rivers of milk-white moonlight cascaded across the forest glade, suspended in mid-air as if it were all gossamer and spun glass manipulated under a magician's hand. aurora borealis greens had breathed life into ebony night, its sweet oblivion smeared with rosewater and watercolor hues. the thrill of goldfinches seemed to crystallize in the air, their melodies like colors if you only took the time to imagine. you didn't recognize this place. not at all.

it was only then when the goldfinches and their melodies morphed into something irrevocably discordant, their lilting thrills turning shrill as a groan reverbrated through the forest glade. something was wrong. aurora borealis greens had drained into darkness, all of its watercolor hues fading into black.

it was only then when you saw the tree. its body was a wooden ribcage of gnarled bones and dried sap, the color of burnished gold and rust. its life drained to its final drop.

"it's such a shame... isn't it?" your body recoiled at the voice, all husky as if it were woodsmoke and ash. your eyes narrowed as you caught the faintest whisper of sharp features wrought from iron. rich, honeyed light poured down the panes of their face as they come to stand next to you, their eyes almost luminescent as they gaze towards the tree. "this tree used to be the lifeforce of this forest. the tree's magic is fuelled by the stories of the living, but these days, not enough stories are being told to the tree." remnants of dried sap were stuck to their paws, still a shade of burnished gold as they traced lines across the tree's gnarled branches. "without stories, the tree's magic is dying and... so is the forest.

"i am omen's cry." their gaze was on yours now. "and as guardian of this forest, i need your help to bring the tree back to life."

🍃how to play: welcome to our sixth annual catvent! starting december 1st, a new prompt will be posted at 0:00 cs rollover every day! you’re welcome to write and/or draw for these prompts! released prompts will be either short or long prompts - on long prompt days (seven total), when users write more than 250 words, they will get an extra raffle ticket for giveaway cats! (refer to catvent calendar for which days will have short/long prompts!)

🍃event shop: at the end of the catvent, an gift shop will officially open! you will be able to claim different gifts depending on the minigoals you reach! you can see the event bank here!

catvent minigoals:
5 catvent prompts completed = player can get +1 additonal item
10 catvent prompts completed = player can get +1 additonal item
15 catvent prompts completed = player can get +1 additonal item
20 catvent prompts completed = player can get +1 additonal item
25 catvent prompts completed = player can get +1 additonal item

🍃raffle tickets: for every prompt you complete, you will earn a raffle ticket! these raffle tickets are for the two giveaway cats that will be posted sometime during the event! by writing more than 250 words on longer prompt days, you will receive an additional raffle ticket! when the gift shop opens, you will be able to choose which giveaway cats to enter for using your raffle tickets!

🍃when does a ‘catvent day’ end?
all catvent prompts will reset at cs rollover! for example, day one of catvent will end on cs rollover (when it switches from dec 1st → 2nd). at this point, a new prompt will be posted! make sure to get your response in before the cafe closes as late entries won’t be counted ^^

🍃is there a minimum/maximum word count or amount of art i have to reach for each type of prompt (short/long)?
not at all! as long as you answer the prompt (before rollover), your answered prompt will count! it doesn’t matter how much writing/art you do (even if it’s a longer prompt [writing 250 words isn't mandatory] )!

🍃will i get exp for writing this catvent?
on long prompt days, users can get exp! however on short prompt days, no exp will be awarded.

🍃i’d love to answer the prompts and develop my clan, but i don't own any cats. may i still participate?
of course, we’d love to have you! feel free to use our npcs ━ many already have personalities/lore, but you’re free to adapt them to fit the prompt ^^

🍃oh no! i forgot to add my username/id/clan link/word count/etc in my prompt form! can i go ahead and edit it?
if rollover has already passed → don't worry about it! your entry will still be valid as long as you don’t edit your post ^^
if it has not rollover-ed to the next day → you’re welcome to do so!

🍃some aspect of the prompt (like the weather/etc) doesn't fit my clan's lore/setting. would i be able to interpret it in 'x' way instead?
absolutely! feel free to adapt any of the prompts to fit your lore/setting! as long as the response is somewhat related/relevant to the prompt, that’s perfectly okay! <3

🍃i think there’s a mistake in the catvent archive. who should i contact?
