juniper, just like she is of him. He doesn't usually get angry, only irritated at things. He's pretty much a goody-two-shoes with perfect manners and the longing to do good. Although, if he messes up, it flusters him and he has a hard time getting over it. He's easily embarrassed and vulnerable to sharp words. He can be a bit of a skeptic at times when he feels out of it. This is somewhat due to the fact that he suffers from insomnia, which can have a large impact on his overall health. Lack of sleep or food puts him in a bad mood. He can't function under high amounts of stress. He loves tranquility and being sung to by Juniper. Kai loves the beach, but hates the snow. He's a soft-hearted wolf who is somewhat fragile.

History:

~How we Met~
Just a small pup. Poor thing.

Deep in a rather lush forest, spring had just begun, winter melting away into a warmer and more welcoming season. The damp smells wafted around. Rain had just blessed the new flora of the forest and the plants opened their leaves gratefully. Birds sang, cicadas rattled and small creatures rustled. It was a time for the new. Many baby animals explored the new world with the older to guide them. It seemed to be such a blissful scene, something that you would only find illustrated in a children's storybook. Although, did you look deeper?

In a glade, an old hunter trap from the hunting season earlier had been triggered by a curious soul. A young one at that. Inside the fallen cage, a rare red wolf cub sat sadly. His ears hung low with sadness and hopelessness. A crimson spot dripped in the middle of his forehead from trying to shove his way out of this prison. His belly snarled with hunger and his heart throbbed for the need of his mother. Sorely alone. He had wandered from his mother upon seeing a shiny object in the green grass, little did he know this would happen. His neck ached from allowing his head to hang limply, but he didn't care much at this point.

"Hi!" A young feminine voice shot through the little cub's eardrums. His head jerked up in surprise, too absorbed in self-pity to realize there had been someone approaching. His bronze eyes took in the sight of a little grey wolf cub about his age. She had a bright pink nose like a flower and eyes like the racing river. Her head was cocked curiously to the side, examining him as closely as he was her. "You look wost." she commented childishly.

"Wost?" the cub questioned, already taught by his parents how to speak correctly.

"L... Lllll.." the little she-wolf struggled, "Lost." she said finally. "Down't make fun of me." she snorted. "What are you doing?" she asked, her expression quizzical.

"This thing fell on me." the little wolf sniffled, blushing that he continued to cry. "I can't find my mother and I'm h-hungry..." he tried hard to control this throat so he wouldn't sob. The she-wolf frowned, her eyebrows drawn together in concern.

"What's your name?" she asked, moving a bit closer to the cage.

"Kai..." he breathed, looking at her with hope.

"I'm Juniper." she smiled. "I'm going to help..." Juniper looked around, "Somehow..." she cringed, knowing she was a weak little thing. Pressing her forehead against the cage, she tried to push it over, her body shaking with effort. "Oww." she squeaked, flopping back on her hindquarters. "That hurts..." she commented, "Is that how you got your's?" Kai nodded. Juniper's mouth twisted sideways sympathetically. Standing again, she stuck her narrow muzzle through the bars of the cage and gingerly licked his wound. Kai blushed, his mouth hanging open slightly. "It's okay to cry, you know." Juniper frowned, looking into his eyes with thick emotion behind them. Kai was absolutely taken aback.

"JUNIPER!" an adult female's frantic voice shattered the moment. From the brush, a pale grey she-wolf burst out. "There you are! Don't you... Oh!" she cut off upon seeing Kai.

"Momma I found him..." Juniper said, "Can we help him?"

"Of course! His mother is probably worried sick!" Juniper's mother exclaimed, her anger forgotten. "Step back, dear." she told her daughter, bunching her muscles. Juniper backed away, smiling at Kai as she did. The she-wolf burst forward, ramming the cage with her muscular shoulder. The cage creaked and fell, freeing the cub.

"Thank you!" Kai exclaimed, jumping to his paws happily.

"My pleasure, little one." she smiled kindly, "Follow me, we'll find your mother. Come on, Juni!" the she-wolf called.

"Momma, he's Kai!" Juniper barked, scampering up to the two. "Will you be my friend?" Juniper grinned at Kai.

"Y-Yeah." Kai smiled for the first time.

"Yay!" the three wolves walked into the forest, "We'll be friends forever." Juniper proclaimed as they disappeared into the undergrowth.

~We're Older Now~
Can I tell you a secret?

Kai craned his neck downwards to lap at the cool water of the stream. His belly was full from the earlier hunt, summer was bountiful this year. The water trickled down his throat, pleasantly chilling his belly. He looked to the sky, watching the sun slowly sink below the horizon. This was the forest that had treated him so nicely for what? About four years now. His parents had raised him well and he had grown into a strong, proud wolf. His red pelt shimmered in the fading rays of light, his bronze eyes turning golden as the sun caught them, he was a truly magnificent sight. Just as Kai was beginning to relax fully, he heard a rustle in the underbrush. He turned his broad head, his mouth partially open in curiosity.

A large grey wolf with a torn ear and two protruding fangs lumbered from the bush. His pupils were simply venomous slits and he looked nearly twice the size of Kai.

"My territory!" the wolf snapped violently, saliva being tossed from his drooling jaws as he did. Kai never had a problem in this part of the forest until now. His heart hammered worriedly, sensing the impending fight.

"I-I-I didn't mean..." Kai stuttered, taking a step back. Before he had the chance to even turn to run, the wolf lunged forward, sinking his fangs into Kai's neck. His stomach lurched at the sickening pain that shot through his body at the feeling of teeth penetrating his flesh. The wolf threw Kai so that he skidded across the grass and hit a tree with a dull thud. His side throbbed where he hit the tree.

"I don't want to fight you..." Kai panted, one eye closed in pain. "I'll leave... Just.." Kai's jaw dropped open in fear as the wolf let out a loud snarl and began to stalk towards Kai. Kai's body quivered, but wouldn't move, he was going into shock. He was going to die. Closing his eyes, he waited. Although, he heard another snarl; this voice didn't belong to the wolf. Opening his eyes, he saw a familiar grey shape standing protectively in front of him, her fur bristling.

"Juniper." he breathed.

"Hi." she turned back to smile at him.

"My meat!" Instantly, Juniper's attention snapped back to the other wolf.

"Leave him alone!" Juniper's snarl dripped with warning, her blue eyes narrowed angrily. When the large wolf didn't leave, Kai saw Juniper's muscles tense.

"Juniper, don't..." Kai whispered his plea. Too late, Juniper launched her thin body forward, throwing her teeth into the side of the wolf's face, then leaping back in one swift movement. The wolf howled in pain, one side of his face now dripping with blood. In a rage, it cantered forward, blood lust filled its eyes. Juniper looked surprised, but opened her mouth for a counter-attack anyway. She had hesitated a second too long. Though her teeth were dug into the wolf's neck, his were firmly gripping her shoulder, the pressure getting harder by the second. She let out a whimper of pain, shockwaves of hurt pulsing through her body, but refused to let go.

Kai forced himself to his paws. He swayed, but obtained his balance again. Bracing himself, he shot forward and rammed his head into the wolf's side. It yelped and turned, hurt and outnumbered, it ran.

"Friends forever..." Juniper whispered, her voice thick with pain. Kai's neck bled and Juniper's shoulder bled.

"Can I ask you something?" Kai barked softly.

Soon, they lay side by side on the bank of the river. Both of their wounds were licked clean, the trauma from earlier in the process of being forgotten. The stars winked at them from the galaxy and the crescent moon smiled down at them, casting its pale light upon the earth.

"You came back..." Kai finally said. He had not seen Juniper in two years since their packs got in a territory fight. They had felt some affection towards each other at the time, just puppy love they supposed. However, they too got in a fight about whose pack was right. He had not seen Juniper since then.

"Yeah... I don't lie... When I said we'd be friends forever." Juniper smiled at her paws, though her low ears portrayed her confusion. "I just heard... And I... I don't know what came over me. I wanted to protect you..." Juniper was beginning to ramble, and Kai could tell.

"Thank you." he cut her off. She raised her eyes to his, looking a bit taken aback. "For coming back." Juniper's lips moved uselessly, then she cast her muzzle forward and nuzzled his neck. His eyes widened, a blush spreading across his face.

"I missed you." she whispered, her voice tight with emotion. He could feel her heart throbbing passionately against his shoulder.

"Juni... I..." For a split second Kai thought of their packs, but everything was cast away when he saw a tear slide down her cheek. "I missed you too..." he whispered, using his chin to hold her against him.

"Don't let me go, Kai... I don't want to ever feel the emptiness I felt without you." Juniper whispered, moving her tail to lay it on his. The pain of her being pressed against his neck wound was completely forgotten at that moment. He realized he had felt hollow until this moment. Kai pulled himself away, and Juniper gave him a look of betrayal. Shaking his head and smiling, he leaned forward and licked her nose. Immediately, her blush matched his.

"It's okay to cry, you know." Kai smiled. Juniper snorted a small laugh, remembering her words from years ago. He lay his head on top of her's, their hearts beating in time.

From then on, the two were inseparable. No, they didn't go back to their old packs, they found a new one and someday, they hoped to start a family of their own. They shared happiness as well as struggles, but nothing could break them apart. Fate proved it to them once that they were meant to be together, and they never wanted to challenge that again. Then again, they didn't want to.

Everything works out in the end, you know?
