Hello! We are looking for writers as we get our Explore feature up and running so we have some picked out when it's ready to launch!

What we are looking for: Writers to provide creative and unique responses to player's Explore posts.

Are applicants going to be full staff members?: All writers will start as guest staff and have the opportunity to be asked on as full staff.

Are guest writers rotated monthly like guest artists?: No, guest writers with be brought in, transitioned out, or taken on as full staff at the discretion of the team. How long a GW term lasts will be based on discussions between the GW and the Runaways team.

Do we have to have discord?: Discord is not required for a guest writer but staff in the discord will have to do your rolls.

Hazeclan

Weatherstar and Janeberry patrolled the border of Hazeclan. They chatted lightly about the recent events in the clan, namely the birth of Janeberry's kits.

"C'mon, Janeberry. You can't tell me that you're not aching to go home to your mate and kits." Weatherstar ribbed with a laugh while Janeberry rolled his eyes.

The tom released a huff of annoyance. "Kits aren't all they're cracked up to be. Yarrowspur and I are at our wits ends, patrol is a nice relief."

The pair check the scent markers diligently as they walk, their conversation not compromising the quality of their efforts, trained by many years of friendship.

Hazeclan's explore has rolled for an enemy patrol to appear and for them to discover catmint! Please give your best response to the Explore post and include these items.

Hey hey!! Are you looking for a full response detailing what happens, or more of a choose your own adventure style, where we write out their options and don't control the cats at all? For example:

Mousepaw sniffs the herbs, ensuring the new plants are indeed catnip. It had been a while since she had found something this useful! The elder's den would be sure to thank her for collecting it. She breaks off enough for a small bundle and heads back to camp.

Or

Mousepaw sniffs the air, locating the precious herb, Catnip. Catnip is used to treat greencough, a deadly illness. Elders, kits, and other weaker members of the Clan are most susceptible to its deadly coughs and fever.

How would you like Mousepaw to proceed? (Sample actions: collect catnip, protect catnip from mice, eat catnip, destroy catnip, head back to camp, or continue on your way.)

The kits. Why did Weatherstar have to bring up the kits?

This patrol was Janeberry's one breath of fresh air. He adored his family, don't get him wrong, but man. A father's patience must be second to none on this earth.

As Janeberry and Weatherstar continued to pace through the forest, Janeberry's nose twitched. A fresh aroma struck his nostrils, his pupils enlargening curiously. He separated from Weatherstar a moment, Weatherstar gazing at him in confusion. "Hey! You can't run off from your mate and kids that easily!" Weatherstar joked.

Janeberry rounded a corner, his eyes meeting a long green stem, dappled with captivating purple flowers. Janeberry took a moment to enjoy his find, breathing in the aroma of the plant softly before bringing it back to Weatherstar. [+1 catmint!]

However, when Janeberry went to return to Weatherstar, they were no where to be found.

"Weatherstar?" Janeberry called out, peering about the clearing he stood in. He dropped the herb and sniffed the air for a moment, following Weatherstar's faint trail. After a moment, Weatherstar peeked out of the shadows, ushering Janeberry to follow. Puzzled, the tom obeyed, leaning beside Weatherstar.

"What are we hiding from?" He asked, before his eyes narrowed. An unfamiliar scent. And it wasn't solitary; they had company.

[Weatherstar and Janeberry have scented an enemy patrol! Do they pursue, or attempt to leave it alone?]

Weatherstar trails a half a step behind Janeberry, watching his friend with a curious look on his face. Weatherstar had always assumed kits were the greatest thing to have, since the Clan relied on them. They briefly think back on their attempt to have that conversation with his mate. It did not go great. Weatherstar can see his friend is frustrated with the pent up energy that comes with being in the camp for a few days.

"Well, go on then. Run on ahead and I'll catch up after marking the border. Meet you at the yew tree?" Weatherstar offers a chance to stretch his legs. Janeberry gives them a grateful glance before sprinting off. Weatherstar finishes marking the border where he is, looking across the markers to SunClan. They had been peaceful as of late, causing his warriors to be lax in their duties. He would have to remind their deputy to create fighting practice patrols to keep their skills sharp. Weatherstar is about to continue when he hears a yowl from up ahead. Janeberry!

They race ahead to the border with the great yew tree. Weatherstar halts at the edge of the grassy clearing under it, finding Janeberry fluffed up to twice his size, squaring off with an enemy patrol of four cats. Grassheart and Sixpaw from SunClan are a few pawsteps over the border, with Yelloweyes and Sootface backing them up. Between SunClan and Janeberry is a patch of catmint growing on the border; a few stems have been collected and bundled up near Sixpaw.

"What in StarClan are you doing over the border, threatening my cats, stealing our herbs?" Weatherstar takes a step forward, arching his back and flattening his ears. Yelloweyes whips her head around to face them.

"Our cats need these herbs, and I'm willing to do what it takes to get them, Weatherstar."
